The old farmer was there with Washington when he crossed a frozen Delaware River in blizzard-like conditions on Christmas 1776. And so the photographer took a daguerreotype photo of Conrad Heyer in 1852, who 103 years early was the first European child born in Waldoboro, Maine. At 24, he had enlisted in the Continental Army and spent 1776 with Washington, whose rag-tag army went from victory in Boston to defeat in New York to a daring raid and stunning victory in the Battle of Trenton (snip)On December 25, 1776, Heyer participated in the Most American Christmas Ever when Washington crossed the Delaware River, raided Trenton and caught 1,400 Hessian troops

Spoiler alert. I loved all of this article but the last line was a real grabber:
The Most American Christmas Ever may not have involved elves, reindeer or a Red Ryder Daisy BB Gun, but that battle helped deliver the second-greatest Christmas gift (after the birth of Jesus, of course) for Americans.
Liberty.
Read the whole thing. The graphic near the end is priceless. You’ll br glad you did..

An astonishing read. How easy it is to forget what it has taken to get to where we are.
Very sad that our current leaders are self indulgent, self righteous ego maniacs blinded to the course of history by their pursuit of their low appetites.

Don't forget the defeat at the Battle of Brandywine which lead to Washington spending the winter in Valley Forge. That retreat went right through my back yard. There are a number of road signs in various locations describing the battle and a number of buildings still in use today that housed troops and the wounded from that battle. One building in particular which housed the wounded has been a restaurant for decades called the Dilworthtown Inn. It's usually decorated for Christmas with lights and evergreen and provides a wonderful atmosphere for dinner with its candlelight everywhere.

The Patriots who founded our nation were called "extremists" by the Loyalists. Think about it.
Merry Christmas to all.

If you only read one thing today, it should be this.
And another footnote, the commanding officer of the Hessian troops, a Col. Rall was very seriously wounded and surrendered to Washington's troops on his deathbed.
Because we couldn't get the full number of Washington's troops across, they couldn't hold Trenton, but it did put 1,000+ Hessian mercenaries out of the war, and was proof that we could win.
Merry Christmas.

#2, especially easy to forget when the commie-crats have deliberately infiltrated the education system over the past century and deliberately eliminated such historical information, substituting lies (indoctrination) for truth in history classes.

We need to flush the DC toilet.
The only way to do it is with a very, very, very, very bloody revolution that needs to be televised

Was watching Khristin Chenelworth re: Christmas on PBS while cooking and they changed, in What Child is This, Mary's breast to Mary's lap!!!!!!!!!!! However, SOMEHOW a wonderful Tabernacle Choir Christmas, very Irish, very old fashioned songs sung gloriously and with Neil McDonough, a practicing Catholic, narrating, slipped through...how on earth did this glorious program manage to show up...PBS channel 10????? (Long Isand PBS is doing Grantchester reruns ALL day...I guess that poses for religion for them.)

The most intense effort by the democrats to demoralize Americans at this Christmas time... hasn't worked...WE sing our songs and thank God for His Son...and enjoy our families and memories of our great country...the shame game and stealing our grandchildren's future has fallen on deaf ears....my Rosary this morning included thanks for our blessings and a promise of better things to come when President Trump takes over again in 2024...

If you want to read a fascinating, page-turning historical novel of the American Revolution, pick up and then try putting down “Prelude to Glory” by Ron Carter. I am on volume two of nine books. It is the story of five families, their lives, loves, hardships and sacrifices. Each chapter is footnoted. The scenes of battle are shockingly gripping and the characters very developed. Worthy of a prime time series.
