Illegal immigrants aged 65 and over will be able to obtain taxpayer-financed health care in the record-breaking $220 billion state budget signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul and passed by the legislature—a move critics say will incentivize the undocumented to flood New York for the benefits. A provision in the budget allows up to 20,000 elderly residents living here illegally to apply for Medicaid, the public health insurance program for the needy that served more than 7 million residents during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.
An individual would just need to have income of less than $18,754 to qualify.

California's Democratic-led Legislature wants to mandate a three-day weekend for all workers at large companies in the state. A new bill being discussed in the state assembly would see the official working week reduced from 40 hours to 32 for companies with 500 employees of more. Any work carried out beyond the 32-hour limit would run into overtime and be paid at time-and-a-half, while those working more than 12 hours a day or for more than seven days a week would be paid double their normal wage.(Snip)Employers would also be forbidden from reducing the workers' current salaries simply because they are working less.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland received its first measurable April snowfall in recorded history on Monday as a spring storm brought rare late-season snow elsewhere and large amounts in the Cascades. One inch of snow fell at Portland International Airport, setting a record with the only measurable amount of snow there since official record-keeping for snowfall began there in 1940, the National Weather Service said. Schools across the region were closed and some areas about an hour west of Portland received up to several inches of snow. President Joe Biden on Monday took aim at ghost guns, the privately made firearms without serial numbers, using his regulatory power to get around Washington gridlock on the issue. The president showed off one of the gun kits for sale on the internet, pointing out anyone can purchase one and have a gun assembled in under 30 minutes. Axios has a scoop on the new inflation number that’s scheduled to drop tomorrow and it’s bad.
They’re citing analysts from FactSet that expect the new number to be 8.4 percent, the highest inflation rate since December 1981. That’s up from the rate from last month, which was 7.9 percent.
Some of that will be reflecting the high gas prices that have since moderated somewhat. However, even without counting gas and food, the forecast is 6.6 percent, the highest since August 1982.

President Biden and other Democrats are confronting a stark truth — they’re getting blamed for what’s bad in the economy and getting no credit for what’s good.
The dynamic could spell electoral doom in November.
The Democrats’ failure to get voters to recognize the upside of the economy is not for lack of trying.
On Thursday, fresh data showed new unemployment claims at their lowest level since modern records began in 1968. The president responded with a statement in which he noted that almost 8 million jobs had been created since he took office — “more jobs created on average per month than under any other president in history,” he said.

The left-wing professional and political classes bequeathed a number of new protocols during the Trump derangement years. And it will be interesting to watch whether the Republicans abide by them in November should they take back the House and perhaps the Senate—and the presidency in 2024 as well.
Will they follow the New Testament’s turn-the-other-cheek forbearance, or go for Old Testament style eye-for-an-eye retribution? What Are the New Rules?
Will Republican magnanimity suffice to shame the Democrats to be more professional in the future? Or will t-t-for-tat deterrent reciprocity alone ensure a return to norms? Specifically, will Biden be impeached Trump-style, after losing the House in November?

Yet her accused killer, Jeremiah Ryan, might have escaped jail pending trial under New York’s insane laws, merely because he himself is a teen. This is justice according to Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and his all-too-many allies in the Legislature.
Ryan even had a perfect score to qualify for release, according the city Criminal Justice Agency, because he has no priors.(Snip)Ryan may have no arrests, but he’s been known to the NYPD for years, sources tell The Post, handling guns for gangbangers

This week, the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics (IOP) and The Atlantic magazine hosted a “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy” conference, and we have to hand it to IOP Director David Axlerod for bringing in true experts on the subject. The conference featured some of America’s greatest purveyors of disinformation, such as Barack Obama, Brian Stelter, Anne Applebaum, and a few token conservatives, including Jonah Goldberg and Adam Kinzinger. The media, government, and academia elites speaking at the conference weren’t expecting to be challenged as they self-righteously spewed more lies—but our team at the Chicago Thinker was prepared to hold them accountable. Elon Musk is quite a holy terror to Twitter's self-satisfied barons and satraps. (snip) Guys like Parag, who's "the Big Guy" now at Twitter as CEO now that @Jack has exited the picture, had hoped to effectively smother Musk and all his free speech ideas by locking him into a room with them where he could talk all he liked and they could ignore him. Board members, after all, have to be careful about what they say (and tweet) to the public (snip) Next thing we know, something happened (snip) Elon has decided not to join our board

Russia has warned Finland and Sweden against joining Nato, arguing the move would not bring stability to Europe. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that "the alliance remains a tool geared towards confrontation". It comes as US defence officials said Moscow's invasion of Ukraine has been a "massive strategic blunder" which is likely to bring Nato enlargement. US officials expect the Nordic neighbours to bid for membership of the alliance, potentially as early as June. Washington is believed to support the move which would see the Western alliance grow to 32 members. US State Department officials said last week that

Tesla CEO Elon Musk declined a seat on Twitter’s board of directors after becoming the platform’s largest shareholder with a massive 9.2 percent stake. But this move could end up signifying an even greater play by Musk to seize control of the platform, according to CNBC. Leftist Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted late April 10 that the world’s richest man “decided not to join our board.” Agrawal seemed to admit the quiet part out loud when he said that having Musk “as a fiduciary of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward.”

