One would think that a former president of the United States would be a staunch defender of the First Amendment. When it comes to Barack Obama, however, you’d think wrong. Obama spoke Wednesday at an event sponsored by The Atlantic and the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, “Disinformation and the Erosion of Democracy.” In the course of a long and rambling discussion with The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, Obama called for government control over the Internet in order to stem the “demand for crazy” that was spreading what he called “disinformation.”

Yours was my very first thought as I got into this article, OP. Spencer and others must stop giving the Kenyan the gloss of assumed patriotic feeling for America that other former Presidents have!!! There was and is nothing American about BO.

Obozo loves the First Amendment, but he views the First Amendment as I can say whatever I want, but you don't have the right to respond to what I say.

What about all the Jan6 info that's been distorted? What about all the repressed info re the stolen election? It's pretty clear Obama's ideas are already in place.

It seems the word disinformation is now considered anything said by the opposing view point, or political party, not actual disinformation (aka Propaganda).
I believe it was considered disinformation against anyone saying the Whitmer incident was an FBI plot, or an entrapment case.
It was considered disinformation that there was widespread voter fraud, which eliminates any discussion about non-widespread voter fraud.
It was disinformation that the Hillary campaign was behind the Steele Dossier, yet now both the Clinton campaign and the DNC have paid fines related to the false dossier.

The eyes are the window to your soul. Have you looked at Obama's eyes? They are dark, no sparkle, lifeless and soul-less. I wonder if he only comes out at night....mmmm....where's a cross when you need it.

Of course, this out of the mouth of a very undereducated POS who always considers himself the smartest dog in the room. He never was, but his narcissism stopped it from informing his nonexistent brain! He is a dumb little dictator who should return to his father's house, perhaps he can happily function over there in Africa. Do take your so-called wife along, she can demonstrate her push-ups again!

Disinformation is best addressed with valid information, supported by verifiable facts and sound logical arguments. Censorship of contrary information is never the right thing to do.
I say I can be convinced but I cannot be told. Obama wants to tell people but is unwilling to offer a convincing reason to believe what he says.
Opinions differ but are not a valid basis for censoring valid information.

What's the surprise here? This is the same dirtbag who lamented that the Constitution limited his powers as President rather than giving him free range to do as he wished.

Excellent points #11. With abundant free speech - multiple truths will work their way to the top, valuable observations and valid questions will arise. Crackpot remarks and trash talk sinks of its own weight. Obama, and the Leftists want to pick their Narrative in order to further The Agenda and shut down any discussion outside their purview.

Of course he did. Obama is an authoritarian, like his father and his mother. He wants to be King of the NWO. That means suppression of speech and off to the gulags for those who do not comply.

If you watched the interview, you will see where Kamala Harris gets her non-telepromptered speaking skills. He's as much of an inarticulate gibberish-spewer as she is.

And who gets to decide what is "disinformation"? The party in power?

There's nothing operationally American or little-d Democrat about Obama. He's a straightforward totalitarian who hates America and its Constitution.
