Bette Midler is the latest left-wing figure to equate last year’s January 6 Capitol riot to the September 11 terrorist attacks, which killed nearly 3,000 people — claiming both events left her in similar states of shock. The Hollywood star, who recently had to apologize for smearing West Virginians as “poor, illiterate, and strung out,” commemorated the January 6 riot in a series of social media posts Wednesday. She called it “one of the most traumatic days in American history” and blamed former President Donald Trump and Fox News.

Arthur Caplan, who is the director of Medical Ethics at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, told CNN on Wednesday more things need to be done to punish Americans who are not vaccinated for COVID-19.A clearly perturbed anchor John Berman asked Caplan, "Why should anyone who is boosted bother at this point to do anything that makes the unvaccinated more safe?""Well, look, I want us to act as a community. I want us to act as a team. When you’re fighting a war, you need all hands on deck. I don’t want to reject those who still haven’t done the right thing. I’ll condemn them. I’ll shame them.

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has become persona non grata to progressives. Which is, truthfully, a remarkably easy feat. He started irritating them around a year ago when he criticized politicians who didn’t obey their own COVID-19 mandates. More recently he deplored the “woke mob” and “cancel culture.”
The woke mob became truly apoplectic when Rodgers wasn’t clear about his vaccination status and then spoke with popular podcaster Joe Rogan, subsequently saying he had availed himself of the same COVID-19 treatment Rogan claimed to have used successfully. You know, the so-called “horse de-wormer.” Which is not a Dr. Fauci-approved “vaccine.”

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland on Wednesday defended the Justice Department’s efforts to prosecute those responsible for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. In a prepared speech on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the attack, Mr. Garland said “there is no higher priority” for the department. “The Justice Department remains committed to holding all Jan. 6 perpetrators, at any level, accountable under law—whether they were present that day or were otherwise criminally responsible for the assault on our democracy,” he said. “We will follow the facts wherever they lead.”
The attorney general’s comments come amid criticism that he and his investigators are focusing

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday that President Biden thinks he needs more downtime—despite the fact that he’s spent more than a quarter of his days in office at one of his Delaware homes. “I know the president doesn’t have public events today,” Psaki told reporters during her regular briefing. “He does have a number of meetings with policy teams and that’s often what he’s doing behind the scenes.” “If he were standing here today—which I know he’s always invited, is what you guys will say, but he would say we never give him any free time or any time to think,” the press secretary added.

A top White House official on Wednesday said supply chain disruptions could continue into 2022 because the omicron variant could impact the supply networks both overseas and in the U.S.
“It’s hard to tell that the supply chain pressures have peaked,” White House Port Envoy Jon Porcari told reporters. “I think what is clear is that the pandemic laid bare what was the underlying reality, which was that the supply chain was stressed even before the pandemic.” Mr. Porcari‘s statement contradicts President Biden’s declaration that last month that supply chain failures and widespread consumer goods shortages forecast for the 2021 holiday buying season had not materialized.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, D., took heat Wednesday after blaming thousands of drivers for being on the road only to be left stranded on Interstate 95 due to heavy snowfall that crippled snow removal crews.
"We gave warnings, and people need to pay attention to these warnings, and the less people that are on the highways when these storms hit, the better," Northam told The Washington Post.A sitting senator, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., was among the stranded drivers Tuesday. He documented his nightmarish commute on Twitter, finally reaching the Capitol after 27 hours.

Old: If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
New: If you can’t do the time, Alvin Bragg will be there for you.
That much just became clear, as the newly minted Manhattan DA issued marching orders to his hundreds of assistants and support staff.
“Let’s do our very best to keep people out of jail, kids. And let’s really, really not sweat the small stuff.”
OK, Bragg didn’t actually say that — but it pretty faithfully paraphrases the guts of a staff memo Bragg issued Monday, the first business day of his four-year term.
