As millions prepare for their fuel bills to double this year, MPs will be protected from the soaring costs. That is because those who represent seats outside London can claim back the cost of their electricity and gas on expenses. No fewer than 316 MPs put in utilities claims in 2020-2021, with dozens claiming more than the average household’s dual fuel tariff of £1,138. Analysis of data published by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) shows that claims for utilities totalled £262,454 in 2019-20, of which £206,717 was for gas, electricity and other types of fuel.

Someone is in a pickle. The mascot for the Portland Pickles, a summer baseball team in the West Coast League, had its Twitter privileges revoked for sharing a questionable photo during a social media takeover. On Wednesday, Dillon, the team’s dill pickle mascot, tweeted, “new phone who dis” with a suggestive photo that showed the mascot sitting down, appearing to expose his green genitalia. The team addressed the photo when some Twitter users found the post to be tasteless. “We have ended our mascot takeover. It’s come to our attention that this photo can be misinterpreted as a disturbing image,” the Portland Pickles tweeted.

A county judge in Texas dealt a blow to Governor Greg Abbott's controversial 'Operation Lone Star' after ruling his national guard's apprehension of an illegal immigrant unconstitutional Thursday. Operation Lone Star was created by Abbott amidst a wave of illegal immigrants from Central America crossing the US-Mexico border. It deploys law enforcement in areas human and drug smugglers are known to use. The ruling could see the initiative stifled with attorneys saying that it could open a path for other immigrants to challenge their detention.(Snip)On Thursday, Judge Jan Soifer ruled in favor of Jesus Alberto Guzman Curipoma, an Ecuadorian engineer arrested in September and charged with criminal trespassing.

The health departments of New York state, Minnesota and Utah face potential lawsuits alleging they discriminate against White people by giving priority to select minorities for scarce COVID-19 treatments, part of a growing backlash nationwide against the race-based policy. America First Legal, a conservative law group founded by former Trump adviser Stephen Miller, is demanding the states rescind their policies or face legal action for “blatant discrimination.” “What we are seeing popping up across the country is antithetical to everything we stand for as Americans,” said Gene Hamilton, the group’s general counsel. “And while the allocation of medical treatment based on skin color is not something any American

The Food and Drug Administration said it will stop regulating French dressing after keeping a tight rein on its key ingredients since 1950. Carjackings raced out of control in the Big Apple last year, surging 55 percent over 2020, according to new NYPD data Thursday—a day after two car thieves struck in Manhattan less than an hour apart.
“New York has become carjack city,” one NYPD official told The Post. “Between the guns and the low-risk of stealing cars, we’ve seen this explosion in carjackings.” From 2018 to last year, carjackings in the five boroughs shot up 355 percent—led by a staggering 4,400-percent jump in the NYPD’s Manhattan North borough command and increases of more than 400 percent in the Bronx and Brooklyn North commands, the statistics show.

Any visitor to the Rotten Apple should celebrate being carblacked; it's a very small price to pay for the many benefits of Black Excellence. The city even paints BLACK LIVES MATTER on the streets as a reminder of who calls the shots.
