As concerns mount about a possible recession this year, White House National Economic Council director Brian Deese argued that a second consecutive quarter of negative GDP growth was technically “not a recession.”
According to Deese, the “technical definition considers a much broader spectrum of data points.” He also emphasized the need to look ahead rather than “technical debates about backward-looking data.”
CNN “New Day” host John Berman said, “It sounds like you’re anticipating what will be comments from some saying two quarters of negative growth in a row — that’s a recession.”
“Right,” Deese replied. “And certainly, in terms of the technical definition, it’s not a

It is almost with an air of inevitability that the images and hyperventilating coverage of a group of Nazis will sweep across the media landscape with most any political gathering in Florida. The message of a DeSantis connection is clear, and the lasting impression of a growing problem of hatred in Florida is desired. That it is all built on a farcical premise and relies upon a group of stunted dolts is made obvious with any encounter of these "Nationalists Without A Country."
This past weekend, the outfit Turning Point USA staged its annual Student Action Summit in Tampa, and the press was focused excitedly on one item.

Former LSU All-American Mondo Duplantis added another medal to his collection Sunday night when he took the gold with a world record in the pole vault on the final day of the world championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Duplantis, the silver medalist at the 2019 world championships in Doha, claimed the gold at his second world championships to go with the gold he won at the Tokyo Olympics last summer.
This one was a big one.
Representing his mother's home country of Sweden, Duplantis broke his own world record when he cleared 20 feet, 4½ inches on his second attempt at Hayward Field.
In doing so, Duplantis easily bested American Christopher Nilsen,

To say that the Biden administration failed to think through the consequences of confrontation with Russia over Ukraine might be the understatement of the 21st century. Western observers are shocked—shocked —to learn that Putin will ally himself with our enemies. Wrote the Daily Telegraph on July 19, “Desperate for new friends, Vladimir Putin plots unholy alliance with Iran and Turkey.” This isn’t desperation, though, but a trade-off that Russia has pondered for nearly twenty years. Putin always has had the option to turn spoiler and to use Russia’s considerable capabilities in military technology to make life miserable for America and its allies, most of all Israel.

Former vice president and global warming activist Al Gore claimed in a pre-recorded interview Saturday that those who deny climate change are comparable to police officers who refuse to enter a school to stop a shooting.
In an interview set to air on Sunday, Gore told NBC, “You know the climate deniers are really in some ways similar to all of those almost 400 law enforcement officers in Uvalde, Texas, who were waiting outside an unlocked door while the children were being massacred. They heard the screams, they heard the gunshots, and nobody stepped forward.”

The skeptical philosopher David Hume is one of the giants not just of the Enlightenment, but of the whole history of philosophy. But that was not enough to save him from being canceled in his native Scotland. At the instance of “woke” students, who wallow in incorrigible ignorance, David Hume Tower at the University of Edinburgh was re-named “40 George Square.” Hume’s offense was that, while he opposed slavery, there is a footnote in a 1758 essay where he wrote that he was “apt to suspect the negroes to be naturally inferior to the whites.”
Now comes the good news: the University’s donors are not as benighted

Since his elevation to the pontificate in 2013, Pope Francis has consistently echoed the globalist narrative that we make sacrifices for the planet in “reparation” for the “sins” committed against her. His whole demeanor has been ecological as opposed to Catholic, though his latest stunt takes the cake. His meatless sacrifice is a mockery of the true sacrifice that Christians render to God
Francis is now urging the youth to “make noise” to be heard and to eat less meat as a means of curbing global warming and saving the planet. in a July 6 letter addressed to the participants in the European Union’s 2022 Youth Conference, the pope said.

The Federation Internationale de Nattacion (FINA), the governing body of swimming sports, recently ruled that male-to-female transgender athletes must establish that “they have not experienced any part of male puberty beyond Tanner Stage 2 or before age 12, whichever is later.”
“We have to protect the rights of all our athletes to compete,” explained FINA boss Husain Al Musallam, “but we also have to protect competitive fairness at our events, especially women’s competition and also the past record and achievement of the women.” This ruled out swimmers such as Penn’s Lia Thomas, formerly Will Thomas, who transitioned from the men’s team to the women’s team.

In just seven decades, America’s conventional (non-organic) farmers increased per-acre corn yields by an incredible 500% – while using steadily less water, fuel, fertilizer and pesticides – feeding millions more people. Among the many reasons for this miracle is their ability to control weeds that would otherwise steal moisture and nutrients from this vital food, animal feed and fuel (ethanol) crop.
Long-lasting herbicides don’t just control weeds. They also promote no-till farming, which helps farmers save costly tractor fuel and avoid breaking up soils – thereby reducing erosion, retaining soil moisture, safeguarding soil organisms, and locking carbon dioxide in the soil (reducing risks of “dangerous manmade climate change,” some say).

We're now about three and a half months out from the upcoming November elections, where voters will not only cast ballots in the midterms but gubernatorial races across the country, including in Georgia. The race is a re-match from 2018, with Gov. Brian Kemp (R) facing Stacey Abrams (D).
While the race was, until recently, considered a "Toss-Up," Cook Political Report has now shifted the race to the "Lean Republican" territory. Sabato's Crystal Ball and Inside Elections had already changed their ratings to "Lean Republican" and "Tilt Republican," respectively.
"As Axios reported, the majority of Kemp’s money has come from in-state donors ($26.2 million), while $10.2 million of Abrams’s

Distract, divert, dissemble. Welcome to Antifastan, Oregon, batting lead-off in this week’s West Coast, Messed Coast™ report. And hoo boy, what a line-up.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who has skillfully managed the Rose City into lawless, drug-soaked decline now can boast of another new low under his mayorship: his city becoming the murder capital of the West Coast, Messed Coast™—and other similarly-sized towns across the U.S. as well.
Take a bow, Ted.
Fortunately for Wheeler, he has a ready foil on which to blame the city’s 207-percent increase in the city’s murder rate since 2017 (in comparably sized cities) and 144-percent increase since 2017: guns.

Disgraced Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon has made another destructive decision by releasing a reputed gang member and convicted murderer from prison.
According to court documents, in March of 2015, Andrew Cahcu was 17 years old when he helped murder 41-year-old Louis Amela in Palmdale, California, during a robbery. Cachu was sentenced to a 50-year prison sentence, beginning in juvenile detention, according to Fox News Digital.
The murderer was released in November 2021–after serving just six years–following Deputy District Attorney Alissa Blair, a close Gascon ally, declining to present evidence at a hearing to decide whether Cachu should remain in

False flag? Yep. And the instigators have fled. Of course, we have hope that the guilty Democrats/Antifa will be identified and scooped up by law enforcement. Next time, throw a net over them and call the Fudd Bureau of Instigation. They'll be let go, like Colbert's crew.
