Recently, I sat in my airplane seat before takeoff and watched a parade of the obese squeeze down the aisle. Many seemed barely able to shuffle through the narrow space; how they would maneuver their bodies into the 18”-wide seats that awaited them was another mystery.
Never was it more evident to me how unhealthy our society has become than witnessing that performance. I estimated that at least half the passengers on the airplane appeared sufficiently overweight to be clinically obese. How did this happen?
“Something to drink, sir?” asked the polite flight attendant as she passed my row. She placed the famous Southwest snack mix package

Inflation has hit 9.1% now, its highest level since the post-Jimmy Carter hangover year of 1981, and there's no sign it's letting up.
Thus far, it amounts to a pay cut for workers in the $3,000-plus range: (Snip for tweet)Voters are seeing price hikes like these: (Snip for tweet) There are signs that the government expects it to get even worse: (Snip for tweet) Joe Biden, though, says he's got it handled.
President Joe Biden set out to reassure those worried about the cost-of-living crisis by claiming U.S. inflation is the lowest of "almost every major nation."
It not only is an irrelevant and distracting claim, it's actually flat out false.

Okay -- the First Lady is not a racist and she did not mean to insult anybody. Her problem is that she is a Democrat kneeling at the altar of the wokies, the wing of the party obsessed with your identity, not the content of your character.
As you know, Jill Biden was in San Antonio doing a little "outreach" to the Hispanic community. Here's what she thinks of as outreach:
“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos

How many times have we heard about all the "sacrifices" people make to go into "public service"?
Seems the Biden administration has figured out a way to make "sacrifices" something just the little guy does.
Here's the news on Biden's idea of "sacrifice" for public service:
WASHINGTON — Stanford University law professor Pamela Karlan, best known for her 2019 testimony in favor of impeaching then-President Donald Trump, quietly left the Justice Department this month as a conservative group ratcheted up attacks on an “unethical” arrangement in which she continued to earn nearly $1 million a year from Stanford while working for the government.

If you thought Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were the only gaffe machines in town, check out the impressive challenger to the title, first lady Jill Biden.
According to the New York Post:
A Hispanic journalist group rebuked First Lady Jill Biden after she said Latinos were as unique as “breakfast tacos” during a speech in San Antonio on Monday.
Jill Biden was praising civil rights icon Raul Yzaguirre during the annual conference of UnidosUS when she made the bizarre compliment.
Yzaguirre led the advocacy organization, which used to be known as the National Council of La Raza, for three decades.

It probably shouldn't surprise anyone that denizens of the 4Chan anonymous bulletin board claim to have hacked into Hunter Biden's cellphone cloud account and are busy posting its pervy pictures. According to the Washington Examiner:
The contents of Hunter Biden's iCloud account have allegedly been hacked by users of the 4chan community, who posted screenshots purported to be from his phone and computer on the website's main political forum late Saturday night.
Administrators on the image board moved quickly in the hours after the content was posted to pull down threads that included materials from the alleged leak, leaving many on the site,

As a young lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Douglas MacArthur served as an aide-de-camp to his father, General Arthur MacArthur, and visited Japan, China, Burma, India, Ceylon, Singapore, Java, and other Asian lands. In Reminiscences, his memoirs, MacArthur recalled: "We were nine months in travel, traversing countless miles of lands so rich in color, so fabled in legend, so vital to history that the experience was without doubt the most important factor of preparation in my entire life."
MacArthur claimed to have foreseen his "destiny" in the "lands of the western Pacific and Indian Ocean." He wrote that "the future and, indeed, the very existence

Over on LinkedIn, climate rationalist Bjorn Lomberg posted an interesting chart showing just how important global warming and climate change issues were to the world's public, citing a huge survey of 10 million conducted by the United Nations.
The chart is here: (Snip for chart) The president of the Copenhagen Consensus Center was linking a peer-reviewed article he'd written, published at Science Direct, on the problems of climate change, in that the costs of its proposed solutions vastly outweigh the benefits of various state and corporate measures. That's a highly relevant topic in light of the collapse of the Sri Lankan government yesterday,

Democrats are starting to sound just a little demonic in their fanaticism for abortion, and it's obvious in their cavalier attitude towards the safety of the Supreme Court justices.
Here's the White House setting the tone: (Snip for tweet) That's right, they ran circles around the issue of this illegal harassment of a Supreme Court justice, refusing to draw a line anywhere (we already know they aren't bothered by protestors harassing a sitting senator by following her into the bathroom) on what kinds of protests are inappropriate kinds of protests. We also know that they have failed to condemn the firebombings,

Joe Biden, the man "elected" to the presidency because his supposed foreign policy chops, is out to lunch as two huge events shake America's top allies east and west.
Start with Japan, where a shocking assassination of a former prime minister, Shinzu Abe, has occurred in a nation where this kind of activity is not normal.
According to Reuters:
NARA, Japan, July 8 (Reuters) - Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Japan's longest-serving leader, died on Friday hours after he was shot while campaigning for a parliamentary election,

For a long time, Saudi Arabia was one of the intellectual homes of antisemitic and anti-Israel sentiment. The Wahhabi clerics whom the Saudi royal house supported held a special animus for Jews, and that animus infused education in Saudi Arabia. Now, though, Saudi Arabia is backing away from this hostility to Israel, and its textbooks are reflecting the increasingly friendly relationship between the two nations.
Two things are responsible for the change to that dynamic. The first was that Barack Obama worked hard to set Iran on the road to being a nuclear power, something that terrified Saudi Arabia and pushed it closer to Israel.

Like a pockmarked piece of rotten wood, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has seen his government collapse over a series of petty, stupid, self-inflicted scandals, and now he's going down with it.
According to NBC News:
LONDON — Scandal-ridden British Prime Minister Boris Johnson capitulated to mounting pressure to step down Thursday, announcing his decision after days of high-profile government resignations and calls from fellow Conservative Party members to quit.
“In the past few weeks, I have been trying to convince my colleagues it would be eccentric to change governments
