Iran's crude oil exports have been surging in recent months on the back of higher shipments to countries like China, according to data from companies that track the flows.
Analytics firms like Vortexa, TankerTrackers and Kpler estimate an increase in Iranian crude and condensate exports over the past three months, averaging around 1 million barrels per day.
The numbers are far below the over 2.5 million barrels per day the Persian Gulf nation was exporting in early 2018 — before the Trump administration withdrew the US from the international nuclear deal with Tehran and imposed unilateral sanctions — but they are much higher than those at times during 2020

Any Democrat who thinks the party’s better-than-expected November midterm-election outcome was an affirmation of President Biden and the Democratic Congress policies and accomplishments will have a rude awakening reading the just-released NBC News poll. Conversely, any Republicans seeking support for their agenda would be equally hard-pressed to find it in the poll.
Americans continue to be deeply pessimistic about how things are going in the country. Just 23 percent of adults nationwide say the country was headed in the right direction, while 71 percent say it is on the wrong track. Richard Wirthlin, President Reagan’s pollster, used to call this question “the Dow Jones indicator of American politics.”

Hunter Biden’s defense about his incriminating laptop sounds like an old joke about a trial lawyer who was accused of letting his dog bite a stranger. The lawyer’s first line of defense was that “it couldn’t happen because my dog was tied up that night.” When told there were witnesses who had seen him walking the dog, he said, “Okay, we were out walking but my dog doesn’t bite.” If that fails, then, “Well, yes, my dog did give you a little nip, but it wasn’t a bad one.” Then, “Granted, you had to go to the hospital for surgery, but you provoked my sweet pup.” If all else fails,

“You've been given a great gift, George,” the angel Clarence tells George Bailey in “It’s A Wonderful Life.” “A chance to see what the world would be like without you.”
Readers of the New York Times have been given a similar gift this week – a chance to see how the paper they revere deceives them. Where the Christmas classic showed the difference one person can make through the contrasting fates of two towns, Bedford Falls and Pottersville, Times readers can see how far their paper has fallen by comparing two recent articles.

CIA Director William Burns reportedly offered Russian President Vladimir Putin a fifth of Ukraine's territory to end the war as part of a peace plan drawn up on behalf of President Joe Biden. Burns is believed to have submitted the plan in mid-January to put an end to the war, which began on February 24, 2022. The story was reported by Swiss-German newspaper NZZ on Thursday, citing high-ranking German foreign politicians. Both Kyiv and Moscow reportedly rejected the proposal.
According to the newspaper, the proposal offered "around 20 percent of Ukraine's territory"—approximately the size of Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.

Newly-elected Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders will deliver the Republican response to President Biden's State of the Union address next Tuesday. The news of Sanders' "Republican Address to the Nation" — which will be broadcast from Little Rock, Arkansas — came in an announcement from House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.
"Americans are still struggling from inflation, a border crisis, record crime, and a failing school system. As House Republicans work to fix these problems in Congress with our Commitment to America, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is addressing them head on with her conservative agenda outside of Washington," McCarthy said. The word “authenticity” is having a moment. In the context of product marketing and prominent consumer brands, one sees countless references to the criticality of purpose-driven marketing and the necessity of brands being perceived as authentic to garner the loyalty of (and dollars spent by) Gen Zers and younger millennials.
So it is with political marketing. Whether on behalf of political parties, campaigns, or specific candidates, political advertising and retail campaigning are imbued with messages reinforcing the relatability of the “product” — of which authenticity forms a considerable part.

The FBI search of President Joe Biden's vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, on Wednesday, continues the search for classified material in various homes and work spaces used by the president and his family in the past decade. What is surprising about Wednesday's search is not the fact that a sitting president has now been subject to two FBI searches of his residences, but the fact that this search has come roughly three months after the first discovery of documents in a closet in Washington.

Rep. Adam B. Schiff promoted himself as a fighter against lies and corruption that can bring down democracy when he announced his bid to become the next U.S. senator from California.
“I’ve always believed that right matters, that the truth matters,” Mr. Schiff said in a video launching his campaign. Yet Mr. Schiff brings into the race his own trail of distortion and outright lies that critics say undercut the democratic process. He has refused to acknowledge most of the mistruths, even when faced with overwhelming evidence.

After the Taliban toppled Afghanistan's government in August 2021, authorities in neighboring Pakistan warned that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Taliban's Pakistani allies, would be emboldened in their yearslong rebellion against the government.
Throughout 2022, militants stepped up attacks throughout Pakistan, with tensions escalating in November after the TTP called off a fragile cease-fire with the Pakistani government and ordered their fighters to carry out attacks "wherever you can in the entire country."

A group of Christians is pushing back against SatanCon 2023, an event scheduled to take place in downtown Boston that is being touted by The Satanic Temple as the "largest satanic gathering in history."
Detractors say the temple is "using the supernatural" to manipulate people, though it bills itself as a nontheistic group that does not believe in the supernatural.
"We've been tracking these folks for a couple years now," Dave Kubal, CEO of Intercessors for America, told Fox News Digital. His organization of "half a million prayer warriors" takes a three-pronged approach to resisting and exposing The Satanic Temple with "news, prayer and action."

The House on Tuesday ignored opposition from President Biden and voted to end the public health emergency related to COVID-19, and won some support from House Democrats on a second bill that would end the government’s requirement that federal health care workers must be vaccinated against COVID.The two bills – the Pandemic is Over Act and the Freedom for Health Care Workers Act – were planned by Republicans last week, and late Monday, the White House announced that it will terminate the national COVID emergency on May 11. The White House also announced its opposition to the two bills up today.
But Republicans pressed ahead anyway, and easily passed both
