National Review’s Kevin Williamson is urging conservatives to divorce, or at least, separate, for a time, from the Republican Party -- that is, from the Donald Trump-led Republican Party.
In a recent column, Williamson claims that what he calls “sensible conservatives” twenty years ago or so “could take a realistic, instrumental view of the GOP and find it reasonably useful for our ends.” But not today. Not when the Republican Party consists of “vulgar” populists and “infantile” nationalists who loathe free trade, free speech, the U.S. military, and libertarians.

Joe Biden’s pro-migration border chief says the “core founding principle” of the United States is “equity,” and that he is building an immigration system built on “equity.”“It is all about achieving equity, which is really the core founding principle of our country,” Alejandro Mayorkas declared at a meeting hosted by Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.“We, as a Department of Homeland Security [DHS], are your Department of Homeland Security as much as anyone else’s and we need to live that in the equity that we demonstrate,” he told the mostly black audience.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a health warning about an outbreak of meningococcal disease in Florida, which the agency said is mainly affecting gay and bisexual men, including those living with HIV. The CDC urged gay and bisexual men and other men who have sex with men to get the MenACWY vaccine if they live in Florida. It also recommended that those planning to visit Florida talk with their healthcare provider about getting the vaccine. The agency added in the advisory that multiple meningococcal disease cases in college students have been reported in the state over

Last week Cook Political Report posted an analysis of the House midterm election which said “Both sides see the possibility of a Red Tsunami in 2022.” But the rest of the Cook piece argued that because of redistricting changes 2022 can’t possibly equal a tsunami like the one in 1994 when Republicans won 54 seats. There are simply not as many competitive seats in the House as there used to be. So the author ultimately predicted a more modest wave:
Every metric we use to analyze the political environment — the president’s approval rating, the mood of the electorate, the enthusiasm gap — all point to huge gains

On Thursday, NATO held an emergency meeting about Russia’s increasingly horrific and atrocity-filled invasion of Ukraine. However, unlike most NATO meetings, this one was substantive.
For starters, the attendees were not only NATO nations; there were also observers present: the European Union, Sweden, Finland, Georgia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Ukraine. If Putin was afraid of being surrounded before, he should take a quick look at his map now (just a reminder that Japan and Russia still have an unresolved border dispute, see Russia conducts military exercises in disputed islands). As if to validate the stereotype of the Germans being

Take the jab or the boy gets it. That’s essentially the message the Cleveland Clinic is sending to the parents of 9-year-old Tanner Donaldson, who will soon need a kidney transplant. He was born with a rare birth defect, posterior urethral valves (PUV), a condition that caused irreversible kidney damage in utero and resulted in stage 4 chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Dane Donaldson, Tanner’s father, told PJ Media that his son’s kidney function is currently between 15-20%, but his numbers have been ticking up lately, so they feel he is nearing the time when a transplant will be necessary. They’ve known since birth that Tanner would eventually need the transplant

Will we ever have a time in politics where we won’t have Nancy Pelosi to kick around anymore, to paraphrase Richard Nixon? According to a new book from New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns, that time may come sooner than you think, but not necessarily for the reasons you’d assume. Punchbowl offers a big preview of This Will Not Pass, due out on May 3, and of Pelosi’s disgust with her caucus and the White House.

The average price of gasoline hovers around $4.139 per gallon at the moment and some people are putting their frustrations into action by taking to the streets with stickers. Yes, stickers. All across the country, people are placing stickers on gas pumps that depict President Joe Biden pointing, if placed correctly, at the price of gas with “I did that” scrawled beneath. One Lancaster County man was arrested, however, after an employee at a Turkey Hill convenience store saw him placing a Biden sticker on a gas pump there on March 31.

The Alabama Legislature passed a bill Thursday criminalizing sex-change treatments for children, including puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries.
If signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, the bill would treat the castration of children and other sex-change treatments as Class C felonies. Such felonies carry a penalty of up to 10 years in prison for medical practitioners, Politico reported.
The legislation would ban medical treatments done for the purpose of changing a child’s appearance or affirming his or her gender identity, including drugs that halt healthy puberty; cross-sex hormones; surgical sterilizations such as castration, vasectomies, and hysterectomies; cosmetic genital reconstruction surgeries; and removal of healthy body parts.

Very often, when companies go woke, it turns out that the wokeness is a cover for changing market forces. That is, they're not alienating traditional demographics; they're reflecting that their money is coming from new demographics. When it comes to Hollywood and the NBA, for example, the big bucks are coming from China, not America. And when it comes to Disney, the main profit center isn't children; it's young adults who, Peter Pan–like, refuse to grow up.
The brilliant Daniel Greenfield makes this point in an article entitled "Disney's Business Model is Turning Kids into Dysfunctional Adults: Its customer base isn't kids. It's messed up adults."
