The U.S. Constitution is the sacred text of American government and civic life. But it’s time to face facts: The document, written in 1787, isn’t working. The signs are all around us. Just 38 percent of Americans in a recent Gallup poll expressed either a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the presidency, down from 48 percent in 2001. Congress, never high in the public’s estimation to begin with, fell from 26 percent to a mere 12 percent. The Supreme Court has also taken a hit, down from 50 percent to 36 percent during the same period.

No, idiot, the Constitution is fine, it is the liberals who refuse to follow it that is the problem.

It's NOT the Constitution that has failed, its the LEADERS who FAIL to follow the Constitution!
I'm tired of Rino's, Leftists who portray Conservatives as evil, they are having a hissy fit because their way of governing isn't working and is being rejected.

YES, the Democrats want a coup. That is what they have been trying to do. Although they have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution, they are trying to subvert it. The MSM is no better. They have been trying to create the dystopian tyranny of “1984” with all of their mandates.

When it doesn't work it's because of moron leftists who just don't like all those rules... You're only firing another shot at the greatest piece of parchment mankind has ever known... while most Republican politicians sit idly by and watch.

This is from the "Hill". About the same as the Atlantic or Nation or some other leftist rag. Adams said (paraphrased), the Constitution will only work for a moral or just people. If the people had any morals, or were "just" in their thinking, the Constitution will work as it has in the past and will in the future. If the people are perverted it won't. For me, I'll take the Constitution any day as our foundation of government over any other form. The Constitution has not failed, we have failed it. Fix'd if for ya, John boy.

And so begins the Democrat propaganda campaign to discredit our Constitutional framework. No mention that we haven't lived under the Constitution since the Democrats started rewriting it by judicial fiat under Roosevelt.

Eye opening account of the ''new sort'' of elected legislator; one who seeks fame and fortune instead of a better form of government. I always thought that about any random Democrat you could name only now the infestation is in both sides of the aisle. Not only are politics ''strange bedfellows'' but politics is a dirty, filthy business. Why would you seek public office when it is much easier to rob banks?

Another moron addicted to Public Opinion Polls. The Constitution worked just fine for 235 years, then Democrats began their slide toward Treason. Leftists are the problem, not our Founding Documents.

We have a uniparty of corruption. There is no opposition to all the corruption. Without a opposition, there is no one to enforce, or oppose the evil and corruption. The constitution cannot stand with no one to support it.

Our laws were based on a country with God fearing people having a moral compass to do the right thing for all. Now we are under control of people who have no moral compass and are doing their own thing just for themselves. Until we get a majority government thoroughly vetted to follow the laws as written, we will continue to see abuses of the constitution. Is it worth fighting for and how far will we go to ensure it’s survival? America needs to make a choice.

So what is this lefty guy’s prescription to legitimately revise the US Constitution? Obviously to put the leftist and socialist Democrats in permanent control of the US Government so that they can rewrite the US Constitution to their satisfaction.

Yeah, and if I was one of those wannabee authoritarian legislators and power mad bureaucrats, I'd think that too. Can't have the peons thinking that this freedom stuff means we can't tell them what they will do fir us ... Oops the state.

People see the government now as simply another business whose main purpose is to provide high paying jobs to governor employees which they can pass along to friends and family- this includes senior military people.Living in the Capital region I am surrounded by these people- who are almost all Democrats. Serving the interests of the American people is the farthest thing from their minds. This cannot go on forever.

Next they will be trotting out the 'Convention of the States' and from that, whose members are APPOINTED by each state, will come the decimation of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights...all in the name of 'equity'....

Not hard to tell where this guy is coming from. The Constitution's standards are too high for democrats. The Founders even said it'll only work if the people and educated and moral. This leaves out the democrat party.

He is right. The Constitution doesn't work. It failed to work in 1861 and has continued to this day. Largely because goobernment ignores the constitution. Lincoln had no constitutional authority to start a war. The states were not rebelling. They simple left the US. The South never threatened the goobernment or even protested the goobernment. It simple left and Lincoln started an unconstitutional war. FDR used the courts and super majority to create the welfare state, (Socialist Security) buearcratic control of private property (fascism) and denial of human rights and due process (Americans of Japanese decent placed in concentration camps). The whole time the checks and balances were flushed down the toilet. Then came the Supreme Joke that decided it and it alone could legislate from the bench and create laws and rights not mentioned in the constitution. Congess found it it was more profitable to make money while in Congress than actually work. We need a Convention of States to reign in the all three branches of goobernment. Only we the people can prevent goobernment from Shiffing on the constitution.

I was playing poker the other day and, well, the rules of the game were just not working for me. We need to throw out this business about straights and flushes and full houses because that unfairly rewards certain players' hands.
In my opinion, a 3 of hearts, 8 of clubs, 9 of diamonds, Jack of hearts and 7 of spades should be the highest hand.

This liberal professor has this wrong, as many posters have shown. I would add that the electoral college is not a popularity contest, therefore it is not to follow the popular vote but who the states elect. Although there is some question about 2020

What's not working is the "free press" giving the Left a pass for flouting the Constitution -- and not even trying to hide it since Barry's reign.
