Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) on Thursday called for the lessons of the Jan. 6, 2021, to be heeded as Washington observes the anniversary of the unprecedented Capitol attack, warning that "democracy is fragile."
"We ignore the lessons of January 6 at our own peril. Democracy is fragile; it cannot survive without leaders of integrity and character who care more about the strength of our Republic than about winning the next election," Romney said in a statement.
"I said last year that the best way we can show respect for voters who are upset is by telling them the truth," he added.

ZEBULON, N.C. — Over the past couple years, there has been an increase in armadillo sightings across the Carolinas, and officials with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission says it's due to climate change. Armadillos have been spotted in 23 counties across North Carolina, including Wake and Durham. Since 2007, there have been as many as 30 sightings of armadillos in Wake County. Greg Batts, an N.C. Wildlife biologist in Zebulon, said he documented two armadillos on the N.C. Highway 55 widening project in August in 2020. One had been run over by a car and another had a den near

Commercials take up 27% of commercial television screen time and are the main source of income for TV and radio stations. (snip) In the United States today, the White population (not including Hispanics) is 57.8%. In real life Caucasians are still in the majority, but now on TV and the Internet they are swept under the rug like trash. Blacks compose 14% of the U.S. population but appear in 50% of commercials. (snip) if a White person appears in a commercial, he/she is usually old, sick, a freak, or at the very least, an appendage to a Black partner. (snip) Caucasian young men appear in only 4% of the commercials!

According to a report, Democrats are so desperate to eliminate the Senate filibuster — which would enable the Democrats, who control the Senate, to pass legislation regarding voting that would be highly favorable to them— that two former presidents and celebrity Oprah Winfrey have contacted Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), who is considered the pivotal vote in the Senate, to pressure him into accepting the filibuster’s demise.Former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton have joined Winfrey in the cooperative effort to persuade Manchin, according to Politico.“Manchin has told colleagues that his phone line has been lighting up with prominent names outside the Senate in recent days.

Transgender University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas was crushed in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing fifth, after being beaten by another transgender swimmer who is transitioning from female to male. Earlier, Thomas won the first of four races by just two seconds—one month after she shattered two women's records with a 38-second margin against her closest competitor. She also narrowly won the 500m freestyle by just a second, with bystanders telling DailyMail.com she was 'coasting' and seemed to be 'barely trying'.(Snip)Henig, who is transitioning from female to male, also finished first in the earlier 50-yard freestyle, smashing records. In a letter to the president, the speaker wrote, "Indeed, this past year has been historic: with the life-saving American Rescue Plan, once-in-a-century Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and, soon, the truly transformational Build Back Better Act! In that spirit, I am writing to invite you to address a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, March 1, to share your vision of the State of the Union."

Most people look at the choice of Kamala Harris for Vice President and scratch their head. “Why would anyone pick a person so wildly devoid of political talent or even the basics of likability?” they wonder. The conventional wisdom is that she checked the right number of boxes to fulfill left-wing interest group demands, which is partially true, of course. Overlooked, however, is how there is one more, rather good and important reason Joe Biden, or really any politician, would pick someone like Harris: because by comparison, you’ll always look better. Harris is such a singularly grating personality that she polls lower than lemon juice on an open wound.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky said Friday there is a good chance that the U.S. will follow the "ice-pick"-shaped curve of South Africa's omicron surge of the COVID variant, but cautioned that it could roll through different parts of the country at various times, as previous waves have. "I do think in places that we are seeing this really steep incline, that we may well see also a precipitous decline, but we're also a much bigger country than South Africa," Walensky said in a briefing with reporters.

As midterm elections draw closer, new speculation continues to mount regarding whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is set to retire from Congress.
One new report indicates that many of her Democratic colleagues are already preparing for life in D.C. without their longtime caucus leader.
“Even if it looks a little bit messy”
Sources said that they expect Pelosi to step down at the end of the current session, which would align with her prior statements on the matter.

Politico Playbook ran an unwise story about the “wise Latina” Justice Sotomayor purportedly dining with Democratic heavyweights after one of the most ridiculous, fact-free performances by any Supreme Court Justice in U.S. history.
The photo that purportedly showed Sotomayor dining with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer is shown below.
“SPOTTED: Speaker NANCY PELOSI, Senate Majority Leader CHUCK SCHUMER and wife, IRIS WEINSHALL, Sens. AMY KLOBUCHAR (D-Minn.) and DICK DURBIN (D-Ill.) dining together at Le Diplomate on Friday night,” Politico Playbook said. Then, it noted that it was initially miscaptioned.
“CORRECTION: The original version of this item misidentified Iris Weinshall, the wife of Chuck Schumer, as Sonia Sotomayor.

Hospitalizations of U.S. children under 5 with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine.
The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.

Gov. Jay Inslee proposed new legislation on Thursday, which would make it a misdemeanor for elected leaders or candidates to spread unfounded allegations of voter fraud. Speaking on the one-year anniversary of the now-infamous U.S. Capitol riot, Inslee opined that “the threat to our democracy is just as dangerous on January 6, 2022, as it was a year ago.” [Snip] That has Inslee pushing for a bill in the state Legislature that would “make it a gross misdemeanor to lie about these election results without any basis.”
Comments:
High fuel prices are not an intentional Biden junta policy to destroy the nation while bleeding the people dry, and forcing us into battery-powered cars, but rather reflect lingering uncertainty about The Omicron Variant. Thanks for that wisdom Pravda, I mean, Associated Press.
