SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Forget speeding tickets — California truck drivers will soon have to watch out for pollution tickets. State regulators on Thursday voted to crack down on heavy duty trucks weighing more than 14,000 pounds (6,350 kilograms) — those big semi-trailers that make up just 3% of all vehicles in California but spend so much time on the road they account for more than half of all pollution from cars and trucks each year. New rules will require these big trucks, including ones from other states passing through Califonria — to be tested at least four times per year to make sure they

Why would anyone want to try to conduct business in that horrible place? They go out of their way to drive everyone away, then increase taxes on those who can't afford to leave. And this is what the dem party wants for the rest of us?
I am so grateful to live on the other side of the country. Too close to the east coast, but in the balance I'll take my demons.

Maybe they should adopt tough standards for criminals? Lawn equipment and trucks are not likely to loot burn or murder anyone.

Government at work. Create a false problem. persecute citizens until they obey, draft new laws to mitigate the problem they caused, create a new problem and stall hundreds of cargo ships off our shores.

“Liane Randolph, chair of the California Air Resources Board, said the state is sensitive to those concerns, adding that regulators do a careful analysis of both the costs and the health benefits of any proposed rule.“
Ha! In a pig’s eye they do!
Remember Ca’s regulation of gig contractors? The assembly person who wrote the legislation picked the magic number of “35” as the top limit of jobs you could work as an independent contractor before you had to be hired by a company as an employee and provided healthcare. What was her research for that number? Nothing. Got it out of thin air. Killed my son’s second job.
OP nailed it.

Why not just mandate that people not use products that are shipped by “really big scary noisy offensive polluting” trucks?
The IRS could monitor their bank accounts to be sure that no such products are purchased.
To be fair they could apply the mandate only to those making less than $250,000 per year, with a carveout for people who enter the country illegally.
And apply it especially vigorously to anyone who has purchased a MAGA hat during the previous 7 years especially since such persons might be the culprits that attacked juicey smollay.

They’re moving out in droves. We see it here in Austin and surrounding towns. To name a few: Oracle, Tesla, Samsung, & US Army Futures Command. Politicians, billionaires, and the movie industry ruined what was once a paradise.

People need to stop using California ports for shipping their goods. Can't get trucks there that can work, so there will be inevitable jam ups. Ship to other western ports, or sail to Gulf and east coast ports.

Hey, I've got an idea! Let's ban any container ship older than a 2013 model from docking in any California port! (That's how idiotic they are).

There will be time to undo this silliness. Anyone who presently owns any of this gear can keep it and use it.
They are just trying to regulate what is to be bought in the future. Plenty of time to unregulate.

All supply routes should be moved away from California. Take container ships to Texas or Florida. Anywhere else but California. They're the bottleneck of the supply chain problem.

There evidently are two regulations proposed. One for diesel engines and one for small spark ignition engines that goes well beyond lawn equipment. Here's an excerpt from the small engine regulation, "SORE are spark-ignition engines rated at or below 19 kilowatts (25.5 horsepower). These engines are used in a variety of small off-road equipment types, including, but not limited to, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, air compressors, and portable generators." The small engine regulation will have a huge impact especially on construction and maintenance. CARB's tyranny is never ending.

Apparently gasoline powered lawn equipment can still be repaired. So why wouldn't companies have their tools overhauled as needed instead of replacing them?
Or could they buy those tools in another state, thus owning them, then move them to CA. Article says the regs won't apply to tools you already own.
