Ostensibly, the search relates to a long simmering dispute between the former president and the government over Trump’s potentially illegal retention and mishandling of classified information. But don’t be deceived. National Archives officials alerted the Justice Department months ago regarding missing records and possible classified information violations.

House Republicans demanded the Department of Justice now release not just the warrant used to raid Mar-a-Lago but the highly detailed accompanying affidavit.
Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday he would ask a judge to unseal the warrant, barring former President Trump's objection. Trump released a statement Friday calling for the warrant to be released immediately.
But the government has not yet taken steps to release the affidavit used in support of the warrant, which would reveal in further detail the broad investigation into Trump.
The warrant that authorized the search of former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago shows it was issued by U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart on Aug. 5, 2022, at 12:12 p.m.—nearly three full days before the Justice Department and FBI conducted a raid to execute it.
The raid did not occur until the morning of Aug. 8, 2022, when federal agents from the FBI arrived at Mar-a-Lago to execute the search warrant.
The document, obtained and reviewed by Breitbart News, shows that the DOJ and FBI waited several days after Reinhart approved the warrant to conduct the raid, something that severely undercuts the talking points issued by Attorney General Merrick Garland
