When candidate Joe Biden promised that if elected president he would unite the country, did he think he could do it alienating roughly half the population? Or did he mean he would unite the Democrats and independents against the “MAGA Republicans”? Thursday’s speech clearly indicates what he had in mind was the latter.
Last week, Biden smeared Donald Trump supporters, calling them semi-fascists who practice “burn-it-all-down politics” and face “backwards full of anger, violence, hate and division.”
One of the most appropriate and fitting responses we saw

Moscow/London - The chairman of Russian oil and gas giant Lukoil has died after falling out of the window of a hospital in Moscow, according to Russian state media.
"The man fell out of the sixth-floor window and died as a result of his injuries," a source told TASS.
Lukoil confirmed the death of its chairman on Thursday in a statement published on its website. Ravil Maganov "passed away following a severe illness," Lukoil said, making no mention of a fall. "Maganov immensely contributed to the development of not only the company, but of the entire Russian oil and gas sector."

I usually prefer to stay away from the ancillary stuff, but the remarks by Joe Biden today were not normal, not even close. (snip) These are not modified images or changes in presentation; they are exactly what was broadcast to the nation. It looks straight up evil. Like something out of a hellscape theatrical production intended to showcase Baal as the “soul of the nation.” (snip) I have never seen anything even close to this in a presidential address. Beyond creepy.

Jane Fonda has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and has started chemotherapy, the 84-year-old actor announced Friday. She shared the news in an Instagram post, explaining that she is hopeful despite the diagnosis. "This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky," she wrote. She said she has been managing well with chemotherapy so far and intends on carrying on with her responsibilities. "I'm doing chemo for 6 months and am handling the treatments quite well and, believe me, I will not let any of this interfere with my climate activism," Fonda said. She

Presidential historian Michael Beschloss said Thursday on MSNBC’s “All In” that he was part of a group of historians that advised Presidentii Joe Biden that democracy was in danger like it was before the Civil War and World War II.
Hayes said, “President Joe Biden just delivered an argument on behalf of American democracy. The speech is a response to the acute threat Donald Trump and what he calls MAGA Republicans continue to present to the future of the American experiment following his attempted coup and as they quite openly plot another.” He added, “Biden was reportedly inspired in part by a closed-door meeting with a group of historians

President Joe Biden’s Thursday evening speech targeting supporters of former President Donald Trump was mocked on social media, with many users poking fun at the stage.
The speech, held in Philadelphia, marked continued attacks on supporters of Trump, reiterating earlier attacks in which he claimed Republicans embraced “semi-fascism” at an Aug. 25 fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Maryland, and also attacked “MAGA Republicans” during a Tuesday speech in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Biden called “MAGA Republicans” a threat to democracy and doubled down on his rhetoric calling supporters of former President Donald trump “extremists.”
WMAL talk show host Larry O’Connor threw the epithet Biden directed at Republicans back at the president.

If state Rep. Marcus Evans has his way, Chicago will enter the race to build the first offshore wind farm on the Great Lakes. Evans has introduced a bill that lays the groundwork for a proposed wind farm in Lake Michigan, about 10 miles from the shores of the Southeast Side. The bill sets up a fund that would help the state to compete for federal money, including $230 million for port infrastructure projects available from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Illinois would enter the race behind Ohio — where the Icebreaker wind farm in Lake Erie recently won a court battle that should allow construction of a demonstration project

Serena Williams is finally disappearing from tennis. That’s the good news. The bad news is that she sees her career “evolving,” which means she will force her idiot politics onto us from other platforms.
Perhaps in a most fitting way then, Williams announced her retirement claiming life is unfair, sounding like a child that didn’t get a second ice cream cone.
Apparently, unfair and oppressed means paying more for a single tennis outfit, worn for about two hours, than most people make in a year. Yahoo! News writes:
“For her first US Open 2022 look, Williams wore a custom

Last night I got to thinking about how many posts I’ve written for Hot Air. I’ve looked at the total before but it never sticks in my mind. Big numbers seldom do.
My guess was 15,000. The reality: 36,590. That’s six per day, every day. For 16 years.
My takes may be terrible but I make it up on volume.
This post, number 36,591, will be the last. (snip) Lastly, to those who spent the last seven years barking insults at me in the comments for not genuflecting to Trump, I’ll give you this: You’re not phonies. You believe what you say. We have that much in common.

Back in the 90s, at the height of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the establishment media hammered home the proposition that the individual character of a chief executive didn’t matter. He could be a cheerful rogue and serial philanderer like Bill Clinton, but the Left insisted that was a private matter and that the only thing Americans should care about was that he was a competent and capable president (which he wasn’t, but that’s another story). These assertions have become the conventional wisdom since then, but Old Joe Biden is now putting them to the test.
On Tuesday, Fox News’ Lisa Boothe enunciated a simple truth that shows

A recent top-secret cable sent by CIA Headquarters to its field stations apparently warned in stark terms of the loss of a substantial number of assets. In particular, the message focused on issues with the secure handling of sources and apparent errors made by CIA case officers that had led to the compromise of their sources. If true, this news ought to alarm every American, and drastic, corrective action ought to be taken immediately. CIA is taking a lot of hits these days. It should. Its leadership has gone dangerously astray and gotten involved in domestic political matters which should never be the province of a foreign intelligence organization.
