So we begin with a bit of a biographical note. Like many writers at PJ Media, I work from home. There was a knock at my door this morning, and I noticed a police vehicle outside. As we are law-abiding people, that was out of the ordinary. At my door was the animal control officer. That seemed odd since our dogs stay in the backyard and don’t roam around the neighborhood. The issue that warranted said knock on my door was the fact that I had inadvertently left one of our dogs out a little longer than usual.

I've noticed this a lot when someone moves in from the communist states. They are so quick to tell everyone else how to live and sic the law on them if they dont comply, despite their having fled the place that taught them that behavior. The Californians ruined New Mexico, and the New Yorkers are trying to ruin WV the same way.

Turn the table. As soon as the neighbor put her trash out too early or parked her car in the wrong place, call the authorities.

Actually, this problem can be rectified if everyone just turned their TV off and unplugged from the indoctrination.

There's only so much nagging and screeching and haranguing a person can take before fists, or lead, are going to fly.... And if some Karen tries to recruit me as a witness, I'll just say 'I Don't know what you're talkin' about'.

The vert best example I can think of, to show central governement over reach, is related to Hurricane Katrina.
Earky inaccurate reirting drew the attebtio of the ation. Thousands were dying at the stadium, hubdreds of irls beig raped daily, bodies floting down the streets of New Orleans.
Medical professionals from around the U.S, responded by going to New Orleans, where they ere told by federal bureaucrats that they, the volunteers first had to go to Atlanta.
hy Atlanta? To undergo 48 hours of sexual harassment training.
Most of the volunteers went home.

Why take them eggs? It will reinforce to “Karen” and her lot that they are in control.

I live in Florida and this is EXACTLY why we groan every time a license plate from the northeast is spotted. Horrible, terrible people that know EVERYTHING.

I had a similar problem but with my HOA back during the great covid panic of 2020. I posted a sign on my front lawn which simply said, “Stand Up For Your Country” and included an American flag. Political campaign yard signs of any kind are banned by the HOA but flags are not. Someone complained and I was told to take it down. I moved it onto my front porch and was again told to take it down.
I take a 30-40 minute walk around my neighborhood most days and at that time I saw four houses with rainbows posted in their windows or on their doors. I informed the HOA (don’t forget, they started this.) and told them that my sign was no different than the message implied by flying an American flag and that the rainbow signed were a much more political statement than my sign. Didn’t matter. The rainbows stayed and my sign had to come down.
I wish that I knew who complained.

No, I don't agree with calling the cops right away but it sounds like the author could be a "Karen" too. His article was way too important to pay attention to the dog? Get a grip and be dog-owner responsible.

I'm in agreement with a previous poster who said , "Turn the Tables." Excellent idea. Make them live by the same rules they wish to enforce on us. They can't handle that.

While it's fun to Karen on about people we think are Karens, did anyone read the part about the author leaving the dog outside barking while author was absorbed in work? There's exercising freedom and there's being an azzwhole . . . but they shouldn't go together. Calling the cops over it seems over the top, but just writing about that part and leaving out one's own culpability in the situation is a bit self-serving.

Easy to complain about the author's faux pax, but doesn't explain why people call the cops on such insignificant things: Trash cans out too long, visitors' car in your own driveway, American flag in your window? A simple knock on the door and we wouldn't be reading about it here. People call the cops when their teenager won't get out of bed and go to school - ask a cop sometime.
There are few situations that calling the cops can't make worse.

The only reason to call animal control is if an animal is being abused. Barking is just something that dogs do and unless it's in the middle of the night, ignore it. Brown's immediate reaction to give this Karen an appeasement gift is the total opposite of what I would do because he/she doesn't deserve it and will take it as approval of her ignorant behavior. I would make this neighbor suffer by dumping skunks, groundhogs or snakes in her yard or placing a few rotted fish in hard-to-find locations. Just don't get caught.

#13, quite right. I’ve been the victim of neighbors with barking dogs more times than I can count. Some of them you can talk to, most you cannot.

I'm on the side that thinks this guy's an azzwhole. In Maryland animal control won't come until the dog's been barking for over an hour straight. So little writer sits in his soundproof room typing this drivel while anyone and everyone else has to listen to hour long bouts of non-stop yapping. How about take the dog for a walk?
I once had a neighbor who practiced the bagpipes, outside. Apparently the one or two other members of the household couldn't stand the noise so now 50 or so neighbors get to listen to the screeching. Suburban people are generally inconsiderate trash.

Have you ever tried to have a rational conversation with a dog owner about their dog? This man goes on and on about how sweet his dog is nobody should be bothered about some barking.

A lot of people are just jerks....and he's probably right that they moved from some stinkhole like NY or CA and want to bring their BS attitudes with them.
I appreciate him having to sit with his dog in his back yard to keep him from barking.
We had two coyotes come through our suburban back yard a couple of days ago. We used to let our cat out to explore the back yard and occasionally circumnavigate the house. He was usually wanting back in in in 10-15 minutes. Now, I have to go out with a gun. Just being there is useless. My brother in law's wife was in their back yard in Florida with her cat and a coyote came up and killed the cat while the woman was kicking and yelling at the coyote. He ignored her, and the cat was dead in seconds.

I've been called a Karen and worse for complaining on our neighborhood Facebook page that kids have stolen the solar lights along my front walkway twice, the Halloween pumpkins on my front porch once, and pounded on our front door at 10 o'clock at night before running off laughing -- twice. It's not so funny because the dogs go nuts and my husband has PTSD. I was warned that my post didn't meet the standards of the page, I should get off my soapbox, and that kids will be kids and they're just having fun.
