The GOP’s Moronic House Speakership Fight

After four years of legislative malfeasance by Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic myrmidons, the Republicans will soon have a 222–213 majority in the House of Representatives. It should be obvious to the meanest intelligence that, to accomplish anything useful with such a narrow majority, the House Republican Conference has to close ranks and prepare for a war with a radicalized Democratic minority that will continue its ongoing effort to undermine the will of the voters.

I’ve been very focal in my criticism of McCarthy.
But Catron makes good points, particularly when McCarthy is contrasted w Elaine’s husband.

The solution is clear to see; make the next speaker a non-RINO, not a 'consensus or bridge builder.' Kevin McCarthy strikes me as someone squishy soft on liberal/progressive issues. We don't need a get along/go along wuss like Ryan, Boehner, or that diddler of little boys, Hastert.

Whatever his flaws, McCarthy is head and shoulders above Ryan, Boehner, or Hastert.

Before you seek to remove a speck from your neighbor's eye, first remove the log from your own.
That is where the GOP is. We have a multitude of "specks" -, fake Republicans - inhabiting the party. If we are to do battle, we must first neutralize thos specks.

“Vote for the most Conservative Candidate who can win.” ~ William F. Buckley It was correct then, and it’s correct now. The ones I’d support who might win won’t run. The ones I’d support who might run won’t win. Whether it’s 20 or 10 or 5, these principled holdouts against McCarthy would end up throwing it to whoever the Democrat minority is told to coalesce behind. Well, everyone here knows even McCarthy is better than that. If we’ve learned anything from having one narrow election after another stolen from us these past 62-ish years, it ought to be that we should stick together and win the sure things. But instead we eat our own. McCarthy will be head-and-shoulders better than any realistic alternative. He should bargain with the holdouts, and we’ll all be better for it, and then he should win 223 to whatever. But none of that should be in the news. And may God bless the USA.

Saying McCarthy is better than Mitch is like saying Pneumonia is better than cancer...I for one would rather be illness free! The lesser of two evils is never any good. The simple fact is McCarthy is not a reliable conservative, nor is he consistent. We do not need a leader who holds a wet finger pin the air to see which way the wind is blowing. IMHO, he's much too much like Bill Kristol and not enough like Newt!

How is it that a real conservative never rises to the top of the RINO party? I think we know there is simply Us vs Them! Those are the two parties today! McCarthy ain’t Us!

The GOP is not Conservative friendly. They prefer the Dems to true Conservatives. Being Conservative and belonging to the GOP is like being White and living in Watts or being Black and living in Marthas Vineyard. Todays GOP is to the Left of Kennedys Dem Party.

The Republicans that will vote against McCarthy have gotten nothing but the back of the hand from McCarthy, so are not going to vote for him. Those Republicans have received McCarthy promises before, and have been betrayed every time, which is why they are not going to vote for McCarthy. Yeah, it is personal.

Either way, whomever wins will need those conservative house members to get anything accomplished. Take what leverage you have and run with it.

And that's why we don't have a "democracy"...mob rule!
Politics is what it takes to gain office and keep it. The real problem with all this is typical of knuckleheads...they have no Plan B. I appears to be nothing more than a negotiating ploy. And by the end they will have run out of cards, one way or the other. Gaetz and Biggs are fools.

Let me see: Nancy Pelosi caved to the extreme left wingers known as The Squad at the expense of her more moderate members and the country. She is considered a savvy politician but we cannot ever have a Republican cave to the "extreme" right wing of his party which also represents many conservative Americans.
At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter if McCarthy or whomever is the speaker because this country is on a fast downward spiral. I hear not one Republican in Congress mention DEPORTATION. The border will never be secured again. The new GOP controlled Congress can have all their oversight hearings they want on the Bidens, the FBI, DHS, etc. and any referrals to DOJ will just be ignored. Jim Jordan like Trey Gowdy before him will sputter away and nothing will happen to any of these crooks.

Perfectly portrays GOP history. When the demoncrats win, the GOP loses. When the GOP wins, the GOP loses. Only a third party that is run the proper way and allows good people to guide it will fix our problem. It will be a painful transition but the next decade will be painful regardless so we might as well get on with. In the absence of good conservative leadership I will withhold my vote and my donation dollars. Pence, Romney, Christie, Mitch, don't even think about it.

A very small number GOP representatives don’t like McCarthy. I get it. But, continuing to be against someone without a viable alternative is the height of stupidity. If they continue to be obstinate, they might succeed in getting Adam Schiff as the next Speaker.
In the meantime, the Democrats are laughing their arses off.

Voting for what the establishment tells us is the most conservative who can win is what got us into this mess in the first place. Its what got us Bushes, McCain and Romney. How'd that work out? What do they say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?

After seeing Bohener and Ryan stab us in the back endlessly, we somehow have become wary of Speakers.
Personally, I think Scalise is a better conservative than McCarthy, but I really don't know about "effectiveness" which is a whole "nother" thing in these political games.

I think Joe Citizen should become Speaker. Joe Citizen has nothing to lose, doesn't need to make friends, can articulate conservative values, can point to what's wrong, and call out evildoers without hesitation.
