Twitter censorship is the modern-day red scare

“The Democratic Party [is] the bedfellow of international communism.” Those words from Sen. Joe McCarthy captured the gist of the Red Scare and the use of blacklists and personal attacks to silence critics. The Democrats this week appear to have taken up the same cudgel in labeling opponents and critics Russian sympathizers and fellow travelers in opposing government involvement in a massive censorship system. The Red Scare is back and it is going blue. I testified this week in Congress on the Twitter Files and how they suggest what I have called “censorship by surrogate” or proxy. True Colors? I cannot decide which doctrine is worse: The Red Scare or the Yellow Peril. You are way younger than my 80 years if you don't know about the Yellow Peril. There are more than two doctrines. Americans may not have associated a particular color with the Irish, when they were vilified for coming to our shores in droves. The native Americans were considered by Gen. Andrew Jackson as red devils. When skin color as assigned by our creator, became our only definition--nobody thought about suing Almighty God for reparations. But we find many other ways to give him dishonor, spit in His face and show Him our backs.

Except the Red Scare was not some imaginary boogeyman as we have been told for decades. It was real, and we are living with the results of the long term infiltration and takeover of our institutions.

How does Trump vs. DeSantis end? 14 replies

How does Donald Trump vs. Ron DeSantis end? “Not well” is my answer. Such pessimism is based on former President Trump’s recent response when radio host Hugh Hewitt asked him if he would support “whoever” wins the GOP presidential nomination. “It would have to depend on who the nominee was,” Trump replied, prompting Hewitt to change topics. The 45th president’s answer leads one to envision a list of “acceptable” nominees locked in a drawer at Mar-a-Lago. And what if the eventual winner were someone Trump considered disloyal?
GOP’s new biz probes may burst balloony

With China’s spy balloon crossing the American heartland unmolested and GOP leaders simultaneously starting probes of his family’s corruption, Joe Biden is entering a new phase of his presidency. The worst case scenario is that all his chickens are coming home to roost. The spy balloon’s appearance and that of two additional objects shot down by the military oddly highlight the importance of the House probes. The possibility that Biden has been compromised by profiting from son Hunter’s lucrative foreign entanglements, especially with China, is drawing extra attention to how the president reacts to the Communist regime’s aggressive surveillance.

Hunter Biden’s legal team has been at the center of news coverage this month after it appeared to confirm the authenticity of his laptop in a letter (only to try to backtrack 24 hours later). It was a curious and gratuitous move for Biden and his counsel Abbe Lowell as they called for criminal investigations into his critics, suggested lawsuits against media, and even argued that the tax-exempt status of some groups be rescinded by the IRS. Now, however, the team is moving in a far more precarious direction. They seem to be adopting the strategy of Steve Bannon that resulted in his conviction for contempt of Congress.

Republican lawmakers said Friday news that the U.S. military shot down a flying object over Alaska is further evidence President Biden waited too long to order the downing of a Chinese spy balloon that flew across the U.S. mainland last week. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby announced Friday the Department of Defense shot down a "high altitude object" flying in territorial waters over Alaska. "I can confirm that the Department of Defense was tracking a high altitude object over Alaska airspace in the last 24 hours out," Kirby said.

Freshman Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., said Friday that the Washington Post's profile of her contained several mischaracterizations and factual errors, and said its suggestion that she only embraced her Hispanic heritage in order to run for office shows how far the mainstream press will go to attack conservatives. "As I've said before, and as the Washington Post has clearly showcased, anyone who is a conservative minority is a threat to Leftist control," Luna told Fox News Digital. "They can try to discredit me, but unfortunately for them the facts completely blow their story out of the water."

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has a plan for freeing public universities from the stranglehold of their diversity, equity, and inclusion bureaucracies. Before DeSantis launched this effort, it was widely believed, even among those who recognized the dangers of DEI, that there was really nothing public officials could do about the problem. Just like the weather, it was simply something we would all have to learn to live with. Public universities were thought to be outside of political control, and academic culture was thought to be too committed to DEI goals. But DeSantis is proving that something can be done. His plan is likely to make significant progress in dismantling DEI

