Damar Hamlin told Buffalo Bills fans to “keep praying” for him in his first public remarks after he was hospitalized when his heart stopped during a game on Monday. “Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much,” Hamlin said in a tweet on Saturday. “Thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recovery, keep praying for me!” Hamlin, the 24-year-old safety for the Bills, suffered cardiac arrest when he was hit during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati, prompting resuscitation on the field.

Republican Kevin McCarthy has been elected as the new US Speaker after winning the 15th vote following chaotic scenes in Congress.
Mr McCarthy's party had taken control of the House – the US lower chamber – following the midterm elections in the autumn, with a slim 222-212 majority.
Usually, election of the Speaker follows seamlessly, as a formality, with the leader of the largest party a shoo-in for the job.
However, recent splits in the Republican party meant that did not happen until the 15th round of voting. In the 14th ballot, Mr McCarthy received 216 votes - one shy of the number needed for a victory - as a small faction

Hackers obtained the email addresses of more than 235 million Twitter users and published them on an internet forum, according to a cybersecurity expert.
The breach “will unfortunately lead to a lot of hacking, targeted phishing and doxxing,” Alon Gal, co-founder of Israeli cybersecurity-monitoring firm Hudson Rock, wrote on LinkedIn. On his LinkedIn page, Gal — who called the breach “one of the most significant leaks I’ve seen” — posted screenshots of the hacked email addresses that he found on the dark web. “This database is going to be used by hackers, political hacktivists and of course governments to harm our privacy even further,” Gal told the Washington Post.

Victoria’s Secret brand CEO Amy Hauk resigned from her position after less than a year on the job amid the company’s disastrous woke reforms.
The company announced on Tuesday that Hauk would be stepping down from her position as CEO of its Pink apparel brand for teens and the overall company brand. Martin Waters, CEO of parent company Victoria’s Secret & Co., will take her place, according to CNN Business.
“Shares of Victoria’s Secret dropped 8% on the news during after-hours trading Tuesday,” noted the outlet.
“Sales tumbled in 2020 during the peak of Covid-19 but bounced back in 2021. They are projected to fall by up to 7% this year,” it added.

You remember this one. Last April, Florida put an end to the special status originally granted to Disney World back in 1967. The whole battle began after Disney decided to criticize the “Parental Rights in Education” bill which DeSantis had signed in March. Here’s a bit of background on the deal that was repealed.
Since 1967, Disney has received tax and regulation exemptions for an area known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The exemption in effect allows Disney to govern itself on Disney World grounds, including having its own fire department and board of supervisors, as well as its ability to oversee land and environmental regulations.

GOP leader Kevin McCarthy confronted Representative Matt Gaetz (R., Fla.) on the House floor on Friday evening after the California Republican lost his 14th bid for speaker.
Gaetz voted “present,” leaving McCarthy just one vote away from a win.
McCarthy could be seen making an animated last-minute appeal to Gaetz as the votes were tallied. Gaetz could been seen pointing a finger at McCarthy. After McCarthy walked away, Representative Mike Rogers of Alabama began to approach Gaetz. He was held back by fellow lawmakers. McCarthy received 216 votes in the latest round, while Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D., N.Y.) won 212 votes. Two McCarthy opponents voted for

John Bolton wants to make foreign policy great again. And he really, really, really wants to challenge Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. Welcome to 2023, y’all. This is how the new year will go. Republicans without a chance in the world of becoming the Republican nominee will begin to come out of the woodwork and tell some news outlet that they will run for president. It’s going to be 2015 all over again.
In this case, John Bolton told Good Morning Britain, of all places, that he will indeed challenge Donald Trump for the GOP nomination. Bolton is 74 years od now and shouting from the rooftops

When the House Jan. 6 committee released hundreds of documents from its investigation online at the end of the year, it inadvertently made public nearly 2,000 Social Security numbers belonging to high profile individuals who visited the White House in December 2020, according to a report.
The Washington Post reported Friday that the leaked Social Security information was included in a spreadsheet buried within the "massive cache" of records from the committee's work. Social Security numbers belonging to at least three members of Trump's cabinet, a few Republican governors, and several Trump associates were reportedly compromised. The data was part of the White House visitor logs published by the committee.

GOP leader Kevin McCarthy failed in an 12th attempt for the speakership on Friday but flipped 14 Republican detractors, appearing to confirm that talks between the factions are progressing as was announced earlier in the day.
Fourteen Republican hold-outs, including Representatives Brecheen, Bishop, Cloud, Clyde, Donalds, Luna, Miller, Norman, Perry, Roy, Self, Spartz, Gosar, and Ogles voted for McCarthy on the 12th vote for the position. McCarthy won a total of 214 votes during this ballot, according to C-SPAN’s unofficial tally.
In his statement on changing his vote to McCarthy, obtained by Politico, Self said: “My vote today was to show support for significant Rule changes to transform

Tallahassee - Following up on his comments about "trendy ideology" and partisan interest groups in higher education, Governor Ron DeSantis has named six people with ties to conservative institutions to the Board of Trustees at New College in Sarasota. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the State Senate.
The most prominent of the six nominees is Christopher Rufo, a Senior Fellow at the New York-based Manhattan Institute. Rufo has recently led the fight, according to a release from the governor, against critical race theory in American institutions, resulting in legislation in fifteen states. Rufo said in a tweer, "my ambition

Just how bad was Joe Biden’s decision upon taking office to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline? We now have an admission directly from Biden’s own administration. According to a newly-released report from the Department of Energy, which cited a variety of studies on the economic impact of the pipeline’s construction, the cancellation of Keystone XL cost somewhere between 16,149 and 59,000 jobs. Lost GDP from the project is also estimated to be between $3.4 billion and $9.6 billion.
Even when you only consider the SEIS, which is the government’s environmental impact study, the numbers of jobs and money involved aren’t small potatoes.
