The Left, the NeverTrump Right, and many independents are tiring of Donald Trump’s recitations of prior, however justified, grievances at the hands of the media, the Democratic Party, the administrative state, and hard-core Left.
The conventional wisdom runs that Trump’s whines and victimization recitations reveal deep paranoias, and increasingly to an obsessive degree. We are told that his near neurotic obsessions with the unfairness of his critics are alienating the independent voter, who finds Trump’s strolls down 2020-21 memory lane the same-old, same-old ad nauseam.
It is true that the media and Dems have been absolutely horrific in their treatment of Trump, but it also true that it is possible to frame a guilty man.

Trump was the only conservative who ran for POTUS since Reagan.
Vote for conservatives or stay home. And no, Republican is not the same as conservative.

VDH seems to have lost his way recently with his own relatively mild case of TDS. He writes,
"Trump was certainly reckless in cheering on volatile demonstrations on January 6, 2021."
Where is the evidence for this? President Trump urged his followers to be peaceful in exercising their Constitutional rights.

A full read is called for. I think VDH is correct. His summation of the people President Trump brought into the circle to do Americas work is dead on. He gave them all a chance at lofty ideals and they failed him and America. Pence is at the very top of that mud pile.

I always viewed Trump was painted the equivalent of the WWE wrestling villain. Now, everybody boo.
The irony is many of the 'bad guys' in wrestling were more popular with the audience than the 'good guys'.
Regardless, it's a stage production. So is the vilification of Donald Trump Millions of people fell for it.
Don't forget to boo Trump now.

So, you prefer Biden, Harris or some other liberal commie Dem to any Republican not named Trump. Is that right? Great advice.

This presupposes the picture we are being given of Trump is accurate or objective, even though it is a caricature created by the very swamp media that tried to paralyze him using fake news in general and a russian hoax in particular.
Reality filtered through the msm becomes downright surreal, narrative instead of news.

VDH going squishy is concerning. He's been hanging out with the media too much since his retirement from academia. Donald J. Trump is not Captain Queeg. You would think a historian of his stature would recognize a transformative historical figure living in his own time.
President Trump is a great man, but he is still a man. He's a man of extremes; in his physique, intellect, humor, foibles, strengths and weaknesses. He loves America with a passion so huge he sacrificed a personal golden life of luxury to save her from sure destruction. He has given his all to Make America Great Again. He has sacrificed the privacy of his home, his family's security and put his personal freedom at risk for every American...even those that hate and despise him. His enemies will do everything in their power to keep him from his rightful presidency. He will not give up. He will not give in. We can not let him stand alone.
Our country was founded on the sure belief in God and His Providence. We must return in faithfulness to God. First in our homes; begin daily prayer with your families. Second, return to your churches; invite family and friends to join you. Public, communal worship is important. For the unchurched, there is a faith community out there for you - an ember alone soon looses its glow. Read and meditate on Holy Scripture; pray and fast. First and foremost we are in spiritual warfare; without prayer fortification first, our political efforts will not bare fruit. We live in exciting times. Its the First Week of Advent. Our Savior is Coming!
AMDG then MAGA!

It seems protecting the republic, the Best and most moral example of democratic self governance and free markets to the benefit of the dignity and initiative of the individual, guided by God's hand and the manifested values of Judeo Christian western civilization, bought to these shores by those unwilling to bow to the King and the Aristocracy of their homeland, is just too much work. We should stop obsessing about how great it was or how to make it great again. We had a good run, So stop whining.

Naysayers, re-read the article. VDH is both saying that Trump is NOT Captain Queeg, but then neither was Captain Queeg. Personally speaking, President Trump is a bit crude for him and me to ever be the best of buddies. Nevertheless, I will vote for him for president again in a heartbeat.
God Bless President Trump. MAGA!

When Trump talks about 2020, he is a voice for those who tried to vote but were not counted. This is no grief in the eyes of the left, the never trumpers, and independents, but it is to those who thought their votes mattered.

