Burger chain McDonald’s said Friday that it will review corporate staffing levels and aim to build more restaurants as part of an updated business strategy.
The new plan, announced in a letter from Chief Executive Officer Chris Kempczinski to global employees and seen by Reuters, calls for the Chicago-based company to cancel or “de-prioritize” some initiatives while also accelerating development.
That could lead to layoffs in some areas and expansion in others, the company said.
Well we know that individual stores are safe (?). In many cases they have three (3) workers total running a shift - a manager, a cook and a dogsbody (cashier, runner etc). Granted they've got their procedures detailed to a fine point for efficiency but that is still a skeleton crew.
Innovation is dead now, killed by bean-counters and wokies.

As long as there is a disincentive to work bottom rung, entry level, first job jobs, you won’t see the hustle and bustle of teenagers working for their first car, their own spending money, spending that money ay 1030 pm with friends in the back Of McDonald’s. The pride that comes with work vs the permanent childhood of reliance on the state.
McDonalds has no idea what made it great.
Oh yea, and the millennials self made God finds carbs sinful.

Was in McDonald's the other night.
After having been away for a spell.
The experience was shocking.
Grandma asking, "Where's the beef?" came easily to mind.
Let's just say that it won't be long
before PETA has nothing to say to MickeyD's.
And no matter how they shuffle the chairs,
I'm probably done...

Just layoff or close all in the Southeast and move them all to Commiefornia. McDonalds is trash.

They shut down ALL their dine in for two and a half years. I will NOT eat in my car. I eat at a table. Then they eliminated all salads and their fruit parfait, and the grilled chicken sandwich. These were what I ordered when we frequently stopped there. And they have shoved those damned, hateful, miserable touchscreen "self order" abominations on us, it is very difficult to get a person to take an order.
I'll never eat in a McD's again after 50+ years of them being my preferred stopping place when driving across country. DONE. Never again.

Some of the happiest days of my life were when my children and then my grandkids grew up and I could drive past those "golden arches". I will never understand why adults frequent the place.

Their hamburgers are inedible. We used to enjoy the egg mcmuffins about once/month, but they are now smaller and cost a lot more. We sometimes stop there to use the restroom and that's about it.

I'm happy that I no longer go to McDonald's. I quit when they wanted me to order from a touch screen and I could not speak to a person about what I may want. I understand it is overpriced now for their sodden slop.

My DH and I were out running errands recently, and stopped at McDonald's for carryout to take home for lunch. The quarter pounders were very rare, and we had to microwave them before we ate them. The fries have been inedible for years, and after a few, they went into the trash. We haven't been back.

Complaining about the automation at McDonald's is like complaining about the self check out at stores. It's not big business trying to get rid of workers, it's their response to rising minimum wages and the subsequent rise in other employees salaries. You either keep all the employees and drive up the prices, or you find other ways to do the jobs people used to do.

New strategy but they will still serve the same shrunken, tasteless hamburgers that should be priced at fifty cents. If they pull one restaurant out of a blue city, be prepared for cries of racism, unfair wages and restricted access. Their only consolation is that they are still better than Burger King where a Whopper is now something like you explain to your girlfriend that she is getting.

Bring back the walk up windows and eat in your car. The way it used to be. No inside dining.

This is all cover. McDonald's doesn't want to pay--- more important, it cannot afford---- the minimum wages imposed on the company. Would you?

Overpriced plastic food does not appeal to me I don't care what McDonalds plans to do. I suggest going back to the market in Russia, Vlad could use them.

COVID really trashed a lot of businesses. Fast food was where I noticed it first. 20+ minute wait time, because of staff shortages. And then shocking increases in prices. What I paid for a Double Whopper with Cheese would have paid for a decent sit down dinner not all that long ago. I cut down my fast food purchases to close to zero.
The congestive heart failure diagnosis ended fast food, for me, forever. Just take a look at the salt content in fast food. I swear, Checkers garlic parmesan chicken wings approaches near lethal levels of sodium. A single Big Mac has almost 100% of daily recommended allowance for Sodium. Thats before you throw in the fries.
Salt, sugar and fat in processed foods is why we have an obesity problem.

I dont like them and only go when I have a lot of grandkids with me and not enough money for real food. They had an ad campaign in the 70's that targeted a demographic that was not mine. Every ad was loaded with smiling dindus but none of ours. Its pretty clear who they wanted there and it wasn't me.

When Corporations/companies openly Market Against people like me (50+ White)
then I have nothing to do with them. They are riding the Woke wagon down the drain.
Just don't pander back to the customer's that made you and then dumped.

Years ago, when we went to visit our kids in Charlotte, we would stop at McDs for lunch. We looked forward to it. About a year ago, I had an urge for a burger and stopped at a McDs. It was tasteless. I don't know what they have done to their meat, but it's no longer any good. That was it for me. As for the fries, you might as well eat the cardboard box. I had an old, very successful restaurant guy tell me the secret to that success. Good food and generous helpings. If it's good, people don't care about ambience, marketing or anything else. They will return again and again.
