By now, you will have heard that Bruce Springsteen fans have been apoplectic over the news that tickets for his 2023 tour are in some cases going for $4,000 to $5,000. Ticketmaster, which is at least one corporation that the cultural elites do not seem to oppose, has defended the move by stating that it is part of its “dynamic system” allowing it to price “platinum” tickets on a system based on supply and demand. No need to find a scalper outside the venue. You can find one in just a few clicks. But as Bobby Olivier pointed out at NJ.com, back in 2009,

As much a rock ‘n roll fan as I was (from Chuck Berry to the Eagles), not once did I ever actively listen to Springsteen, hearing only random picks by radio dj’s. I wasn’t aware of his politics until Trump. It’s kind of hard to relate to a rich $650M leftist who lives on a vast NJ estate like a modern-day Bourbon.

I am a huge rock fan but I never got the critic's utter slobbering love for Bruce Springsteen. When it comes to blue collar rockers, I much prefer Bob Seger, John Mellencamp and George Thorogood. When Springsteen sings about cars and girls he's pretty good, but when he tries to get Serious he loses me.

Never did understand his growl "singing," poster #1, and I wouldn't pay a penny to be tortured by it.

Great article that expresses my sentiments and no doubt those of many others. Although I never much cared for Springsteen, he has/had a loyal following and rightly earned his millions appealing to them. Whether Springsteen ever truly was a blue collar guy is an interesting question, but there can be no doubt who he is now -- a super-rich elitist who hobnobs with corrupt old left-wing politicians and shares their utter contempt for ordinary Americans. In a way, his trajectory has mirrored that of the Democratic Party.

"Show me the money!" Bruce's first two albums were good, after that, he sold out. Bruce hates America, but loves the cash.

This warms my heart. Paying for those tickets leaves less $$ to send to the DNC.

I ran into Springsteen once, years ago in Los Angeles, while i was visiting my brother. He took us to a couple of bars & restaurants, and while we were sitting in a cafe, in walks what I at first thought was a bum right out of the Bowery. A long haired, greasy, unkempt dweeb in a long coat ( it was July!) was slowly walking down the aisle, followed by one of the biggest men I'd ever seen. At first I thought 'the club bouncer is going to throw him out', but then I recognized him as Springsteen and what must have been his bodyguard. He would've fit right in the homeless encampments all over LA now.

The elite horse show circuit is pretty pricey, eh Bruce? A friend took me to his concert in about 1977. I'd never heard of him. Credit where credit is due: it was a fantastic show.

I went to a Springsteen concert in Philadelphia back around 1973-4. It was before he was really known outside the mid-Atlantic region and it was a great show. I bought his first 2 albums but that was it. The bigger he got, the more I lost interest.
#10, I read years ago that he purchased a horse for a million dollars for his teenaged daughter to do those elite horse shows. Insane.

Just like Eric Clapton was probably the one who wrote “Clapton is God” on a wall I’ll bet Springsteen named himself The Boss.

He's a growling midget who can't sing. His daughter is quite the equestrian and I saw him at a hotel in Lexington KY. Must've been there to watch his daughter compete in dressage. Surprised how short Bruce is.

I would not attend a Springsteen concert if I had free admission to top tier seats and an open bar. He is one of those soy boy leftists who pretends to be one of the people but he is an elitist jerk.

brucey was the surprise concert for a giant Harley 105 th birthday party in Milwaukee , 2008. The singer is never pre announced just introduced as the show starts .He comes on stage a big reveal ..And says ,”i don’t have any motorcycle songs ..then starts with the freakin’ Johnstown flood dirge . about 20-25% of the audience having paid big bucks for this event ..up and walked out . We gave our tix to the bums outside the fence .
Riding home the next day , signs on overpasses , “ ride safe , sorry about springsteen “

Ii was never a Springsteen fan. His music was ok, not something I would spend money on to see or hear. In my youth, I visited Asbury Park several times. Even saw the Stone Pony where Springsteen reportedly got started. It just seemed to be disingenuous to sing about the people with blue collar jobs all the time while making millions doing it. Springsteen's head got too big, and he started believing all the hype about himself and then he started shooting his mouth off about politics. Bashing the very people his songs were all about.

Yeah, another hypocrite. I'm sure Chris Christie will be forking over $5000 for a ticket. And wouldn't it be funny if the Epstein list ever got released and Bruce's name was on it. Ya just never know....

The only Springsteen that I like is "Dancing in the Dark." I wouldn't pay ten cents to attend one of his concerts since I consider most of his other music is crap. However, there are people who will pay far more to see him in concert, and he's within his rights to "charge what the market will bear." That's capitalism.

Springsteen’s music is depressing. An hour of his caterwauling and I start pondering suicide before turning him off.
I prefer Bob Seger’s stuff any day, all day over that.

Worst concert I ever attended was Jackson Brown. I was not drunk or stoned, but fell asleep midway in his hypnotic repetition of chords and lyrics. Second worst goes to Joan Baez in front of a giant American flag on the campus of Vanderbilt U.

I'll admit I bought his tape Born in the USA at the mall as a teenager hanging out with my buddies. Nineteen eighty-five was a good year. Also thanks to MTV they played his hit Dancing in the Dark with a very cute Courtney Cox dancing on stage(and me dancing with my little sister around the living room to the amusement of my parents). The very good CBS cop show back in the early 2000's Cold Case highlights some of his song in their episodes. Predictably Bruce has become another Hollywood leftwing nitwit with his hatred of GWB and all in support of Al Gore (in his latter stance on the environment) and his support of Barack Obama. Which in my opinion he was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by him in 2016. Who can also not forget his distain for PDJT during his 4 years and his song supporting Creepy Sleepy Sloppy Joe titled The Rising. Bruce is free to take his "singing" talent (more like screeching) become a multi-millionaire and support whoever he wishes. That's what makes my country great. One the flip side of that as Conservative PDJT supporter (a White Nationalist in Blackface according to Bruce's buddy Biden) I'm free to say no thanks to all things Springsteen.
