Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would consider changes to the way Congress certifies presidential elections, telling reporters in the Capitol Wednesday the system might need reform. “It’s worth discussing,” the Kentucky Republican said. Lawmakers in both parties are eyeing legislation that would change the ease with which lawmakers can object to presidential election results following last year’s riot at the U.S Capitol on Jan. 6, the day both the House and Senate met to certify President Joe Biden’s victory under the Electoral Count Act.

These "changes" the turtle is talking about. Do they have anything to do with the Electoral College and the popular vote? Just asking.

What is needed is a way to see that elections are honest.

This is why the Republican party should be scrapped. It works with the Democrat party to solidify total control for the swamp. Mitch does not work for us, he works for the uniparty. We must end the lie that is the Republican Party and for a MAGA party. NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE AS LONG AS THE STATUS QUO IS ALLOWED TO PERPETUATE ITSELF. We are not free and we will never be free as long as the current situation continues.

I presume he wants to change the rubber stamp process into the automatic rubber stamp process. Time to repeal the 17th amendment to the constitution.

Easy. Have one day for voting. All voters much have a photo ID proving they are who they say they are and proof of residency. No mail in ballots. Absentee ballots much be collected and counted on the same day as election day. Each electronic vote must be verified by the voter with a hard copy of that person's vote presented to said voter.

Willing to listen to any 'words' old Mitch might contribute
but only AFTER he re-reads our Constitution and has given us
States' Names of those who might agree with him. The ornery old coot
knows the rules and at one time an accomplished strategist, deserving of an ear (and,, if to be so bold, dare it be said, a chin.)

mcconnell is a guy anyone with any sense of decency would keep at an arms distance. wouldn't trust him under any circumstances, especially when it involves our duly elected President, Donald J. Trump but the shameful thing about this situation is, we cannot rely on the repub senators to stay together on many issues either when it involves our duly elected President, Donald J. Trump

"The President of the Senate shall, in the Presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the Certificates, and the Votes shall then be counted. The Person having the greatest Number of Votes shall be the President..."
There is no mention of challenges in the constitution. Each state has its own "presidential election" and electors are appointed in accordance with state law, not federal. There is no constitutional requirement for "winner take all" from each state.
The VP has no role, except as the President of the Senate. And then to receive and open, in the presence of a joint session, the certificates and add the totals to determine a winner.
This is what the '20 election challengers failed to recognize. The STATES are the key, and the STATES operate in their own ways. Challenges should have been made first at state level, not in the courts, but with the legislatures. But lawyers have to litigate, and the courts plainly told them they were taking the wrong course - particularly a Federal judge in Wisconsin, a Trump appointee.
All that essentially happens outside in Washington is the largely ceremonial counting of electoral votes. This other challenge nonsense is too little too late.

Can somebody please explain how the same set of voters can elect both Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell to represent them in the Senate? Talk about opposites. This is schizophrenic politics at its most egregious.