When Elon Musk moved in on a massive amount of Twitter stock shares last week, the shuddering from the leftists in Silicon Valley could be felt across the nation. What will Elon do? Will he try to push towards the shutdown of our virtuous censorship of right-wingers? Will he (gasp) advocate for the allowance of content we don’t like?
Musk likely has lofty goals on how he might be able to use his leverage and influence to transform Twitter’s culture. But on Saturday, he illustrated that, at the very least, he’ll continue to be a pain in their collective

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) says President Joe Biden could potentially entice 20,000 to 30,000 border crossers and illegal aliens to the United States-Mexico border every day if he follows through on plans to end the Title 42 public health authority. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that Biden will end Title 42 on May 23. The authority, which serves as a border control measure, has allowed federal immigration officials to quickly return nearly two million illegal aliens to their native countries over the last two years. Biden officials have admitted that they expect up to half a million border crossers and illegal aliens to arrive at

If the grand jury in Delaware investigating Hunter Biden’s business ventures does its job properly, it will be pulling on the threads that lead to the president, and already there are signs that is happening.Regardless of the extraordinary statement last week by White House chief of staff Ron Klain, that the president is confident his son has done nothing wrong, and that the inquiry has nothing to do with Joe Biden or anyone else in the White House, publicly available evidence says otherwise. It is not just the e-mails and other material on Hunter’s abandoned laptop which

The Disney corporate dynasty has been a bedrock part of Americana since the 1930s, a family-friendly icon without peer. But its recent stance on parents’ rights to decide what their kids should be taught in school about sexuality endangers that, a new I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
As part of our April I&I/TIPP poll, we asked 1,305 adults across America the following question: “How closely are you following the recent story about the opposition of some Disney employees to the new Florida law forbidding classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade?”

Physicians in America go through many years of training before they are ready to practice independently, often a decade or longer. (snip) Those physicians attempting to use their autonomy to offer what in their opinion is the best care for their patients, have been ridiculed, castigated, and threatened with loss of license or job. Here is one example, “A Texas doctor who defended ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19 and criticized vaccine mandates has been suspended.” (snip) Psaki, speaking on behalf of the Biden administration, invoked physician autonomy for the first time in two years

It‘s now impossible to ignore our president’s cognitive decline. Public opinion polls indicate that most voters doubt his mental capacity to carry out his duties, and his public effusions confirm the accuracy of that assessment. Since his bizarre State of the Union address, Biden’s utterances have become less and less lucid and his few coherent statements are terrifying. He has called for regime change in a country with a huge nuclear arsenal and denounced its president as a war criminal. Yet the corporate media are generally sanguine about Biden’s verbal incontinence. Indeed, they have applauded it. So, what would frighten the Fourth Estate? Elon Musk on Twitter’s board of directors.

It’s clear that Leftists are stung when we rightly point out that they’re groomers. (But honestly, what else would you call someone who insists on initiating children into the adult world of human sexuality and all its colorful permutations?) The talking points went out last week, and progressives want us to know that they’re very upset we are calling them names!
Christina Pushaw, who is press secretary to the mighty Gov. Ron “47” DeSantis and thus at ground zero of the anti-grooming law debate, tweeted out examples of the lockstep leftist media as it tries to fight the label that creepy rainbow-pimping educators have earned:

I really can’t stand it anymore. I used to be able to ignore it, even laugh at how stupid it was, but I just can’t anymore. What leftist Democrats are doing to this country on the issues of race and gender are so disgusting that, honestly, I hate them. I don’t hate them in a “there’s an annoying rock in my shoe” kind of way, I despise them. I hate them in an “I wouldn’t spit on them if they were on fire” kind of way. This is, of course, what they want – they need those of us sane enough to see clearly what they’re doing to hate them,

Tesla CEO Elon Musk declined to join Twitter's board of directors, the social media company's chief executive announced Sunday.
"Elon has decided not to join our board," Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted. "I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here."
Musk, a critic who recently accused Twitter of stifling free speech, recently purchased a 9.2% stake in Twitter, having bought 73.5 million shares for roughly $2.9 billion. "The Board and I had many discussions about Elon joining the board, and with Elon directly," Agrawal wrote in the note to employees. "We were excited to collaborate and clear about the risks.

There’s something incredibly sad about a politician who is otherwise irrelevant, at least to the American public, but just can’t let go.
Hillary Clinton is a 74-year-old grandmother who lost a presidential election, not during the last cycle, but well over five years ago. Yet, instead of just enjoying her grandkids and the hundreds of millions of dollars she’s made grifting off her time in government, she continues to shoehorn her way into the public eye.
On Saturday, Clinton appeared at a political conference in Inglewood, CA. The specifics aren’t really important, as all these things are a dime a dozen,
