Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren is calling for an investigation into the rapid increase in turkey prices as Americans face sticker shock at the grocery store.
In a letter sent to Assistant Attorney General of the Antitrust Division Jonathan Kanter this week, Warren is asking the Department of Justice to investigate the poultry industry. She's blaming a rise in prices on "corporate greed," rather than on President Joe Biden's inflationary policies.
"The price of turkey has increased by 24% over the past year, far outpacing other Thanksgiving foods,

Go a bit further. Call for an investigation on the rising prices of everything which is producing a lower standard of living.

Put a sock in it......... This is a PR stunt to A; deflect from the real causes of inflation and B: make it look like "You care" about the "little guy". The true cost for turkey is or was about 2.70$ something a pound. That price WILL go up further due to energy costs, shipping costs and labor costs. You can get turkey substantially cheaper this time of year because retailers sell them at a loss expecting you to buy all of the fixins from them too. Three months ago, turkey was selling for almost 3$ a pound. I bought turkeys at Winn Dixie for $0.49 a pound. The same turkey is selling for $0.89 at Walmart.
Prices have gone up for very simple reasons.
Energy costs have gone up
Supply shortages
Labor shortages resulting in higher wages for new hires and increasing overtime due to staffing issues.
Forced layoffs/firings due to the so called "vaccine"
I just saved the federal government several million dollars investigating the obvious.

Leftist showboating alert! Leftist projection alert! Showing off. Blaming others for the problems they themselves cause. Two of their favorite pastimes.
It is funny. And it is really sick.

Hey Liz, speaking about inflated prices how about we have an investigation into your $300,000 per year salary to teach one (!) class at Harvard?

I remember when mortgage brokers were prosecuted for not lending to poor people.
They called it red lining.
Then the law was changed and a few years later they were prosecuted for predatory lending........ Because they loaned money to poor people.

Warren is an extremist, hates everything about our economy, free markets and has been working her whole life to destroy free markets.
She'll twist this into advocating for some new some centrally planned, pre-broken, government run econoimic leftist disaster. I'm sure.

It never ceases to amaze me at what politicians and celebrities will do and say for attention. Warren the liar is hard up for it. I still remember how stupid she looked swigging a beer at her home. Seems like every time she opens her mouth, something stupid comes out.

I learned, in one of my undergraduate business courses, that grocery stores use 'loss leaders' to get people into the store to buy other items.
Turkey at thanksgiving and Christmas is a loss leader. Loss leaders year round are milk, coffee, mayonnaise. (or at least they were in the 1960s.)
I would think Cherokee Lizzie would have learned that at some point.

Why the need to investigate? Lying, scheming, and despicable Raggedy Ann said price of a turkey only up $1 over last year, which is of city’s lie. Publix last year was $1.29/lb., but was $2.29/lb., this year. So a 20kb. turkey was $20 more than last year!

Good idea, let's have an investigation. Or, better yet, maybe Liz could just re-read her textbook from Macroeconomics 101.
