Far-left House members push four-day workweek

House liberals are lining up behind a proposal to shorten the U.S. workweek to four days, which could bring American workplace culture more closely in line with Europe’s.The Congressional Progressive Caucus this week endorsed a measure that would shorten the official definition of a full workweek to 32 hours, triggering overtime pay for many workers who put in any additional hours.“After a nearly two-year-long pandemic that forced millions of people to explore remote work options, it’s safe to say that we can’t — and shouldn’t — simply go back to normal, because normal wasn’t working,” Rep. Mark Takano, vice chairman of the CPC, said in a statement about the move.

Most of her constituents already live on the welfare plantation where they work 0 days of the week. If this were ever to pass, the rest of her constituents would quickly join them on the welfare plantation, because they couldn't hope to pay their bills working 4 days a week. But ultimately that is what lie-berals want. Poor folks on the welfare plantation keep voting for the people who give them the free stuff so that they can work 0 days a week.

'Normal' was working and has always worked. What is strange about this proposal is less hours worked leads to less taxes being collected - that being federal/state.Social Security and Medicare. How will the two latter be funded when we are told there isn't enough to go around now? Future recipients can expect to receive less SS payments and less Medicare services.

Three days of idleness. 32 hour workweek of which half the time is spent on personal business, breakfast, breaks, birthday parties. And vacation and personal time off. I wonder if this will produce a nation of wealth, or one of debt and poverty. Ben Franklin thought the latter, being wise, advised industry, improvement, and avoiding waste. I think I will go with Ben Franklin. The communists can go where they please, but don't be asking the Ben Franklin's to share your expenses, or pay for your choices.

The entrepreneurs and hard workers will pick up the slack and get wealthier while the slackers get poorer and wail about the “rich guys” keep getting ahead. Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters that Friday's Supreme Court ruling leaving in place a Texas abortion law was 'an attempt to undo 50 years of precedent.' The court ruled Friday that a lawsuit by abortion providers in Texas can move forward but left the ban on abortions after about six weeks in place as challenges are being litigated. The high court punted the law's legality. Its action today sends the case by abortion providers back to a district court, which could lead to it being suspended.

The US inflation rate has hit its highest level in nearly 40 years, adding woes for consumers and compounding the issue as a political liability for President Joe Biden. The consumer price index rose 0.8 percent last month after surging 0.9 percent in October, the Labor Department said on Friday. It pushed annual inflation to 6.8 percent in November, the highest increase since June 1982 and well above October's 6.2 percent annual rate. A labor shortage is boosting wages, sending costs higher for businesses, and chaos in the supply chain is showing little sign of easing, indicating that high inflation could persist well into 2022.

The effort is designed to keep landfills in the most populous U.S. state clear of food waste that damages the atmosphere as it decays. President Biden has signed a series of executive orders to make the federal government carbon neutral. The Democrat president on Wednesday ordered federal agencies to purchase electric vehicles, harness wind, solar, and nuclear energy to power facilities, and to use sustainable building materials. The goal is for the federal government to stop adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere by 2050. In the next decade, Biden wants the government to cease purchasing electricity produced from sources that emit carbon dioxide. By 2035, the administration wants all new federal cars and truck purchases to be zero-emissions. Right now, only about 1.5% of the government fleet is electric vehicles.
