The Supreme Court on Monday looked poised to side with a high school football coach who claims he was unfairly suspended for praying on the field.
The Bremerton School District in 2015 suspended coach Joe Kennedy, claiming his postgame prayers were designed to cause a spectacle. Kennedy pushed back, claiming he was exercising his First Amendment rights. During Monday's arguments, the justices seemed to take Kennedy's side.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh pushed back on the district's characterization of Kennedy as an attention-seeker and said it's hard for a head coach to do anything discreetly during an athletic event. Justice Samuel Alito took issue with the district's rationale for suspending Kennedy.

In this installment of their weekly Sunday Six conversation, PF Whalen and Parker Beauregard of The Blue State Conservative discuss the six most impressive moves by our favorite governor, Ron DeSantis.
PF: #6: Signs bill in November banning vaccine mandates in the state, and holds the signing ceremony in Brandon, Florida.
PF: Full disclosure, I’m a huge fan of Ron DeSantis, and have been since the very early stages of his 2018 gubernatorial campaign against Andrew Gillum. He was bold from the beginning, and extremely impressive. But of everything DeSantis has done as governor, this might be my favorite, simply because of the symbolism.

Former President Donald Trump touted the "explosive" 2020 election fraud lawsuit in Antrim County, Michigan, in a campaign call on Wednesday.
Trump spoke for roughly five minutes during a telephone town hall event for Matthew DePerno, a Republican candidate for Michigan attorney general who is spearheading the litigation, according to the Detroit News.
"The mistake had to be corrected," Trump said. "We caught them. And they said, 'Well, we made a little mistake.' It wasn't a mistake at all. It was being caught."

We can bow to the woke mob and surrender our culture to their insanity, or we can take a stand and push back. One professor at a university in Ohio has provided a blueprint on how to hit them where it hurts: In their bank accounts.
As reported by Fox News, in June 2018 a philosophy professor at Shawnee State University named Nick Meriwether was formally disciplined by the university for his refusal to use a student’s preferred pronouns. A written warning was placed in Meriwether’s permanent file with a promise to apply “further corrective actions” if similar incidents occurred in the future.

President Joe Biden's plan to lift Title 42, the pandemic edict allowing for blanket expulsion of migrants entering the United States at the southern border, lacks support from not only Republicans but also the majority of independents and a significant number of Democrats across the country.
The administration announced April 1 that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention would lift the Trump-era order starting May 23, allowing for the normal processing of refugee asylum requests inside the U.S. The administration has repeatedly stated that the order is a "public health" measure meant to stop the spread of COVID-19,

Producer prices increased a scorching 11.2% for the year ending in March, according to a report Wednesday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the highest on record.
The inflation rate in Wednesday’s producer price index report was up 1.4 percentage points from the previous month and is the highest in the gauge’s 11-year history.
Wednesday’s news signals more inflationary pain to come for households. The producer price index gauges the wholesale prices of goods, which are eventually passed down to consumers.
The news came just a day after a report for the month of March found consumer prices increased by 8.5% —

Late on Friday night, when most of us were either sound asleep or out kicking off the weekend with some partying, Democrats at the Illinois statehouse in Springfield were busy trying to save their jobs by bullying owners of gas stations.
In the wee hours of Saturday morning, lawmakers in the Land of Lincoln put forth and passed a controversial and probably unconstitutional bill requiring gas stations to post stickers on their gasoline pumps. The stickers will laud the efforts of the Democrat-controlled legislature by stating the following;
“As of July 1, 2022, the State of Illinois has suspended the inflation adjustment to the motor fuel tax through December 31, 2022.

As French voters head to the polls this Sunday in the first of what is expected to be a two-round presidential election, polls suggest far-right leader Marine Le Pen is zeroing in on incumbent President Emmanuel Macron.
Le Pen, who has worked to soften her image since the 2017 election and appeal to France's moderate base, has seen a surge in support in recent weeks with one poll showing the two in a dead heat for the presidency in a potential runoff with Le Pen receiving 49% of the vote compared to Macron's 51%, according to a YouGov and Datapraxis poll published Friday.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Georgia’s first-term Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, along with five other House Republicans who are up for reelection this November.
Greene and Jordan have been outspoken Trump supporters, standing by their claims of election fraud in the 2020 elections.
“She doesn’t back down, she doesn’t give up, and she has ALWAYS been with ‘Trump,’” the former president said in a statement through his Save America PAC, calling Greene “a warrior in Congress.”
“She loves our Country and MAGA, its greatest ever political movement,” Trump said. “Marjorie is running for re-election to Congress, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

American politics and the governments produced by it are generally considered to be driven by what happens in the so-called “center.” Conventional wisdom states that it is the highly coveted independent and undecided voters that determine electoral outcomes. Each party has its base, and to gain power they must try expanding that base and pulling voters from the center into their columns. But a poll released last week may put that philosophy on its ear with a seismic shift in opinion from a key demographic.
College-educated white liberals are arguably the most loyal group within the Democratic Party’s base, but others are critical as well,

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has grabbed up a huge stake in Twitter, making him the social media giant's biggest shareholder just days after questioning its commitment to free speech.
Musk's purchase, revealed in a Security and Exchanges Commission filing published on Monday, gives him a 9.2 percent ownership stake, according to the Financial Times. At Twitter's current valuation, Musk's purchase likely cost nearly $3 billion. It comes after a poll Musk posted on Twitter sparked speculation he was considering buying Twitter or launching his own social network.

It is one thing when China brutally suppresses dissent in Beijing. It is more troubling when it does it in Hong Kong. It is even more troubling when it sends agents to Dubai to harass and intimidate Chinese nationals in foreign countries such as the United Arab Emirates. But to harass and spy on a Chinese American U.S. citizen on U.S. soil is an altogether different matter. That is why last week’s announcement of arrests by the Department of Justice of three Chinese nationals for “stalking, harassing, and spying on U.S. residents” on behalf of China’s secret police is so alarming.
