DeSantis calls the bureaucrats' bluff

Original Article

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has a plan for freeing public universities from the stranglehold of their diversity, equity, and inclusion bureaucracies. Before DeSantis launched this effort, it was widely believed, even among those who recognized the dangers of DEI, that there was really nothing public officials could do about the problem. Just like the weather, it was simply something we would all have to learn to live with. Public universities were thought to be outside of political control, and academic culture was thought to be too committed to DEI goals. But DeSantis is proving that something can be done. His plan is likely to make significant progress in dismantling DEI

Next thing you know, DeSantis will be walking on water. This one guy, in the entire country, can move mountains while other governors are struck down in a heartbeat.

Excellent piece on what DeSantis is doing to derail this "diversity" evil trend. Beat it hard enough, especially by firing a few recalcitrant university presidents, and cutting funding to these horrible schemes, and it will die as an official program. It is much more difficult to beat it out of the classrooms entirely, but that can be done, too. Find those who are doing it, charge them with civil rights violations and get them at least sanctioned, and hopefully fired. We can win this, especially with bold, brave leaders like DeStantis.

Funny how when a child brings in a religious Christmas card, they are reprimanded so I find this diversity stuff questionable.

Hit submit to fast. When my daughter was in kindergarten and on their birthday, they could bring in their favorite items from home. My daughter did and it included her "Jesus Loves Me" book and she was not allowed to present it or talk about it. Yessirree, diversity. . .only when it fits their criteria.

Hunter Biden’s legal team has been at the center of news coverage this month after it appeared to confirm the authenticity of his laptop in a letter (only to try to backtrack 24 hours later). It was a curious and gratuitous move for Biden and his counsel Abbe Lowell as they called for criminal investigations into his critics, suggested lawsuits against media, and even argued that the tax-exempt status of some groups be rescinded by the IRS. Now, however, the team is moving in a far more precarious direction. They seem to be adopting the strategy of Steve Bannon that resulted in his conviction for contempt of Congress.
Twitter censorship is the modern-day red scare 3 replies

“The Democratic Party [is] the bedfellow of international communism.” Those words from Sen. Joe McCarthy captured the gist of the Red Scare and the use of blacklists and personal attacks to silence critics. The Democrats this week appear to have taken up the same cudgel in labeling opponents and critics Russian sympathizers and fellow travelers in opposing government involvement in a massive censorship system. The Red Scare is back and it is going blue. I testified this week in Congress on the Twitter Files and how they suggest what I have called “censorship by surrogate” or proxy. The files show dozens of FBI and government employees actively seeking the censorship

Republican lawmakers said Friday news that the U.S. military shot down a flying object over Alaska is further evidence President Biden waited too long to order the downing of a Chinese spy balloon that flew across the U.S. mainland last week. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby announced Friday the Department of Defense shot down a "high altitude object" flying in territorial waters over Alaska. "I can confirm that the Department of Defense was tracking a high altitude object over Alaska airspace in the last 24 hours out," Kirby said.

Freshman Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., said Friday that the Washington Post's profile of her contained several mischaracterizations and factual errors, and said its suggestion that she only embraced her Hispanic heritage in order to run for office shows how far the mainstream press will go to attack conservatives. "As I've said before, and as the Washington Post has clearly showcased, anyone who is a conservative minority is a threat to Leftist control," Luna told Fox News Digital. "They can try to discredit me, but unfortunately for them the facts completely blow their story out of the water."

The euro has recouped much of the losses it suffered against the US dollar in the aftermath of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the energy crisis that it unleashed. One euro is now worth $1.07, up about 13% from September last year when it sank to around $0.95, a 20-year-low. The resurgence of the common currency used by 20 countries in Europe has been spurred by a drop in energy prices, easing recession fears in the eurozone and the European Central Bank (ECB), which continues to aggressively hike interest rates. The euro's rebound has also been aided by a weakening dollar as the US Federal Reserve slows its pace of monetary tightening

In his second State of the Union address Tuesday, President Joe Biden highlighted how our country is “always moving forward … never giving up.” Presidents use this platform to sell their accomplishments – and make a case for future plans. And Biden is eager to shift the conversation from his political troubles, such as the classified document fiasco or the recent Chinese spy balloon uproar. This was Biden’s best chance to talk frankly with the country – and set the tone with a new and divided Congress. But the big-government solutions he offered failed to adequately address pressing concerns, including the ongoing financial difficulties faced by many citizens.

So many lies were told at the House Oversight’s first committee hearing Wednesday into the corruption scandal involving Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop and the subsequent cover up by the FBI with social-media firms to rig the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden. Or, as Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez tried to rebrand it: “Hunter Biden’s half-fake laptop.” It’s a sign of desperation that more than two years after The Post published the first bombshell story from the laptop, Dems can’t get their stories straight on what the laptop really is.

Congressional hearings provided added details of how Washington officialdom egged on the social media firm, famous for its little blue bird of free expression, to fly cover for the Biden brand. Americans deserve a full accounting. Public testimony began Wednesday with the House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s hearing titled “Protecting Speech From Government Interference and Social Media Bias, Part 1: Twitter’s Role in Suppressing the Biden Laptop Story.” Former Twitter executives Vijaya Gadde, James Baker and Yoel Roth all testified. Like Nero bragging about rebuilding Circus Maximus after burning it down, Joe Biden took to the podium tonight to take credit for solving a slew of problems he helped create. At the top of his State of the Union address, the president boasted that he had “created more jobs in two years than any president created in four years.” No president — not Joe Biden nor Donald Trump — creates jobs. But Biden’s contention was exceptionally misleading, considering he inherited an economy that had been unplugged by an artificial, state-induced shutdown. If the government compels businesses to shutter, it doesn’t “create” jobs when allowing them to open.

Reps. The line apparently failed, as very few in the room laughed and some looked confused or concerned. Watch: Very funny, Joe. Actually, it’s not that funny, and although he’s made similar jests in the past, it points to a larger problem: many don’t believe the President is really in charge—including seemingly himself.

A new government report reveals that the total amount of American soil owned by Chinese investors is nearly twice as large as the entirety of New York City. As the New York Post reports, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) revealed in last month’s report on foreign-held land that Chinese buyers currently own at least 384,235 of American land. By contrast, the full expanse of New York City covers just 193,700 acres. Even Bill Gates’ total land ownership is dwarfed by China’s, with just 270,000 acres. Of all the foreign-owned farmland in the U.S., China owns roughly 0.9 percent, or about $1.2 billion worth of land, according to the USDA report.
