University of Nebraska Regent Jim Pillen was projected to win Nebraska’s Republican gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, dealing a high-profile loss to former President Trump, who aggressively backed one of his rivals.
The Associated Press called the race at 11:23 p.m. ET.
Pillen came out ahead of eight other candidates running to replace Gov. Pete Ricketts (R).
The race was seen as the latest test for Trump, who had endorsed businessman Charles Herbster in the primary. Herbster is facing sexual misconduct allegations from eight women, including from state Sen. Julie Slama (R) and Elizabeth Todsen, who previously worked for state Sen. Dave Murman (R).

The incendiary rhetoric that is coming from the radical left in response to the recently-leaked draft majority opinion written by Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on how “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled” just keeps getting worse, with the Biden White House now even encouraging left-wing agitators to break the law by continuing to “protest” in front the homes of conservative Supreme Court Justices in a clear effort to scare and intimidate them.
But perhaps none has been worse than what came from Chicago’s Lori Lightfoot late Monday night when America’s worst mayor, a Democrat, took to the Twitter machine to openly issue a “call to arms”

The New Jersey Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that Sundiata Acoli, a former Black Panther convicted in the 1973 slaying of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster, may be released on parole after spending nearly 50 years in prison. Acoli, 85, was an accomplice to Assata Shakur, born JoAnne Chesimard, who was also convicted in Foerster's killing. Shakur later escaped prison and fled to Cuba, where former Cuban Prime Minister Fidel Castro granted her asylum.
New Jersey's high court ruled that the state's parole board unlawfully denied Acoli's petition for release in 2010 when they stated that he would pose a threat to public safety if granted parole.

The 2022 redistricting cycle has been a roller-coaster, with both sides proclaiming victory at different points over the last year. More recently, Democrats had convinced themselves that they were going to come out not just ahead, but significantly ahead, picking up five to six extra seats by redistricting alone.
Unfortunately for them, the game isn’t over until it’s over, and a series of big decisions have completely nuked what advantage they thought they had. I’ve written extensively on those developments here at RedState, including the major GOP victories in Ohio, Alabama, and Florida.
But there has been one final shoe left to drop

A transgender woman who bragged about her light sentence on a kiddie-molestation rap has now been charged with murder in connection with a 2019 robbery, authorities said Tuesday.
Hannah Tubbs, 26, hit the headlines in January when she pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in the bathroom of a Palmdale, Calif., Denny’s in 2014 when she was 17. Many of us were alarmed on Election Night 2020 when, while the results were looking good for Donald Trump, multiple states suddenly stopped counting votes. As the night wore on and went into the next day, it seemed that every update was favorable for Biden until he was ultimately named President-Elect.
While Trump’s campaign repeatedly promised to “release the Kraken” and bring forward evidence of election fraud that would prove that the election was stolen, focusing on electronic voting machines, that evidence didn’t materialize. RedState’s Scott Hounsell pointed out various states and cities – even down to the precincts – that should be investigated, and that information

The Immigration and Nationality Act makes illegal immigrants ineligible for both asylum and withholding of removal -- where illegal immigrants are not returned because they have a fear of persecution if returned to their country of origin -- if they have been convicted of a "particularly serious crime" that constitutes a danger to the community.

For the last two years, many comparisons were made about how irrational and dehumanizing Covid rules were akin to the German atrocities against Jews in the 1930s and 1940s. It never felt quite right to equate modern problems with the truly evil Holocaust, but as time went on we were increasingly left with little else.
Now, to take this story to the next level, it is being reported that Germany’s flagship carrier, Lufthanasa, kicked off all but two of some 192 Jewish passengers in a form of “collective” punishment for refusing to play along with the country’s draconian and anti-scientific measures.