George Washington University law professor and legal expert Jonathan Turley fired back Friday on "Fox & Friends" after Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., went after his credentials at a House hearing on the weaponization of the federal government. Wasserman Schultz told Turley he was only offering "opinion and conjecture" on Twitter working with the FBI and had no "specific or unique knowledge" to speak about the issue. JONATHAN TURLEY: The congressman was asking if I've ever worked at Twitter as a condition for my talking about what the Twitter files. It's like saying you have to work at the Pentagon if you want to testify about the implications

The euro has recouped much of the losses it suffered against the US dollar in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the energy crisis that it unleashed. One euro is now worth $1.07, up about 13% from September last year when it sank to around $0.95, a 20-year-low. The resurgence of the common currency used by 20 countries in Europe has been spurred by a drop in energy prices, easing recession fears in the eurozone and the European Central Bank (ECB), which continues to aggressively hike interest rates. The euro's rebound has also been aided by a weakening dollar as the US Federal Reserve slows its pace of monetary tightening

In his second State of the Union address Tuesday, President Joe Biden highlighted how our country is “always moving forward … never giving up.” Presidents use this platform to sell their accomplishments – and make a case for future plans. And Biden is eager to shift the conversation from his political troubles, such as the classified document fiasco or the recent Chinese spy balloon uproar. This was Biden’s best chance to talk frankly with the country – and set the tone with a new and divided Congress. But the big-government solutions he offered failed to adequately address pressing concerns, including the ongoing financial difficulties faced by many citizens.

So many lies were told at the House Oversight’s first committee hearing Wednesday into the corruption scandal involving Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop and the subsequent cover up by the FBI with social-media firms to rig the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden. Or, as Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez tried to rebrand it: “Hunter Biden’s half-fake laptop.” It’s a sign of desperation that more than two years after The Post published the first bombshell story from the laptop, Dems can’t get their stories straight on what the laptop really is.

First, the “Twitter Files” lifted the lid on Big Tech bias that had been shielding President Biden and his son Hunter from deserved scrutiny. Congressional hearings provided added details of how Washington officialdom egged on the social media firm, famous for its little blue bird of free expression, to fly cover for the Biden brand. Americans deserve a full accounting. Public testimony began Wednesday with the House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s hearing titled “Protecting Speech From Government Interference and Social Media Bias, Part 1: Twitter’s Role in Suppressing the Biden Laptop Story.” Former Twitter executives Vijaya Gadde, James Baker and Yoel Roth all testified. Dozens of students walked out of their New Hampshire school after the district banned urinals in a compromise to a proposal that would have blocked children from using facilities based on their gender identity. The school board decided a few days before the Friday walkout to prohibit students at Milford Middle School and Milford High School from using urinals or shared spaces in locker rooms. The ban in a town of about 15,000 people roughly 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Concord, New Hampshire's capital, was the culmination of a long debate about district rules about bathroom use and gender identity.

Good news, everybody. All those UFOs being shot down over the US and Canada might not be from China after all, leaving the possibility that it’s just an alien invasion on the table. According to the Chicoms, they have detected an unidentified craft over Rizhao and have scrambled jets in response, warning fishermen to stay alert if something comes crashing down out of the sky. That news was about an hour old as of this writing and no further news has been released on whether China successfully engaged the supposed craft. That is if there even was a UFO as the communists claim. It seems far more likely

Back in 2017, when Amy Coney Barrett was undergoing confirmation hearings for her nomination to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein expressed concern about Judge Barrett’s devotion to her Catholic faith. “The dogma lives loudly within you,” Feinstein said. Two years later, Brian Buescher, a nominee to the federal bench in Ohio, faced criticism from Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris and Mazie Hirono for his membership in the Knights of Columbus. Then, an article in the Atlantic magazine argued that the Catholic rosary symbolized religious radicalism and had become a “weapon” for those dangerous white Christian nationalists.

Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) implied in a statement the object was the same one tracked over Montana Saturday night (tweet posted further down in article.

If you’re going to continue reading, consider yourself forewarned: It gets far crazier than the headline suggests. Let’s begin with the left’s latest insane notion: restoring sight to the blind is yet another example of ableism — the discrimination of and social prejudice against people with disabilities based on the belief that typical abilities are superior — and moreover, disabilities “need no cure.” See what I mean? As RedState reported earlier this month, Jimmy Donaldson, more popularly known as “MrBeast,” posted a video to his YouTube channel about how he helped “cure” the blindness of 1,000 people by providing them with free cataract surgery. Donaldson was promptly both praised and skewered,
