The Republican-led Kentucky General Assembly voted handily Wednesday to override Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto of a bill that opponents say will effectively end abortion access in the commonwealth.
Among the restrictions imposed by House Bill 3, a sweeping anti-abortion omnibus bill from Rep. Nancy Tate, R-Brandenburg, it bans the distribution of abortion pills by mail, raises standards for minors seeking an abortion, and mandates the creation of a new and expansive certification and monitoring system to track details of all abortions administered in the state and the physicians who provide them.

The FBI got walloped last week when a Michigan jury concluded that the bureau had entrapped two men accused of plotting to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Those men and others were arrested a few weeks before the 2020 election in a high-profile, FBI-fabricated case that Joe Biden claimed showed President Trump’s “tolerance of hate, vengeance, and lawlessness to plots such as this one.” But the jury verdict exposes how the feds have created the monsters they parade to vindicate their vast power over Americans.
Michigan was a swing state in the 2020 election. When the arrests were announced, Whitmer speedily denounced Trump for inciting “domestic terrorism.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) on Wednesday single-handedly wiped out the Democrats’ national gerrymandering advantage by proposing a map that eliminates constitutional infirmities.
Subject to the legislature’s approval and likely court challenges, the map will destroy all the hard work Democrats’ redistricting machine has created throughout the last months. The DeSantis-proposed map will yield 20 red districts and 8 blue ones.
Last month Republican establishment House Speaker Chris Sprowls (R) and Senate President Wilton Simpson (R) bucked DeSantis’s original map that would have generated 20 red and 8 blue districts. Instead, the lawmakers passed and submitted a subpar map to DeSantis

Elon Musk announced Thursday morning his effort to buy Twitter and save it for free speech from the clutches of the liberal elite. His announcement is already causing liberal meltdowns all over the place.
But are they already trying to stop him? Fox’s Charlie Gasparino has some troubling news that looks like the Empire may be striking back. “As @elonmusk offers to buy the rest of @Twitter a legal source tells @FoxBusiness @SECGov and @TheJusticeDept have launched what he described as a “joint investigation” into a myriad of Musk regulatory issues primarily involving @Tesla,” Gasparino tweeted.
Oh, what interesting timing this is!

The Russian people know little about Putin’s war on Ukraine because Putin has blocked their access to the truth, substituting propaganda and lies.
Years ago, pundits assumed the internet would open a new era of democracy, giving everyone access to the truth. But dictators like Putin and demagogues like Trump have demonstrated how naive that assumption was.
At least the US responded to Trump’s lies. Trump had 88 million Twitter followers before Twitter took him off its platform – just two days after the attack on the Capitol, which he provoked, in part, with his tweets. (Trump’s social media accounts were also suspended on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch and TikTok

Florida governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy on Thursday.
The new legislation will go into effect on July 1. The Florida House voted 78-39 almost entirely along party lines to pass the law in February, while the Senate passed the bill in March.
The bill allows exemptions for women who face life-threatening or serious injuries from pregnancy, or if the fetus has a fatal defect.
“House Bill 5 protects babies in the womb who have beating hearts, who can move, who can taste, who can see, and who can feel pain,” DeSantis said in a press release. “Life is a sacred gift worthy of our protection

Tesla CEO Elon Musk offered to buy Twitter in a deal worth more than $43 billion and take the social media company private.
Musk’s best and final offer was to pay $54.20 per share for 100% of Twitter, and said that if his offer was not accepted he’d have to reconsider his position as a shareholder, according to an SEC filing. Musk recently disclosed a 9.2% stake in Twitter, but he rejected an offer to join its board of directors and criticized the social media platform in tweets. He wrote in the filing that he'd want to "transform" the social media platform as a private company.

Nothing paints Joe Biden and fellow Democrats so out of touch as their lame rhetoric about inflation being “Putin’s price hike.” The editorial board of the Wall Street Journal brings the receipts on the true origins of the inflationary wave, and not just the origins but the impacts felt in every American household. While the recent global effects have had an impact, rapid inflation began a year ago — and so did the erosion of American income:
White House aides were out in force on Monday warning that Tuesday’s inflation report would be ugly and blaming it on Vladimir Putin. No doubt that beats blaming your own policies.

Just when you think he can’t go lower, he does. Oh, who am I kidding, we all thought Joe Biden could go lower in regards to approval rating, and the latest survey from Quinnipiac has his numbers rivaling a punch to the face.
To be clear, this isn’t just a record low for Biden in this specific poll, but as far as I can tell, it’s a record low overall, regarding any poll. For the moment, this is the deepest in the hole the current president has ever been. It’s also a five-point drop in just a week. When you break down the numbers, things don’t get any better.

Russia has admitted that the flagship of its Black Sea Fleet - the Moskva - was in flames on Thursday, with Ukraine claiming to have hit it with missiles.
Russia's defence ministry said the Moskva missile cruiser had been badly damaged after ammunition on board was blown up by the fire.
In comments reported by Tass news agency, the ministry said: "As a result of a fire on the Moskva missile cruiser, ammunition detonated."
The crew, believed to number around 500, were all saved, they added.
The statement did not say what had caused the initial fire, saying it was under investigation.

The Biden administration is claiming that Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's inspection of trucks entering the U.S. from Mexico is not only "unnecessary," but contributing to inflation throughout the country.
In a statement issued Wednesday morning, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the delays caused by Abbott's policies were having far-reaching impacts. "Governor Abbott’s unnecessary and redundant inspections of trucks transiting ports of entry between Texas and Mexico are causing significant disruptions to the food and automobile supply chains, delaying manufacturing, impacting jobs, and raising prices for families in Texas and across the country.," Psaki said. Last week, Abbott directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to carry out

Millions of New Yorkers began their commutes to work and school on Wednesday morning as law enforcement officers continued searching for the gunman who shot 10 people on a subway train during yesterday’s morning rush hour. The manhunt ramped up for 62-year-old Frank R James, who police have identified as a “person of interest” in the mass shooting, but who Mayor Eric Adams on Wednesday said was a suspect.
Police found a key to a U-Haul van at the scene which authorities said James rented in Philadelphia, as well as a 9mm semiautomatic handgun and extended magazines, a hatchet, fireworks, a liquid believed to be gasoline,