How’s that working, Joe Biden’s plan to drop gas prices?
About as well as the non-existent plan that he ran on to defeat COVID.
The average price of gas in the U.S. just hit its highest mark ever — $4.37 a gallon, according to AAA. [Tweet]
Now, that’s the average. In some places, like California, that average would look like Nirvana if they got to see those prices again. The state average there is approaching $6.00. It’s up $1.41 since last year and 17 cents since last week.
This, despite Joe Biden’s claims that he’s doing something about it by depleting our emergency supply.

Wade decision giving women the right to an abortion. Yet Wilson said she is undecided about who she will vote for this November, and abortion rights are not a priority

Barrington, Rhode Island, public schools are among the best in the state. Many parents move to the district, and tolerate the higher taxes, because of the academic rigor that sets their children up for attending Ivy League schools or receiving academic merit scholarships. However, all of that academic appeal is being chipped away after the district brought in a so-called "equity and inclusion" agenda. De-leveling, or a system of universal learning, was first implemented in Barrington on the most vulnerable students—the students with learning disabilities and Individualized Education Programs (IEP). In February 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19

The Houston Police Department released bodycam video of a deadly officer-involved shooting where a suspect was accused of fatally running over a construction worker and stabbing a Montrose apartment manager. Two officers discharged their duty weapons and struck the suspect more than once. The suspect dropped the knife, but got up and attempted to flee the scene on foot.
Houston police said it all started when a man, identified as 27-year-old Ronnie Dwayne Cesear, Jr. approached a 67-year-old construction worker, Carrl Hayes, who was working in the area overnight.
Cesear stabbed Hayes with a butcher knife, then jumped into the victim’s truck and ran him over, police said.

Remember when denying the legitimacy of any election was not only disqualifying but also got you kicked off Jake Tapper’s low-rated CNN show? I wonder if that rule will hold for Karine Jean-Pierre, who is set to take over as Joe Biden’s press secretary on May 13th. I think we all know the answer to that.
Apparently, Jean-Pierre has a colorful history on social media, and now some of her old tweets are painting a far different picture than the one she’s tried to present since joining the White House. Far from the level-headed, straight shooter that she wants people to believe she is, Jean-Pierre is apparently a conspiratorial lunatic .I’m literally shaking

Joe Biden, the man who has been "wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades," as former defense secretary Bob Gates wrote, has nebulously put the U.S. on a path to war with Russia. Not because he wants to. But because he doesn't know what he's doing.
That's the consensus of foreign policy experts as diverse as Thomas Friedman, golf buddy to President Obama, and Mark Wauck, the decorated former FBI official from its pre-wokedom era.
According to Friedman, writing on May 6:
If you just followed news reports on Ukraine, you might think that the war has settled into a long, grinding and somewhat boring slog

The national average price for regular gasoline reached a new record-high on Tuesday, according to AAA.
The new high — $4.37 a gallon — breaks the previous record of $4.33 set on March 11.
Gas prices jumped 5 cents overnight and a whopping 17 cents in the past week, CNN reported.
California, Nevada and Hawaii have all reached an average of more than $5 per gallon. Diesel fuel also set an all-time record on Tuesday of $5.50 a gallon.
“With the cost of oil accounting for more than half of the pump price, more expensive oil means more expensive gasoline,” AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said. “These prices are creeping closer

The combination of the Constitution’s 15th and 19th amendments gave black men and women the right to vote in any election for whomever they decide, yet there are some who misinterpret our ability to vote as being determinative of what party we should vote for. While it is true that the majority of black Americans vote Democrat, those amendments gave us the right to vote with our individual interests in mind and not be gatekept in the political process.Sunny Hostin, co-host of the daytime show “The View,” had a moment of honest ignorance Friday as she stated, “I don’t understand black Republicans,” and said a black Republican is “an oxymoron.”

