How the world works (for dummies)

Original Article

Poverty in America is so bad that some people can barely afford their cell phones. In much of the rest of the world, poor people starve to death, or die of what in America are ordinary, survivable diseases or injuries. In America, injustice is so bad that many lawyers appointed by the court cannot get their clients acquitted of the crimes they committed, and must settle for a plea bargain. Elsewhere, to be accused is to be found guilty and imprisoned in hell-hole cellars, innocence being irrelevant to the courts of so-called justice.

The author refers to fixing stupid but I think the problem coming from the Left is more a case of willful ignorance. I don't know how you combat that.

I wish it was only ignorance, but I suspect it is malicious desire to wreck our country. Without America to contend with, the world can more easily be run by a centralized government.

He's right. When you load up two heavy grocery carts using your EBT card and you can't get one of the store clerks to push them out to your car for you, things are getting bad.

Both sets of my grandparents were born in the 19th century and came of age in the 20th century. They were farmers and tradesmen. They worked with large pieces of machinery and vehicles. Before that, they worked with large horses. The only vaccinations available to them were to prevent smallpox. They didn't go to doctors; often, there weren't any. A lot of the time, they killed what they ate. Their children were mostly born at home. Sometimes, children didn't survive to adulthood. One of my grandfathers lost two brothers before he was 18. Then, he survived the Spanish Flu. Another grandfather was a veteran of trench warfare in WWI. There was no welfare, no Social Security, no Medicare, no unemployment compensation. Whenever I hear people talk about how hard life is, in the 21st century, it amuses me to think what my grandparents would have told them.

How do you fix stupid? Beginning to think this is what 'dumbing down' looks like. This started in the schools, and spread to the home. It took decades to get to where we are at today. It will take decades to fix. Fixing the schools goes a long way to fixing stupid.

America is raising feral children 12 replies

We were posted at the front of a large public high school auditorium in the Land of the Free in 2015. Both of us were responsible for maintaining some semblance of order as 150 to 200 students socialized, did homework, and ate lunch. I can’t tell you what my partner saw, but I saw girls sitting on their boyfriends’ laps. I noticed a student climbing over chairs to get from A to B. Some students were throwing things. We discouraged all this, of course, but the scene reminded me of Wild West cattle drives I’d seen on TV.

The Uniparty is determined to severely undermine President Trump’s efforts to rebalance trade agreements worldwide and bring back millions of jobs from overseas. As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday the implementation of a 10% baseline tariff on all imports, effective April 5, 2025. The worst offenders will be hit with even tougher measures on April 9. Speaking from the White House Rose Garden, President Trump proclaimed April 2 as “Liberation Day,” marking a new era of economic independence. He emphasized that this measure is essential to protect American jobs and revitalize domestic manufacturing.

Kamala Harris emerged from whatever bunker she's been hiding in to celebrate Tuesday's Wisconsin Supreme Court race results — and boy, was it a spectacle. Kamala Harris, whose public appearances have become increasingly erratic, posted a TikTok video that left many wondering if she'd hit the sauce before hitting the record button. “Hi, Wisconsin, to all of you,” Kamala’s video began. “I just wanted to pop by to say thank you. You all are just extraordinary. You love our country. You care. You are making such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of so many people, on behalf of communities
Make IRS Sauce The Same For Both Citizen

An old saw says that whatever is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander. Of course, in D.C., that has never been true. If you are in the seat of power, you are untouchable. This explains the revulsion that middle earth (flyover country) has for Mordor on the Hudson. “Why can they get away with things we would go to jail for?” One of those things is getting rich in a job that shouldn’t generate that kind of wealth. Perhaps the difference between ordinary citizen geese and politician ganders is best exemplified by the not-inconsiderable fear ordinary citizens experience

President Donald J. Trump decided to revoke the security clearances of many people, including some top Democrats. Hillary Clinton, Antony Blinken, Alvin Bragg, Adam Kinzinger, Alexander Vindman, and Joe Biden. The entire Biden crime family got stripped of their clearances. Kamala Harris is also without a clearance. The inner circle of the plot to imprison him on bogus charges has lost those privileges, as they should. They don’t need them. They’re not running things right now. It made CNN angry, so my night has been made.

