Before there was Linda Tripp--before there was Monica Lewinsky, even--there was Lucianne Goldberg. There's always been a Lucianne Goldberg. "This was years ago," Lucianne is saying. She's sitting in the bar of a steak-and-martini joint on Manhattan's West Side. We're done with the martinis, and now she's stabbing at a plate piled with steak tartare.
"This gal calls me, says she wants to do a book about all these Republican Congressmen she's--well--she's known." The way she says it, the word drips with such lubricity that you can't help knowing what known means.
"One chapter on each Republican," she continues. "One on [famous Republican name deleted], one on [ditto], another on [ditto].

What a hoot it must have been to be in her inner circle. I’m so thankful that she was on our side!

I was here as a poster on L.com at the beginning. I was the original “Stymie” for those who may remember or care.
I forget the context, but I once posted a joke saying that “Big cats can be dangerous, but a little pu_ _ y never hurt anyone” (meow, meow…get it?) . . . except I didn’t censor the word as I just did here.
Lucianne PERSONALLY sent me an email sternly admonishing me NEVER to use that word again on her site . . . . . and I didn’t.
Remember- This is a Salon, not a Saloon.
Miss you Lucianne!

Remember when donations were accepted to keep the “salon” a float. I donated a little and always received a hand written thank you. Classy

You are my lone super heroine Lucianne.
Thank you for being a winner without peer and showing us how, and putting “them” in their places definitively.

I’ve been an L Dotter for 25+ years. A loyal poster and commented. I had several hassles over the years. Society Dweller, JediJerry, GoodDeal. She was such a great woman. Grace integrity and a heart of gold. Say what you want about her but those of us that were her loyal followers know the truth.

I remember when Joshua died .It felt like a double loss, her family’s and that pain was dreadful and our’s here was palpable.I still wonder what would have been his path helping her . His voice was so original , too.
Had been censored here for politics at the MAga start .but things changed and the rebel rebellion against “ authorities” cascaded .Her voice here was still explaining , exposing the bad , the arrogant , hypocritical and very incongruity of this , our America .
The left is still trying to rudely dismiss her .Ain’t gonna happen .She lives here still

A very interesting profile Can anyone comment on how accurate it is? I have the impression that it is right on target, but have no solid basis for that.
Aside from smacking a rotten person like BillyJeff around, which was richly deserved, she's created a wonderful space here where I've spent time for years.
Thank you, Lucianne!

Buying a tape recorder and saving the blue dress possibly saved Monica's life although she never forgave Linda or Lucianne. Without them she might have met the same fate as Vince Foster or Chandra Levy.
And without that 'scandal' the indiscreet Lucianne Goldberg might never have created Lucianne.com. Most of us, who've been here since the beginning can't imagine how we'd start our day without it.

I sent in a small donation for this website once when it was requested. Not much of an amount - maybe $25. I was surprised when I received a thank you note handwritten by Lucianne. I have kept that note as I would an autograph by Mickey Mantle or Babe Ruth.
As to the tone and believability of this article, it feels right on to me. I've seen video clips of Lucianne and the descriptions in this article fit the image I have of her in my mind's eye and ear.
Why can't a Time magazine article these days be as spot on?

Thomas Lifson at American Thinker had a wonderful piece on Lucianne, posted here several days ago. Comment I wrote following Lifson's remembrances is below:
For some twenty years I've also begun my day visiting lucianne.com. An invaluable site.
Lucianne was one tough lady with very strong opinions. Waste her time and she'd bite your head off. So, if you interacted with her, you learned to get to the point.
Ten years ago, I asked for her help in publicizing my book of political satire. She was all in, making suggestions, asking what she could do to give the book exposure. She announced the publication in Must Reads, a signal honor.
My condolences to her family.

May Lucianne forever rest in peace. I know it'll take a bit longer for those left here. For those of us of a ''certain age'' here is Bill Withers' timeless ''Ain't No Sunshine'' and it still brings a gut-punch.

FTA, one of the closing lines - ""After this thing is over," she says, "we'll move on to the next thing. There's always more to come. Especially now that I know how."
In this life, there was a small group of people in politics who I always wanted to know personally. President Ronald Reagan was one. PM Margaret Thatcher was another one. President Donald J. Trump is yet another one. Rush Limbaugh is definitely another one.
Lucianne Goldberg - the Dear Abby of politics is most definitely yet another one.
Could you imagine what it would have been like if Lucianne was President Trump's WH press secretary.
Rest in peace, dear lady.

First joined Ms. Lucianne's blog during the Monica days when I discovered her when a lib trashed her. Couldn't believe it when she wrote me a hand written note thanking for a contribution. Imagine. A celebrity writing a nobody. Enjoyed the columns written by her son Jonah until he went over to The Dark Side. Not to go off topic, but she made it to 87 even though she was a chain smoker. Used to smoke but gave it up when I set myself on fire. The thing I like the most about the Lucianne blog is, within reason, you can write what you want without being flogged or keelhauled. Thank you Ms. Lucianne for sharing part of your fabulous life with us. RIP.

I am so grateful for this salon. Lucianne neutered Clinton and had him saying the era of big government is over. Lucianne delayed the socialist takeover of America through Monica Lewinsky. RIP.

I am really distressed. Lucianne has been a big part of my life since I heard her so long ago that I can't really remember how long it has been. I was getting up at 5AM to listen to her and I also loved Sydney and the Animal Corner and his love of opera. I also ponder occasionally about the asian walking fish that were invading the countryside. My only consolation is that I am 84 years old and will be hitting 85 unless I decide to leave early and see how Sydney is doing with the cats, dogs, and Pygmy goats who have been in his care and and said that they wait with bated breath for Lucianne to get there because she is the light of their lives.

Loved her, miss her, Forever. I still have emails back from her when my sign-on failed. One of them said, way back," oh....out for dinner, give me few minutes and we'll get you back on!! She then checked back herself to make sure I was back on.....I've been here since almost opening day, though my first name got lost in server loss as it was then.
Will miss this broad, and miss even more, going back even further, her own commentary on this site as it opened the day...none more important than 9/11 and days immediately following, esp as Josh hauled himself downtown every day and slept - wherever - as it was then. For those not here then, go to Way Back Machine and grab those days. You probably won't find other days prior, but her commentary was priceless and you hung on it with your coffee as your hair was dripping on the floor. EARLY DAYS. BEST DAYS.
Again, will miss this "broad" forever. Loved her! Thank you, Staff. Keep Going.

Miss Lucianne was one in a million. Enjoying all of the great posts. We miss her.
Have spent lots of time today, re-reading many of the OLD links from years past that I kept; Recipes, and others....Some very long ones written after 9/11....So many wonderful memories. God Bless.