Does anyone wonder where all the global warming destruction is? After all, the media are unrelenting in telling us how much climate change caused by man is affecting us. Yet no existential threat has emerged. There’s something off with the story.
The climate alarmists have based their predictions of doom on computer models that have been projecting global temperature increases, the likes of which, they tell us, are unsustainable. We must cut our carbon dioxide emissions, even if (actually, especially if) it hurts developed world economies.
This is the narrative we’re bombarded with on a daily basis. And it’s wrong.

When Lufthansa, Germany’s flag carrier airline, left New York for Frankfurt, most, but by no means all, of its passengers were Jew, with about 80% of them being Hasidic Jews bound for Budapest. Because some of the Hasidic passengers apparently refused to wear their masks, once the plane arrived in Frankfurt, Lufthansa banned all but two Jews (men whose yarmelkes were hidden under baseball camps) from boarding their flight to Hungary. This openly antisemitic conduct was bad under any circumstances, but it was especially ugly coming from a German company. After all, in 1938, a year that was the prelude to the Holocaust

Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade is, to quote a certain sitting U.S. president, a “big f****** deal.” It’s not just that the decision is a huge victory for conservatives that cleanses us of one of America’s gravest moral taints. Justice Alito’s decision matters because of the potential it unlocks.
If Alito’s opinion is issued unchanged, it will represent the full reversal of one of the foundational decisions of the Warren and Burger Courts of the 60s and 70s. It is no exaggeration to say that the Supreme Court of those two decades created the modern left-wing hegemony we are currently groaning under.

Judge Amit Mehta sounded perturbed, to say the least.
The D.C. District Court judge handling numerous January 6 legal matters, including the Justice Department’s high-profile prosecution of the Oath Keepers, flatly dismissed concerns by defense attorneys that the first trial in the case will coincide with public hearings held by the January 6 Select Committee later this year.
“Even if Congress is on the steps of the courthouse reading the [final] report, I am not moving the September trial,” Mehta warned during a status hearing last week for nine Oath Keepers accused of seditious conspiracy among other charges.
Mehta’s outburst was telling. In any other jurisdiction in the country,

So much for COVID, abortions, cancer, heart attacks, violent crime, or fentanyl killing off people like the plague. They all need to move aside. There’s a new threat that has been identified by the ‘experts.’Now, the Biden regime says that online “misinformation” – aka. the exercising of free speech rights – is impacting life expectancy in the United States, according to Biden’s FDA chief Robert Califf. And no, he isn’t talking about all of the “safe and effective” propaganda that has been force-fed to populations around the globe by elitist tyrants

A key source of the material in the largely discredited “Steele dossier” against former President Donald Trump was stunned to find out that gossip he shared wound up in the hands of the FBI, according to a new report.Veteran public relations executive Charles “Chuck” Dolan Jr. appeared shocked by the contents of the infamous dossier when it was published by BuzzFeed shortly before Trump’s inauguration, some of his associates told the Wall Street Journal. Dolan — a longtime ally of both Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton — even sent an email denouncing the dossier just hours after it was posted online

Elon Musk said Twitter has a 'strong left wing bias' in response to a tweet from a reporter who called for violence against pro-lifers.Musk's comments on Monday were in reply to a tweet from Mike Cernovich, who is a conspiracy theorist known for his propagation of the baseless Pizzagate theory that high ranking democrats were running a pedophilic sex-trafficking ring out of a D.C. pizza shop. Cernovich tagged Musk in a tweet accusing the platform of allowing verified accounts to incite violence in the name of liberal causes on Sunday evening.

Wells Fargo has become the latest major financial institution to set new greenhouse gas standards requiring borrowers in the energy sector to reduce emissions. Oil and natural gas companies must reduce their absolute emissions by 26% by 2030, based on 2019 emission levels, Wells Fargo said last week. Other power sector businesses must see a 60% reduction during the same time period.
The new rules from Wells Fargo are part of a trend from financial institutions around the world to implement such climate regulations for its lending programs, joining the likes of Citigroup Inc. and the United Nations-convened Net-Zero Banking Alliance. The alliance is an industry-led coalition