William Shakespeare has long been considered one of England’s great men because of his extraordinary output of timeless plays and sonnets. They that shaped the English language as well as exporting ideas about British culture...not because the Brits foisted his works on others, but because others recognized their beauty and universality. Now, though, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, as part of the nation’s push for national suicide
Did COVID Nearly Start a Revolution? 6 replies

Let’s revisit the tumultuous second half of 2021. Dementia-addled President Joe Biden executed a disastrous retreat from Afghanistan in August that resulted in the killing of thirteen servicemembers. Having spectacularly failed America’s warfighters, he transitioned quickly to the ongoing “fight against COVID.” No cost was too great or burden too onerous in the federal government’s war against microscopic organisms. Billions were funneled to pharmaceutical companies (aka Democrat Party donors) to pay for witch doctors’ experimental elixirs. Billions more were funneled to “news” platforms and “non-governmental” organizations (all on the USAID dole) to push the White House’s preferred COVID narratives and censor dissent.
Why Does Dan Crenshaw want to kill Tucker Carlson? 7 replies

Last week Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) was interviewed by British journalist Steven Edginton of Britain’s GB News. After the conversation, Edginton mentioned Tucker Carlson, which caused Crenshaw to say the following that was captured on a 'hot mic.' “We’ve talked a lot on Twitter,” referring to the exchanges he and Carlson have traded online, “If I ever meet him, I’ll f*cking kill him.” GB News on X posted the exchange, but the post was eventually deleted. Another X user, perhaps anticipating the deletion of the clip, reposted the video. Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene asked Crenshaw whether he had threatened Carlson, Crenshaw attempted to ridicule the premise with "Lol, no.”

In this writer’s opinion, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton committed treason surrounding the debacle in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 11, 2012. In this 1950s, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for treason, for supplying nuclear weapons secrets to the Soviets. Obama, Hillary and possibly several others knowingly provided similar game-changing technology to several of our enemies in bad judgment that amounts to treason.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), headed by Elon Musk, has been a godsend. Prior to Trump taking office and the subsequent founding of DOGE, too many Americans were slumbering happily away, not knowing that their government was misusing their tax dollars for culturally insane and politically problematic purposes, and giving them the shaft. This is the Crime of the Century. The corruption and graft run both wide and deep. Those in numerous federal government agencies didn't just squander Americans’ money, they stole their freedom, dignity, and trust in their government

Poor retired General Mark Milley. In Mark Milley: pardons and mutiny and in General Milley may face consequences after all, I noted Milley appears to have violated multiple articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). One—mutiny—carries the death penalty. Fortunately for Milley, Joe Biden’s handlers gave him a preemptive pardon, so no Leavenworth or death. But for someone like Milley, there may be a worse fate. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered a review of Milley’s rank; he could lose a star in retirement.

As the new Trump Administration enters its third week, amidst a vast sea of issues, a huge financial challenge awaits. Anyone paying attention knows that the student loan situation in the U.S. over the last few decades is out of control. Some 46.2 million students have taken out loans, currently averaging $38,000, which most of these borrowers will find difficult to pay back. Loans are necessary for many people because college tuition continues to escalate. With a wave of a hand, the installed Biden-Harris Administration attempted to administer a loan forgiveness program that boggles the imagination and would create an unending debacle

The last thing the Palestinians need are more calls from Qatar-based extremist for terrorism and jihad. If these Muslim "scholars" really want to help their Palestinian brothers, they should be calling on Hamas to release all the Israeli hostages they kidnapped, then to disarm, and then to stop pursuing the disastrous path of terrorism and jihad. The "scholars" leading the IUMS live safely in Qatar, not in the Gaza Strip, and they are therefore not directly affected by the war that Hamas launched. That such a call by an influential Islamic group comes from an organization based in Doha illustrates why Qatar c

The Trump administration will be allowed to resume deporting suspected Venezuelan gangbangers under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act after the Supreme Court on Monday lifted a lower court order that blocked the deportations. DC District Court Chief Judge James Boasberg had blocked President Trump from invoking the rarely used wartime law last month, and later extended his temporary restraining order until at least April 12. The Trump administration filed an emergency request with the Supreme Court to review Boasberg’s pause on March 28, after a divided three-judge panel on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals rejected a request to lift the stay as litigation plays out.

Doral, Fla. — Wilmer Escaray left Venezuela in 2007 and enrolled at Miami Dade College, opening his first restaurant six years later. Today he has a dozen businesses that hire Venezuelan migrants like he once was, workers who are now terrified by what could be the end of their legal shield from deportation. Since the start of February the Trump administration has ended two federal programs that together allowed more 700,000 Venezuelans to live and work legally in the U.S. along with hundreds of thousands of Cubans, Haitians and Nicaraguans. The Surplus with these Countries has grown during the ‘Presidency’ of Sleepy Joe Biden,” Trump blasted out on Truth Social Sunday night as he attempted to justify the action he took against around 90 nations last week. “We are going to reverse it, and reverse it QUICKLY. Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has filed a resolution to remove U.S. District Court Judge James E. Boasberg for failing to uphold the Constitution’s “good behavior” clause—without requiring the traditional two-thirds Senate vote. The resolution, submitted in the House of Representatives, alleges Judge Boasberg—currently Chief Judge of the powerful United States District Court for the District of Columbia—knowingly abused his position to interfere with the constitutional authority of President Donald Trump. The resolution declares Judge Boasberg’s conduct a breach of constitutional order, particularly his unlawful meddling in President Trump’s lawful directive
