Brian Kelly took his talents away from South Bend, and immediately appeared to bend South. The new LSU head coach stepped on the court with a microphone at the Tigers’ basketball game on Wednesday, and spoke with a Southern twang that everyone on the internet finds hilarious. “This is a great way to get started, and I haven’t even won all my games yet,” Kelly, a Massachusetts native, told LSU fans. “It’s a great night to be a Tiger. I’m here with my family, and we are so excited to be in the great state of Louisiana.” The word “family” was particularly exaggerated, and sleuths have already figured out

Ed Orgeron was the best. An authentic man, a real coach.

Well he's not too smart. The biggest accent in southern Louisiana is cajun. Bet they had a good laugh at his expense.

Wish him and LSU well. Just hope he doesn't start using "you all". Never cared for him. A few years ago when Notre Dame wasn't dong that well he fired all of his assistant coaches. Not to go off topic, but the amount of money being tossed around in sports is unreal. Started with Jimbo Fisher getting $ 75 million to leave Florida State for Texas A&M. Now Lincoln Riley got $ 95 million to leave Okie for Southern Cow. Michigan State Coach got $ 95 million to stay in East Lasing Michigan. And the coach at Penn State gets a nice multmillion dollar raise. Back during the 1970s Pete Rose, one of the greatest ever baseball players, was waging his campaign to become the first singles hitter to make $ 100k a year. Today that would be chump change. The world has gone crazy.

Sports coaches must be some of the most rootless people in America. Surely Knute Rockne is turning in his grave.

A southern accent is not nearly the same as a Louisiana accent. All of my in-laws were born in the New Orleans area and they have a very distinct accent.

#5, ‘y’all’ is the greatest word in the English language. I was born in Lee County (as in Robert E.) Alabama and love the South and it’s distinct language and culture. Where I’m from, Birmingham is up North…
Speaking of North, we have been invaded by Yankees and our culture and language is being destroyed. Once distinctly Southern cities like Atlanta and Charlotte seem like suburbs of Lonnggg Ieeelaaand.
As to Louisiana, it has its own distinct accents. Some areas of the state are so Cajun we Southerners have a hard time understanding the language. In part of New Orleans people sound like they are from Brooklyn.
Welcome to the SEC, Coach Kelly. We play real football down here—and it is a brutal battle every weekend. I wish you well, but only when the Bayou Tigers are NOT playing my Auburn Tigers. War Eagle!

Welcome to the SEC. No more “cupcake” scheduling like Notre Dame and Cincinnati.

My suggestion to Mr. Kelly would be to touch base for advise with a person that came to Baton Rouge recently and won the fans over, Joe Burrow.
Oh bye the way, down here it is y'all, not you all.

This fake accent thing can be very irritating. I was born in Cali, but spent a lot of time in Virginia and Florida and was around folks with various levels of southern accents. I have a pretty neutral accent, parents from the midwest, with some "southernisms" in my speech patterns. I occasionally have to catch myself from sliding into a more southern dialect when talking with folks with strong southern accents. I don't like it in myself, and work to avoid this, and it is unbecoming in anyone, frankly.
Be who you are.

Brian Kelly was and is a jerk. He might be a good coach and that's it. He left Cincinnati and Notre Dame the same way. He has no loyalty except to himself and his money. He is at LSU because he realized that, unless he is in the SEC, it will be very difficult to win a national title. The SEC is where the majority of the college football powerhouses are. He wants a trophy in his resume badly. Sorry LSU, but I hope he doesn't get it. I give him five years.
