The court-authorized search of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate is another unmistakable signal that the Justice Department is trying to build a criminal case against him arising out of the Capitol riot. Ostensibly, the search relates to a long simmering dispute between the former president and the government over Trump’s potentially illegal retention and mishandling of classified information. But don’t be deceived. National Archives officials alerted the Justice Department months ago regarding missing records and possible classified information violations.

As the Wyoming primaries approach, The New York Times is already preparing the post-election spin boosting the post-congressional exploits of Rep. Liz Cheney. The Aug. 8 front-page headline was "Cheney Ready to Lose a Race, But Not a Fight." Times reporter Jonathan Martin laid it on thick: "She has used the Aug. 16 contest as a sort of a high-profile stage for her martyrdom — and a proving ground for her new crusade." Martyrdom? She's not being burned at the stake like Joan of Arc, even if that's the kind of moral high ground the liberal media coverage suggests.

What do we know? Law enforcement leaks and confirmation from the Trump side indicate that the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence indicate that the search was focused on presidential records and the possible violation of the Presidential Records Act. In her inside account of the raid, Miranda Devine puts it this way: “The Post has learned that the search warrant used by the FBI to enter the palatial Palm Beach property focused solely on presidential records and evidence of classified information being stored there.” The scope of the seized documents, however, may have extended well beyond the terms of the warrant.

During the runup to his 2016 presidential election victory, former President Donald Trump made illegal immigration and border security one of the primary aspects of his campaign’s platform. He would frequently encourage chants of “Build the Wall” at his rallies, and he wasn’t shy about calling out the problems America was facing due to the border crisis. Put simply: Donald Trump was the face of the “Tighten Immigration” movement. That is… until now. Though Arizona’s Republican Governor Doug Ducey has also been vocal in addressing the out-of-control influx of immigrants over our southern border,

FBI agents reportedly searched through former first lady Melania Trump’s wardrobe during Monday’s raid of Mar-a-Lago, the Trump family’s residence in Florida. Former President Donald Trump announced the FBI raided his home in a statement issued Monday. “These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar- A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”

END TRUMP RAID SECRECY. There's a line at the end of an Axios newsletter that sums up everything that is wrong about media coverage and public discussion of the FBI's unprecedented raid on the home of former President Donald Trump. "These investigations are top secret," Axios's Mike Allen wrote. "So more likely than not, we won't get the full picture any time soon." The bad word is secret. Excessive secrecy gave rise to wild, absolutely crazy speculation during the years of the Trump-Russia "collusion" investigation. Little bits of information would leak, upon which journalists and other talking heads would build elaborate structures of speculation.

At the hearing, Wray had admitted that disciplinary action against FBI personnel involved in Russiagate abuses had been "slowed down" and refused to call Russiagate a “hoax”. On Monday, President Trump revealed that Mar-a-Lago had been raided by "a large group of FBI agents". Any warrant for such a raid would have been signed off on by Attorney General Merrick Garland and his associates in the Biden administration which expects to face the former president in the next election. The “Inflation Reduction Act,” which as we’ve pointed out is unlikely to tame inflation, contains $80 billion in funding for the Internal Revenue Service to hire a staggering 87,000 new agents to slog through the financial affairs of Americans. The allocation is a 600 percent increase over the agency’s 2021 budget of $12.6 billion. The bill cleared the Senate Sunday and now heads to the House, where it’s expected to pass. It would more than double the agency’s current staffing, bringing it up eventually to 165,000 people. That’s more than the population of Tempe, Arizona. The Washington Free Beacon reports that the new hires will make the IRS workforce larger than

As the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes, Trump endorsed Michels back in June.
