John Boehner backed out of a deal to join a marijuana lobbying group—but only after he allegedly stole its data and talking points to form another, pro-weed lobbying outfit of his own, an explosive lawsuit claims. The former House speaker signed an agreement in March 2018 to become co-chair of the 10 Campaign—a weed legalization group that takes its name from the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution, which establishes states’ rights, according to the suit filed in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
Less than a year later, in February 2019, however, Boehner announced he was launching a new group called the National Cannabis

A popular gay dating app is catching heat after precise location data for millions of users was collected from a digital advertising network and sold to outside parties. Grindr—which touts itself as the world's largest social networking app for gay, bi, transgender and queer individuals—is one of several platforms prompting concern among national security officials. Data collected from the app, which has millions of users, was used as part of a demonstration by the U.S. government detailing the intelligence risks of commercially available information, The Wall Street Journal reported. Although the information did not disclose names or phone numbers, experts allege some of the data was detailed enough

Kathy Boudin, who spent decades in prison for her part in the deadly 1981 Brink’s armored truck heist as a member of the radical militant group Weather Underground, died of cancer at the age of 78 in New York on Sunday.
In October 1981, Boudin and members of the group teamed up with the Black Liberation Army for the robbery to help fund their anti-government campaigns. They targeted a Brink’s armored truck, which they held up in Rockland County, making off with $1.6 million.
During the robbery, gunmen killed Brink’s security guard Peter Paige before transferring the money to a U-Haul truck a mile away,

Asian-American groups are getting $20 million in the new New York State budget to fight an alarming tide of hate crimes that has shaken local communities. The money in the $220 billion annual budget deal falls short of the amount Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations had sought, but it doubles last year’s funding. “The Asian American community has never been properly accounted for in the state budget,” state Sen. John Liu told the Daily News Sunday. “The need is unprecedented because everybody is painfully aware of the anti-Asian hate that has accompanied COVID,” the Queens Democrat said. Complaints of anti-Asian hate crimes more than tripled

The “Ghost of Kyiv” is a myth, Ukrainian officials admitted over the weekend. After several news outlets last week identified the legendary, mysterious, hero fighter pilot as a 29-year-old dad recently killed in battle with the Russians, military officials acknowledged Saturday that there was no such person. “The ghost of Kyiv is a superhero-legend, whose character was created by Ukrainians!” Ukraine’s Air Force Command wrote on Facebook.(Snip)“Hero of Ukraine Stepan Tarabalka is NOT ‘Ghost of Kyiv’ and he did NOT shoot down 40 planes,” said the country’s Air Force Command. Instead, the moniker belongs collectively to all of Ukraine’s hero fighter pilots, military officials said.

As many as 18,000 migrants could cross the southern border daily once the Trump-era Title 42 health regulation is lifted, increasing the strain on federal officials already stretched thin trying to contain the crisis, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas admitted on Sunday. “Title 42 is a public health authority. So what we started to do in September of last year was prepare for its end. … We’re not projecting 18,000, but what we do in the department is we plan for different scenarios, so we’re ready for anything,” Mayorkas said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” When host Dana Bash pressed Mayorkas on if the Department of Homeland Security would

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday praised President Joe Biden's new disinformation czar as 'qualified and neutral' despite a slew of Republicans criticizing her as partisan.
Asked about that criticism on CNN's State of the Union, Mayorkas called Nina Jankowicz 'eminently qualified, a renowned expert in the field of disinformation.' 'And neutral?' host Dana Bash asked.
Mayorkas answered, 'Absolutely so.'(Snip)Mayorkas answered: 'So what it does, is it works to ensure that the way in which we address threats, the connectivity between threats and acts of violence are addressed without infringing on free speech, protecting civil rights and civil liberties, the right of privacy.'

Ukrainian officials on Saturday accused Russian forces of seizing grain in contested regions of Ukraine as fears of a looming food security crisis linger amid the ongoing war. Together, Russia and Ukraine account for nearly a third of the world’s wheat exports, and western officials fear exports could fall precipitously below pre-invasion levels. “Today, there are confirmed facts that several hundred thousand tons of grain in total were taken out of the Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” Ukraine’s Deputy Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotsky told Ukrainian television on Saturday. With a global economy already battered by pandemic-related supply chain constraints, the war in Ukraine has led to even sharper

Mission, Kan.—A school system in suburban Kansas City is eliminating over 100 jobs, including kindergarten aides and library clerks. Oakland, California, is closing seven schools. Other districts around the country are merging classrooms, selling buildings and leaving teaching positions unfilled in order to close budget gaps.
Public school systems are beginning to feel the pinch from enrollment losses tied to the coronavirus pandemic.(Snip)Families opting for homeschooling, private schools and other options sent enrollment down sharply in the first full school year of the pandemic, and generally it has been slow to recover. In Houston, the largest district in Texas, enrollment tumbled by more than 22,000 to around 183,000

China’s communist government is increasing its systematic theft of U.S. technology and intellectual property and conducting other illicit economic activities, according to the latest annual survey by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Beijing’s labor and environmental policies and anti-competitive subsidies have given the Chinese an advantage in world trade that is “putting companies out of business and violating concepts of fair competition,” the USTR report said. “We are clear-eyed about China’s doubling down on its harmful trade and economic abuses,” the report, made public last week, said.“We must recognize that China, as a large, non-market economy, has uniquely distorted global trade through its economic

One person has been shot dead and five others were injured at the Mudbugs food festival at Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the scene while several others are injured on Saturday night. The five wounded people suffered non-life threatening injuries. The victims were not directly involved in the shooting, according to the sheriff. Several shooters are involved and the investigation is being conducted as an active shooter situation, the sheriff said in a series of tweets. Sheriff Jones said that an officer involved shooting shortly after the festival shooting was related.
Comments:
It's not that parents are rejecting schools that are controlled by Marxists, who as promised use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda, including racism and extreme sexual deviancy, and with softened curricula. Not at all, according to Pravda; falling enrollments at a time when populations are booming because of immigration are merely a byproduct of The Great Pandemic, and Federal Funding should continue to fund them.
