Ireland was once famous for dispatching Catholic missionaries to pagan lands. But now an increasingly secularized Ireland needs missionaries sent to it. The once-pious island has gone from saving civilization to losing it, plunging into a hedonistic culture that promotes “abortion rights” and the sexual revolution.
The repulsive New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd recently chortled that “Ireland and the United States have traded places.” In the past, she said, the Irish went to America for abortions. Now Americans after the collapse of Roe v. Wade will go to Ireland for them. Dowd sees this as great progress: “Ireland leaped into modernity, rejecting religious reactionaries’ insistence on controlling women’s bodies.

A lot of us fantasize the Ireland portrayed in "The Quiet Man", and if that land ever really existed it is gone now. I seem to remember reading they outlawed smoking in pubs a few years ago, and they are flooding the country with Moslem invaders.
My ancestors on my mom's side came from there, and I have absolutely no desire to go there. If I want to see a country committing suicide I can look right here for free.

Women can still go about getting knocked up. They’ll just may have to travel a little farther here to rectify the inconvenient situation.

As usual, Moo Doo is full of Barbra Streisand. Why fly to Ireland to scrape your baby down the sink when you can go to any pro abortion state in the USA? Lying Liar.

Corinthians 9:6. "As you sow, so shall ye reap." IMO, the Irish have earned the right to turn their backs on the Irish Catholic Church. Everyone here knows what I'm talking about.

When I was growing up, there was always a priest from Ireland assigned to our parish. I though most priests came from Ireland. I never, ever thought they would allow abortions.

Why would anyone fly to Ireland for an abortion when they only have to hop over to a nearby state to get one? Dowd has “wet brain” from her massive amount of time spent with alcohol.

If the stories we've read over the past decade or so about how the Church treated unmarried pregnant women and their children are true, the Church slit it's own throat.

Maureen Dowd has an odd preoccupation with 'french kissing.' She has mentioned this many times in her writings, enough that it can draw the attention of even the casual, once in a while reader. Perhaps a visit to a follower of Sigmund Freud might be helpful for her.

About 50 years ago working class Protestantism died out in Scotland, and socialism took its place. Now Scotland has a birth rate that is on track for extinction.

My Irish friend, a staunch Catholic, said they really started downhill when they elected Leo Varadkar as their first gay premier or "poofter" as he called him.

Perhaps some African Christian churches can send missionaries to Ireland and return the favor.

the Irish have always boasted on their high level of education and for the most part that was true but the fork in the road was reached and Irish leadership took the wrong turn in the road and with the dumbing down and a decaying civilized society, the turn at the fork has proven disastrous. Ireland is much less of a country, in a civilized way than it has ever been in its history

I am shocked that Moo Dowd is still arounds. One thing for certain, she was never in a position to "need" an abortion.
Moo Dowd in her prime was kinda' sorta' but not really cute. But any guy that tried to talk to her in a bar would have run screaming for the exit after about 20 seconds of hearing the stupid and evil things she had to say!!! And she has only gotten older, uglier, and more hate-filled since she left those kinda' sorta' but not really cute days far behind her. At this point, she would be going home alone if she was in a bar at closing time full of super-horny guys that just got out of prison and haven't been with a woman in decades.
I don't hate Moo Dowd. I just really pity her. It must have been a living Hell to go home alone every night and drink herself to sleep with bourbon and scotch...