WOW! Mr DH gives us the Must Read of the century!!!
Lays it all out bare and omits only one treasonous conspirator: outgoing potus, the demon Oblabber. (Of low muscle tone.) Who personally initiated an investigation against the incoming POTUS by the embedded Justice Dept. on a pretense which he knew to be false.
More oily than a barrel of crude, 44 glides right past the BS detector of the electorate as he continues to ooze from The Cape.
But I take nothing away from this piece. It is superb. Exactly what we've been waiting for. Thank you Mr. DH.

Re: #2 - A populist, as a host of Trump supporters have labeled him, is not the same as a conservative either. A populist may favor left-leaning policies on Monday and right leaning policies on Tuesday. Like modern political polling, populists are typically not ideologically consistent as are conservatives and progressives along the political spectrum.

"Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you." (Old 1960s poster that we proudly displayed under our black lights.)
If you have a presidential election stolen right out from under you, by dirty democrats, the Supreme Court, congress, the FBI and the intelligence services, that gives you every right to whine. Since nothing has been done and elections are still being stolen, I would say he didn't whine loud enough.
What's with the sudden love affair with Mike Pence? There's no way in hell...

What a surprisingly obtuse question from VDH!
The man spared us from President Hillary. If he had done nothing else, that alone would be deserving of our gratitude. The fact that he reversed so much of the damage done through Obama, Clinton, and two Bushies, while fighting his own party, the opposition party, and the media who carry their water, is all a testament to his competence, intelligence, and intestinal fortitude.
Captain Queeg? More like Captain America.

So tired of all the rhetoric about President Trump's personality and his flaws...he's one in a million...and he has every right to complain about being stripped of his second term by the oligarchs and the ruling elites in Washington...President Trump brings out the worst in people who could never accomplish what he has....their self worth issues are not our problem....K street in Washington has ruled DC with their paid lobbyist from all over corporate America....and President Trump called them on it...and they can't stand it...

I agree with Zigrid #28! Victor and others are now trying (or still?) to tell President Trump not to be Trump. Good luck with that! Not going to happen! President Trump has good political instincts and he's learned the hard way about who is a friend or an enemy in the D.C. political world. God bless you Mr. President! We pray for you and your family daily!

A conservative site did an unscientific poll about GOP candidates and 2024 last week; DeSantis was at the top almost 2:1 over Trump. After the shock wore off I had to say that while I want Trump back because his track record cries out for a second term, one has to wonder if we also need the obstructionism of the GOPe and the TDS crowd to stymie us when we're up to our gluts in alligators?
I don't trust DeSantis as far as I can throw him but if Trump doesn't get out there and give us a vision instead of a rehash of the 2020 larceny then I can see the Dems lined up to help him secure the nomination, just as they have in other places. We've seen that the red wave was nothing more than a old guy with an enlarged prostate

10, I see no difference between a non-conservative Republican and Pelosi, AOC and the rest of the America hating trash.
I -only- vote for people I -want- to win. I -never- vote for the lesser evil. You get to the same place, just a little slower. I will -never- vote for the lesser evil. They are still evil and undeserving of my support. My voting for those horrible people you are saying with your vote you want more of what they've already done to this country. I do not. Given a choice between, say, Mike Pence and AOC, I will leave that part of the ballot blank by writing in Mickey Mouse.
Thank you, this is great advice... if you want conservatives in office.
If you aren't really conservative then go ahead and vote for Pence. That's on you when he does a George Bush and wrecks the country. I will not vote for such a man.
Summary: A vote is a positive affirmation of voter's desire for candidate to be in office. I do not desire non-conservatives in office. Therefore I will not vote for non-conservatives no matter what silly meaningless letter is next to their name.
I can explain what it means to be a conservative. It's a life philosophy.
Can you explain what it means to be a Republican? I can't. It's just an empty word.
