A new super-mutant HIV strain that makes infected individuals ill twice as fast as current versions of the virus has been detected in the Netherlands. The new mutant—called the VB variant—has infected at least 109 people, according to a study by Oxford University.
The strain damages the immune system and weakens a person's ability to fight everyday infections and disease faster than previous versions of the virus. It means those who catch this strain could develop AIDS more quickly. The VB variant also has a viral load between 3.5 and 5.5 times higher than the current strain, meaning infected people are more likely to transmit the virus

Former Vice President Mike Pence delivered a speech in Florida Friday and pushed back against claims from former President Trump and his supporters that he had the ability to use his power to contest the 2020 presidential election. "There are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress, I possessed unilateral authority to reject electoral college votes," Pence said in the speech to the Federalist Society. "And this week, our former president said I had the right to overturn the election. President Trump is wrong…I had no right to overturn the election."Pence continued,

FBI Director Christopher Wray claimed the FBI is working just as hard to punish participants in the 2020 George Floyd riots as those involved in the Capitol riot, though neither the numbers nor his own boss's words seem to back him up. Wray made the improbable claim in response to questions during an appearance earlier this week at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. “I mean, absolutely," Wray said. "We have one standard, which is, I don’t care whether you’re upset about an election, upset about our criminal justice system, whatever it is you’re upset about, there is a right way and a wrong way to express what you’re upset

Administrators at Georgetown Law are considering implementing a “cry room” on campus, so that offended students have a place to go to if they “need to break down” over comments made by law scholar Ilya Shapiro, who has been placed on administrative leave by the university this week after daring to question Joe Biden’s “affirmative action” Supreme Court nomination process.
The call for a cry room comes after students took offense to constitutional law scholar Ilya Shapiro’s tweets criticizing President Joe Biden’s “affirmative action” Supreme Court nomination process.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who is facing major criticism for being pictured without a mask at last weekend’s NFC title game in SoFi Stadium, claimed Wednesday that he held his breath whenever removing his mask. Garcetti took a photo with Lakers legend Magic Johnson, both unmasked, at Sunday’s game between the Rams and the San Francisco 49ers. California Gov. Gavin Newsom also took an unmasked photo with Magic as well at the game. Both photos went viral and prompted significant controversy. Under L.A. Is the dam finally breaking on maintaining the fantasy that trans women do not have an inherent advantage over biological females in competitive sports?
Sixteen members of the University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team sent a letter to the school and to the Ivy League, asking them not to take legal action that would challenge the new NCAA rules for transgender athletes to compete. The new rules would make it very difficult for their trans teammate, Lia Thomas, to compete as a female.
The 16 swimmers — out of 39 on the team — are asking that Thomas be sidelined.
“We fully support Lia Thomas in her decision to affirm

Conservative lawmakers in Iowa are pushing to have cameras installed in public school classrooms to allow parents to watch via livestreams—as the debate over critical race theory continues to rage. The lawmakers introduced the bill this week that would see cameras put in almost every K-12 classroom, with the exception of physical education and special needs classes. Teachers who fail to keep the camera recording, or obstruct its view, could be fined up to 5 percent of their weekly salary each time they are caught doing it, according to the bill.(Snip)Florida recently introduced a similar bill to have cameras and microphones installed in public school classrooms.

More than 3,900 people are 'interested' in a Facebook event calling for Rotterdam residents to throw rotten eggs Jeff Bezos's newly built-superyacht, for which a historic Dutch bridge will be dismantled. Former Vice President Mike Pence delivered his most direct and public rebuke of former President Donald Trump – saying he had 'no right' to overturn the 2020 election as Trump demanded.
Pence made the statement in a defiant speech to the Federalist Society in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, on Friday.
Comments:
So what exactly does that mean? Everyone fastens their seatbelt and put on their war bonnets? What are they leaking and why are they leaking it? In other words, what are these bozos in Washington DC doing now?
