Hospitalizations of U.S. children under 5 with COVID-19 soared in recent weeks to their highest level since the pandemic began, according to government data released Friday on the only age group not yet eligible for the vaccine.
The worrisome trend in children too young to be vaccinated underscores the need for older kids and adults to get their shots to help protect those around them, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Since mid-December, with the highly contagious omicron variant spreading furiously around the country, the hospitalization rate in these youngest kids has surged to more than 4 in 100,000 children, up from 2.5 per 100,000.

Pravda would be proud of the strides the Ass. Press has made towards becoming 110% propaganda all the time.

Somewhere around the 11th paragraph article explains from/with, also considered in these #'s positive test up to 14 days prior. So called health officials in this country are nothing more than propagandists.

Fake news. Even the Great Fauxi said most of the children were not hospitalized because of WuFlu but instead found out they had it only after seeking medical attention for some other issue: “It is noteworthy, however, that many children are hospitalized with [COVID-19] as opposed to because of [COVID-19],” Anthony Fauci said during a press briefing last week.

“Most of the COVID+ kids in the hospital are actually not here for COVID-19 disease,” McGuire said in an email. “They are here for other issues but happen to have tested positive.”
They r giving cover to the wise latina.
The article in deep contradicts here claim that omicron is as severe as delta in the unvaccinated. The wise latina is not so wise; a hack in black.

Here's the 13th paragraph: “Most of the COVID+ kids in the hospital are actually not here for COVID-19 disease,” McGuire said in an email. “They are here for other issues but happen to have tested positive.” With this science, if hospitals asked new patients if they'd eaten potatoes within the previous 24 hours, the CDC would ban them.

Think about that. Surging to 4 in 100,000 kids. If that is a surge we dealing with complete insanity. And over 50% of those tests are false and people who test positive have no symptoms at all. We still do not have an accurate test for this virus....Got it..

From 25 per million to 40 per million. 0.000040 = 0.004%.
99.996% do not have it. Skyrocketed from ALMOST NONE to ALMOST NONE, never mind “with” vs. “because of”. Sheesh.

LIES. AssPress is a propaganda operation not a news organization. These reports have repeatedly been shown to be children hospitalized for SOMETHING ELSE, not the ChiCom virus.

The children probably want some company, and think a nice nurse will provide it. They are tired of being locked in their room, having food passed under the door on a paper plate, by covid obsessed-petrified democrat parents.

Think about it: 4 in 100,000 etc. THINK ABOUT IT! And think about the "soaring" headline. I have long contended that if the Press actually was not biased and did its job reporting, Biden would not be President, OAC would not be gallivanting, Sotomyer would be recognized as the "wise Latinix" she is, Swalwell would CERTAINLY, along with Schiff, still not be on the Intel committee, etc. Just basic down the line straight reporting: not opinions, not burying the lead, or not reporting on an issue at all. Most of my avid Democratic friends are clueless as they rely on the Nets and MSNBC et al. I have the same amount of contempt for 95% of straight news organizations and reporters as I am beginning to have for 90% of the teachers in the Union.

The best place to catch Covid is the hospital. Article tends to point this out by saying kids hospitalized with Covid rather than kids hospitalized from Covid.

So show us the statistics for how many kids that age per year have been hospitalized for the flu, and how many have died of the flu each year, over the last 20 years prior to Covid. I'm guessing it's substantially higher, so we will never see those numbers!!!
Fear is the greatest tool of despots and dictators in controlling the masses of peasants!!!!

Both of my grandchildren have had covid. The older one had the Delta variant in August when he was 17 months old. He ran a fever for a few hours and that was it. The younger one has just recovered from the Omicron (Xi) variant and is 5 months old. She had sniffles and diarrhea for 3 days. That’s it. The only treatment they got was Tylenol and Pedialyte.

Having to press back against the lie-repeated-until-it-becomes-true, "with the highly contagious omicron variant"... you mean "with the highly contagious, mild symptomed omicron variant". The second part was never in question, but the easy-to-transmit part kept getting hyped, while the mild effects part somehow got dropped from all the media reports. Just not scary enough if we are reminded of the milder effects...

Garbage headline of the week, the takeaway being that COVID is raging out of control in preschool children. Point #1: "Skyrocket". Cases up from 2.5 to 4 per 100,000 is not exactly my definition of skyrocket during the current omicron surge. More importantly, Point #2, buried in the article: “Most of the COVID+ kids in the hospital are actually not here for COVID-19 disease, they are here for other issues but happen to have tested positive.”
