In Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Florida, registered Republicans outnumber Democrats for the first time ever — and by a whopping six digits. It’s one thing to look at the polls, which are admittedly impressive. As my friend and colleague Matt Margolis wrote earlier on Thursday, DeSantis is basically unbeatable going into his 2022 reelection effort: Against Rep. Charlie Crist, the state’s former governor, DeSantis wins 49.2% to 32.8%, with 18% undecided. DeSantis is also beating Florida state senator Annette Taddeo 48.6% to 29.6%, with 21.8% undecided. In addition, DeSantis scores an approval rating of 58.8% in the poll. It’s one very easy thing to tell a pollster that, sure, you approve of the governor who avoided

I hope DeSantis has the stamina to resist what the Marxists will throw at him. No doubt tons of Disney Dollars.

Ron DeSantis is definitely Presidential material at least in a MAGA country but looking at the political picture today, if we don't get rid of the commies in this country we're done for and have taken our last breath

Will Smith announced on Friday that he has resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, after he slapped Chris Rock during the Academy Awards on Sunday. “I am heartbroken. I want to put the focus back on those who deserve attention for their achievements and allow the Academy to get back to the incredible work it does to support creativity and artistry in film,” Smith said in a statement. “So, I am resigning from membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and will accept any further consequences the Board deems appropriate.” Academy president David Rubin said he had received Smith’s resignation. “We will continue to move forward

A Staten Island judge on Friday struck down New York City's mask mandate for toddlers, calling it "arbitrary, capricious and unreasonable" and issuing a permanent injunction against it. Mayor Eric Adams said the city would appeal and seek a stay of Judge Ralph Porzio's ruling. Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan said the city was not recommending that young kids ages 2-4 stop masking yet, and he sounded a broader note of caution too. "Cases are definitively rising and it's gotten our attention," he said. "They will continue to rise over the next few weeks, and it's likely that over these weeks, we will move
Yield curve ‘inverts,’ stoking fears

A key part of the US bond yield curve inverted again on Friday, stoking fears that a recession could be looming as the Federal Reserve steps up a plan to hike interest rates. The two-year US Treasury note yield briefly rose above the benchmark 10-year note yield for the first time since September 2019 — an unusual “inversion” that is viewed by many as a reliable signal that a recession is likely to follow in one to two years. The 10-year note was up 9 basis points at 2.41% while the rate on the 2-year US government bond soared 14 basis points higher to 2.42%.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki plans to leave the White House in May to host a show on NBC’s Peacock streaming platform, according to a report. Axios reported the news citing “a source close to the matter.” Biden’s press secretary will be the host of a show for MSNBC on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock. Psaki, who is currently on leave after a second case of coronavirus, will leave the White House “around May” according to the report. Psaki worked as a political pundit on CNN before joining the White House, and will also participate in that capacity at NBC and MSNBC.

Just when you thought the Hunter Biden scandals had died in darkness, The Washington Post published more than 6,300 words on the last day of March admitting that a notable fraction of Hunter’s laptop contents were authentic. Why now? Why not last year? Why did liberal outlets act like everyone expressing concern about Hunter was a Trump-adoring kook? We reported at NewsBusters that the broadcast network morning and evening newscasts went 260 days without mentioning Hunter Biden (and it was more like 11 months of silence at ABC). These were the same networks that frantically obsessed over one brief and failed meeting Donald Trump Jr. hosted in Trump Tower in 2016
In hearing on Sussmann case, Durham's

Michael Sussmann is the Democratic lawyer who is being prosecuted by special counsel John Durham for lying to the FBI. Back in February, Sussmann’s attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the case arguing that even if their client lied about who he was working for when he brought information about Trump and Alfa Bank to the FBI, that lie was an “ancillary matter.” Today, the judge held a pre-trial hearing about the request for dismissal and it sounds as if it didn’t go well for Sussmann. The bulk of Thursday’s hearing was devoted to a motion by Sussmann’s attorneys to throw out the single-count false-statement charge against their client on various grounds.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is in trouble in Ukraine, and it’s because people lie to him. That’s the story put out by US intelligence officials, and it has the ring of truth. Apparently, Putin wasn’t told of the miserable state of readiness of Russian troops, the unavailability of spare parts and repair facilities, the shortage of transport, the inefficiency of the Russian air force, the lack of trucks needed to haul ammunition, food and fuel to the front or the surprising effectiveness of the Ukrainian military. Putin’s “senior advisers are too afraid to tell him the truth” about “how badly the Russian military is performing and how

Chicago - Democrats are eyeing Chicago as a city of interest to host the party’s 2024 convention and the mayor, the governor and a key U.S. senator are coordinating on a plan to make it happen, the firm helping with a potential bid confirmed to NBC News on Wednesday. While the discussions are early and informal, some national Democrats already see the Midwestern city as an appealing contender, in part for its heartland geography — touching key swing states like Wisconsin and Michigan — but also because of the comfort that would come with holding a marquee political event in a tried-and-true blue state,

At the end of October, Republicans held an 11-percentage-point advantage in voter enthusiasm. By January, that margin had ticked up to 14 points. Now, according to the most recent NBC News poll, it has swelled to 17 — a massive advantage that has foreshadowed devastating losses in Congress in prior years. The latest poll would be bad enough for Democrats. But it’s the trend line that is especially grim, seemingly impervious to a series of events — including President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address and the nomination of a judge to the Supreme Court — that Democrats had predicted might improve their candidates’ prospects in the fall. Back in 1967, the Reedy Creek Improvement District agreement was created to lure Disney to Florida. The agreement allows the district governmental powers to facilitate recreational projects and tourism. Florida's legislature felt that it would benefit the state if recreational organizations had the power to act as their own government in areas like property development, water control, public utilities, law enforcement, and fire protection. The mouse eagerly took the cheese, and today most of the land is owned by Walt Disney World. It's been a pretty sweet deal (snip) Now Florida legislators are threatening to pull those special privileges if Disney continues to strike at HB1557

In the final days before what appeared to be a neck-and-neck 1980 election, Republican Ronald Reagan landed a haymaker against President Carter by asking a simple question: "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" Americans were not, and Reagan ended up beating the incumbent Democrat in a drubbing — carrying forty-four states, taking 489 electoral votes (snip) As we near what looks like his return to battle for the 2024 election, though, a potent six-word slogan reminiscent of Reagan's rhetorical thwack is inescapable: Were you better off with Trump?

Two years ago, far-left California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, established a task force with the assigned mission of examining slavery reparations. From the beginning, it was clear that the outcome from the task force wasn’t going to be if it would recommend reparations, that was a foregone conclusion. The only question was to whom such reparations should be given. On Tuesday, that task force finally made their recommendation, and they may also have given a hint that whatever steps were to be taken would only be the beginning. After a lengthy debate and prior to holding the actual vote, the vice-chair of the task force,

Few brands are more valuable than that owned by the shareholders of The Walt Disney Company, one that now is being shattered.. In 2020, Forbes rated it as number seven in the world in value. "This record release will provide a historic amount of supply to serve as bridge until the end of the year when domestic production ramps up," the White House said. President Biden is expected to formally announce the move at a White House event Thursday afternoon.
