"For the first time in a decade, our economy is in recession. It’s not official yet – the group that dates recessions doesn’t act until after the fact – but there’s little doubt that we’re in the midst of a downturn.”
That was economist Jared Bernstein back in December 2001. [snip] That year saw only two non-consecutive quarters of GDP decline. The unemployment rate never got over 5.7%. And when the year was over, GDP had climbed 1%. But it’s still listed on the recession roster.
Today Bernstein, who sits on President Joe Biden’s Council of Economic Advisers, is trying to argue

Health care costs in the U.S. are too high. We all agree on that. But it’s important to define the word “high” and put costs in proper context. [snip] Health spending is always measured as a percentage of GDP to show how the U.S. spends “too much” on health care. But the following graph puts health care spending in better context: This graph, developed by blogger Random Critical Analysis, explains U.S. health care spending better than any other. It shows spending is appropriate when compared to household disposable income (HDI). Health care spending in the U.S. as a percentage of HDI is reasonable, as the shaded area shows.

‘We’re going to build a different future with one — one with clean energy, good-paying jobs.”
That was President Joe Biden talking about the climate “crisis” and how it “is literally an existential threat to our nation and to the world.”
Right about the time Biden was giving this speech, the World Economic Forum painted a picture of what Biden’s future would look like.
Suffice it to say, if you like socialism, you’ll love it. Because it involves a radical transformation of our economy that brings the end of private ownership of things like cars, phones, laptops, and other electronic devices.

The news these days for President Joe Biden and his errant son Hunter is almost all bad. As the Justice Department investigates Hunter Biden for tax and weapons charges, it’s become increasingly obvious over the years that Joe Biden has far more to answer for than Hunter does. The headlines haven’t been kind to the Biden White House of late: “Hunter Biden payments to Eastern European escort ring were flagged by bank: Report,” “Hunter Biden laptop shows dozens of meetings with dad, business partners,” “Overwhelming Evidence: Joe Biden Lied, Had Dozens of Meetings with Hunter Biden’s Business Partner,” CORRECTION*

Much has been written and said by some writers, politicians, and journalists about “fake news,” that is, news reports that have been deliberately distorted or are outright lies done for the sake of a particular ideology.
Ever since Donald Trump announced his candidacy, I have collected hundreds and hundreds of instances of fake news in print, television, and the internet. But almost nothing has been said or written about “news blackout,” that is, the deliberate, coordinated effort to exclude certain news events, or opinions, that contradict the journalist hivemind ideology. Though specific instances have been occasionally pointed out,

Joe Biden’s presidency has foundered as gasoline prices have soared, with readings in numerous polls showing record or near-record low favorability. Biden’s climate change policies, which many blame for the sudden surge in fuel costs, are now highly unpopular among average Americans, a new I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
For our online July I&I/TIPP Poll, taken from July 6-9, we asked 1,643 adults across America to consider the following statement: “President Biden has said that record-high gasoline and electricity prices are necessary for meeting his goal of eliminating fossil fuels in the U.S. to fight climate change.”

President Joe Biden thinks it’s important to decouple America from its reliance on fossil fuels. Most of America disagrees, yet he keeps pushing for the adoption of renewables to replace the energy that comes from traditional sources like petroleum and natural gas. That’s why we’ve seen the price we pay at the pump spike so high. Not that the green energy crowd is much bothered by that. To them, the decline in the consumption of fossil fuels reduces the production of greenhouse gasses, which is music to their ears. Yet while they call the tune, we pay the piper.

Remember back when the left kept yapping about how President Donald Trump secretly wanted to be a dictator, based on nothing but fearmongering?
Now, these same people are urging President Joe Biden to ignore Congress and the Supreme Court and enact sweeping powers over the country. In other words, to be a dictator.
Their reason? The weather.
Seriously.
Democrats are using the latest heat wave to push Biden to declare a climate “emergency” so he can bypass the legislative branch. Biden is reportedly considering doing just that.

If trends continue, Los Angeles County will issue an indoor mask mandate by the end of the month. Officials are of course saying they’re just following the guidelines. But they have no regard for freedom and refuse to acknowledge the data that show mask mandates are useless.
It’s as if they get a perverted thrill out of holding in their hands the raw power to dictate the terms of other people’s lives.
Los Angeles County reached the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s high community level last week. Which is “determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.”

When he signed the “American Rescue Plan” into law in March 2021, President Joe Biden bragged about how it would put “$1,400 checks into the pockets of millions of Americans; help to keep folks in their homes; help to put food on the table.” A family of four was in line to get $5,600, he said.
What he didn’t tell the public was that the rampant inflation his “rescue” plan would unleash would cost Americans more than the $1,400 Biden was handing out. Much more.
Biden’s $2 trillion “rescue” came after the Trump administration had already rushed through two massive

"Biden shakes hands with the air … again” is the label on a video clip of President Joe Biden after he receives \the Presidential Medal of Honor from Israeli Isaac Herzog at an event in Jerusalem.[snip] But that’s not the most embarrassing handshake flub at this event.
After carefully making his way down to his chair, Biden smiles — as though happy with his achievement — and then he and Harzog watch a pop duet sing a Hebrew rendition of “Let it Be.”
At the end of the song, they walk over to the singers,

Unwilling to take their political and legal losses like the good citizens of a democratic republic and work within the system, Democrats are more and more demanding they get their way through harassment that includes the threat of violence. What has set this country apart since its birth is unraveling.
The U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling, the “unflinching repudiation” of Roe v. Wade, set an already fuming political left on fire. And the flame still burns. White hot.
“The six justices who overturned Roe should never know peace again,” a Harvard law instructor, and democratic socialist, tweeted
