A California bill signed into law Tuesday will allow residents to sue the manufacturers of guns that are used in crimes. A 2005 federal law prevents gun manufacturers from civil litigation when their products are used in crimes. The office of Gov. Gavin Newsom said the new state law uses an exemption to the federal law that allows firearms makers or sellers to be sued for violating state laws on the sale or marketing of guns. “To the victims of gun violence and their families: California stands with you. The gun industry can no longer hide from the devastating harm their products cause,” Mr. Newsom said in a news release.

That idea would end the madness. If they don't like guns, they don't get them.

Too bad victims' families can't sue negligent government officials who play catch-and-release with dangerous violent repeat felons.

The Democrats have done this before. It was declared unconstitutional by a much more liberal SCOTUS, then.

The antidote: make the losing party pay the legal fees of the winning party.
Bye-bye nuisance lawsuits...(and Newsom lawsuits too)

The law should include fat people being able to sue silverware and dinnerware manufacturers for their obesity.

One of the top weapons used for homicide are hammers... yep, hammers. So, I guess the Stanley corporation had better gird up their loins for a rash of lawsuits from families of victims, since it's essentially the same thing.

“To the victims of car violence and their families: California stands with you. The automotive industry can no longer hide from the devastating harm their products cause,” Mr. Newsom said in a news release. The CEO's of GM, Ford and Chrysler could not be reached for comment. Elon Musk said, "Good luck suing me on Mars, dipwad." President Biden muttered something unintelligible between licks of and ice cream cone.

Manufacturers are protected by the Lawful Commerce in Firearms Act. I hope makers counter sue attorneys for filing such illegal, frivolous suits.

The left conveniently forgets shy the federal law was passed. It wasn't because the Firearm industry lobbied for like tge left believes.
It was passed because the Courts asked for it. The anti 2A groups were filing thousands of these frivolous suits all alleging the same thing. Since the gun manufacturers know guns can be used in crime they must be liable for all that crime.
The courts threw every single one of these cases out but the left just kept refiling. They were clogging up dockets and seriously delaying cases that actually had merit. So the courts asked for relief.
You can still sue the gun manufacturers for everything you can sue a car maker for. If there is a design defect or other negligent act made by the gun maker, they are legally at risk. If the product is legal, legaly made and legally sold then the manufacturer cannot be held responsible for its illegal use. That would be like suing car makers for DUI deaths. They know drunks might drive right?
All CA has done is revlog their courts with frivolous cases that will be, after wasting everybodies time, dismissed as without merit.

Let me try again. . .
When Kalifornia banned .50 cal weapons, Barrett stopped shipping to, or selling there.
Several PDs had rifles in for repair, and Barrett refused to send them back to CA.
