The Murdering Of Free Speech In America

In Cato’s 15th letter, the writers who compiled the series of essays under a pen name inspired by the Roman senator who stood against the tyranny of Julius Caesar argued that “freedom of speech is the great bulwark of liberty; they prosper and die together.” Today, we are watching that death play out before us. President Joe Biden, whose growing unpopularity is well-deserved, continued to carry on last week what has become a Democratic tradition: He asked the private sector to become partners in censorship with the federal government. “I make a special appeal to social media companies and media outlets,

Democrat leaders have been aiming for this since the 1920s. They were friends and suporters of the Nazis - till it became unpopular. They were friends with Soviet Russia, Cuba, practically ANY 2-bit dictator who rose to power through deceit and violence - only backing away if those people got bad press, or weren't reciprocating, sufficiently (in wealth, ower, or GOOD press). Lets face it - many of the programs and policies of those tyranical regiems were authored as "intellectual dissertations" by Democrat supporters. They've been aiming for this for generations.

The "murdering" has ceased, the America that promoted and protected individual rights and liberties is dead. What we live in today is not America but a geographical area named "The United States" which is the most ironic name imaginable. Memories of what America once was should be kept alive and cherished in the hope that one day in the not-so-distant future they once again may be brought back to life. Today, only a soulless vessel exists.

So basically the situation is that they have the freedom to tell us lies and inaccuracies but we don’t have the freedom to refute them and/or convince others that they’re being fed lies and inaccuracies. And they profess that it is WE who threaten democracy.

The suppression of "misinformation" is a direct attack on the First Amendment. Incorrect facts, even lies, are protected. The theory is that the cure for wrong speech is more speech. It is true that social media is private but shouldn't they follow First Amendment principles as a conveyer of news? What would the Democrats say if they started censoring things like the "threat" of global warming or news of alleged police brutality? Social media like Twitter benefit from laws that shield them from defamation claims and there is ample ability to respond to and dispute things that readers think are incorrect. They should be prohibited from censoring ideas consistent with Fisrt Amendment law if they want, basically, First Amendment protection from being sued. And to they extent they might censor things like pornography and acts of violence, they need to be clear on what is and is not allowed.

Not in defense of Joe Biden but he doesn't come up with these notions like the comment of social media working with the government. Joe Biden delivers the message by reading a teleprompter that someone put these words in. Biden is stupid but how many tyrants are guiding this country and saying these things that Joe reads? We have no government we a fronted by nitwits and scallywags. Tyrants just seeking power who intend to keep it. It will get worse if we do nothing this is no longer America. Wake up, MAGA

FTA: “Again: so much of the censorship from Google and other tech monopolies is done not on their own accord but under pressure and threats from Democratic Party leaders.” When this happens, I wonder if it shouldn't be viewed, particularly by the Courts, as acting as a government agent. Besides, when they say misinformation, what are they saying? Is anything not presented by the government considered misinformation?

Authoritarians have an outstanding characteristic; their ideas are BAD. Bad as in unworkable and foolish. Rational people listen to their ideas, know they are a dead end, and speak against them. The only way the authoritarians can have their way is suppress speech and freedom. They cannot win a rational argument so they have to suppress reason. To mangle a quote, "Authoritarianism is the last refuge of the incompetent". No wonder it is so appealing to the senile Biden and the Leftists who are incapable of forming a sustainable government using their "ideas".

According to the latest numbers from the CDC, more Americans have died with COVID since President Joe Biden took office than did in the year before under Donald Trump. CDC data show that, as of January 17, there have been a total of 850,575 deaths in the U.S. related to COVID. On Trump’s last day in office, that number was 424,409. That means 426,166 COVID deaths have occurred — so far — since Biden took office, with the number currently trending well above a thousand a day. This is a stunning rebuke not just of Biden, but of everyone who

Both sides of the political debate agree that there’s a schism of sorts in America, a cultural battle that transcends ordinary politicking and goes to the heart of how we see ourselves and our fellow Americans. And one of the elements of that cultural battle, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll suggests, is religion. The monthly I&I/TIPP sounding of public opinion asked: “Do you agree or disagree with the statement “religion is under attack in the U.S.?” Among those responding, 52% said they agree, while 40% said they disagree. About 9% said they weren’t sure (numbers don’t add to 100% due to rounding).

These days, when President Joe Biden isn’t lying about being arrested during the Civil Rights struggles of the 1960s, he’s telling equally large fibs about “making progress” on inflation and the economy. Truth is, in the space of less than a year, he’s turned a recovering economy into dross. Thursday brought yet more disastrous news about the “transitory” upsurge in inflation the media shills and Biden administration economic advisers talk about. After Wednesday’s consumer price data showed a 7% rise in consumer prices for 2021, the highest since 1982, came worse news for producer prices:

In 1989, Boris Yeltsin visited a Randalls supermarket in Texas. He was astonished at what he saw: shelves, coolers, and freezers bursting with groceries. Were the late Russian president to visit today, he would find many of America’s stores having a lot in common with those of the centrally planned Soviet Union, where the inventory was chronically low, the customers morose. According to reports of the day, Yeltsin, then still a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, “roamed the aisles of Randalls nodding his head in amazement,” declaring that “even the Politburo doesn’t have this choice. Not even Mr. Gorbachev.”

Just before the holiday, White House spokesperson Jen Psaki took to the press room podium to laughably brag about how “we’ve saved Christmas” because President Joe Biden supposedly fixed the nation’s supply chain crisis. She said that “President Biden recognized this challenge early, acted as an honest broker to bring key stakeholders together, and focused on addressing practical problems across the global supply chain.” That was good enough for the mainstream media, which had turned a blind eye to the supply chain problems once Biden claimed he had a plan to fix it. Except, less than three weeks later, #BareShelvesBiden

Not everyone in Blue State America is moving to a far healthier Red State. It only seems that way. But enough are doing so to say, without a doubt, it is one of the most significant trends in America today. A revolution of sorts. It’s long been known in demography and population economics that people leave areas known for authoritarian tyranny, stagnation, stultification, crime and excessive regulation in order to find the opposite somewhere else: economic freedom, dynamism, social diversity and good government. It’s a big reason why literally hundreds of millions of people around the world have expressed their

Senate Democrats recently threatened to eliminate the filibuster if their “Build Back Better” and “For The People” bills weren’t passed. Such a strategy, however, holds serious political dangers for elected Democrats: A bipartisan majority of both Republicans and Democrats support keeping the filibuster, a new I&I/TIPP Poll shows. Responding to recent events, the monthly I&I/TIPP Poll, posted also at TIPPInsights, asked the following question: As you may be aware, the filibuster is a Senate procedure that has been used to prevent the Senate from passing controversial legislation, even if a simple majority of 51 senators support it.

Climate alarmists have said it’s necessary to ratchet up the fear about global warming to get the public’s attention. It’s the same story with the coronavirus outbreak. Authorities wanted to strike fear in the people, so they exaggerated the lethality of a virus deadly to only a narrow demographic segment. Compare and contrast: Global warming, 1988. “We have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have,” about global warming, said Stanford climatologist Stephen Schneider.

Over the weekend, Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene got the Donald Trump treatment from Twitter: The social media platform permanently banned her personal account. If this were simply a private group deciding who can and can’t participate in its forums, then there’s no problem. That would be Twitter’s right. But we know Democrats are using private companies to censor speech they don’t like, and any discussion that threatens their plans to accumulate ever more political power.
