A pair of principles that drive the political left – never letting a crisis go to waste, and using prior acts of government-imposed restraints to gradually but methodically steal liberty – is taking the U.S. down a path that, if traveled too far, goes in only one direction. We trust that Western nation voters will reverse the trend before it’s too late. But first they have to recognize how the country is being manipulated.
If government authorities can shut down an economy and rob Americans of their freedom with lockdowns and mask and vaccine mandates over a virus, then they can, and will, do the same for a crisis,

Ignoring the provided reasons, I have this in my mind of what is going on with automobiles.
We are told new cars are unavailable because of "The Chip Problem". We are also told that shortages are caused by "The West Coast Port Problem". Each was reported in a way that did two things. They told of a huge problem that explained the present situation. They also failed to further report or investigate ant solutions. No probing questions on how to fix the issues. This leaves the lofo person with a kernel in their mind but no real information. Enough information floats around in their head to make them think they understand the problem but not enough to wonder what can be done. This makes them complacent to say that any problem with cars/consumer goods are "Because of the chip/because of the ports" and no further action is needed.
So now we have accepted the claims. At the same time, regarding automobiles, the price of fuel is and will continue to rise and electric cars are being both mandated and pushed by manufacturers who are becoming stakeholder driven, not shareholder driven. It will take time to get these electric cars production ramped up. We are going to be continually deprived of new vehicles until the electrics are available and then , those who want new cars will buy electric just to finally get a new car. And then the government has us. Any time it wants to shut down movement, cut electric power supply. This is all a behavior modification exercise. Electric cars are the best example because if we wanted to limit oil and gas use and promote clean transportation Hybrids would be the choice with auto swap when batteries needed charging but they have been largely abandoned to all electric.

They have shown who they are over the last several decades. If they want to limit your behavior or what you can have, or tax it, it is guaranteed to be bad for America and for freedom. It doesn't matter what the justification, it will be bad for all of us and good for them. This is because they choose an outcome, and then invent argument that make it sound reasonable.
Thats not just democrats. Thats every one of those dirty scoundrel politicians.

In the 1920s, ready access to automobiles fundamentally changed life in America. We had real freedom, we could see the country, on our own schedule, on our own terms, and in those early days, with little affordable travel infrastructure, we became campers. We carried tents and cooking gear and could have a week or five, as we could afford and see the country.
The left is offended by this freedom. They are working to remove that freedom from people. They will take away your ability to travel, to visit people and places that you choose, when you choose, carrying with you whatever you choose. This last is key. They can disarm you on public transportation, but not in your private car. Disarming us is important to them, it is a key part of control.

Updated to reality: FTA "We trust that"... Dominion Voting Machines... "will reverse the trend before it’s too late". I'm not optimistic.

Before that they came for our toilets and shower heads, and the useful phosphates in dishwasher and laundry detergents, and gasoline uncontaminated by ethanol, and incandescent light bulbs, and now our freedom to not be injected with weird chemicals, and to have statues of old heroes, and to be able to hold opinions other than those espoused by increasingly radical Marxists.

Electric Vehicles EV are just computers with motors snd seats. Every computer has a MAC address which provides a unique number for that computer. Hence when you go out of state and plug in they know right where you are just like your cell phone location. Difference will be if you have tickets or are wanted for any reason they can deny charging rights at that charging station. You are SOL and stuck there, whereas gas vehicles can pay cash, credit and refuel and skedaddle. They will be able to limit your range of travel and not allow charging more than X miles from your home. Get the picture?
