I believe it was Gaylord Nelson, then governor of Wisconsin, who first recognized the right of public employees to collectively bargain, and it was another governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, who decades later under state law virtually eliminated it with wonderful results for teachers, local governments, and pupils. (Snip) The outrageous directive by Attorney General Merrick Garland (Snip) only highlighted the overweening power of the unionized teachers.

Interesting thing about those Southwood High School dads deciding to take matters into their own hands by forming Dads on Duty, a group of about 40 dads who take shifts spending time at the school in Shreveport, Louisiana. After 23 fights and suspensions in a week, they took this action and there have been no fights since. But I'd wager that as soon as they leave the kids will start it right up again. The kids know how to play the game.

There should only be commercial business unions. A union has no business being in goobermint. That includes the teacher unions. Congress should decertify them.

Agree #3. But probably won't happen with the Democrats in charge and with weak kneed Republicans. One of the few things FDR had correct, would be that public sector unions were not allowed. That would be teacher's unions also. Clarice explained it clearly, that the taxpayers, we the people, are left out at the negotiating table with public sector unions. Elected officials, hungry for votes, are negotiating with their seffish interest (votes) with the union's selfish interest, power. We're left holding the bag. The way it is and has been for a long time. It should be stopped. All IMHO, of course.

Just imagine how different our culture would be today if Trayvon Martin had been properly disciplined for bringing a weapon (screwdriver) and stolen jewelry to school rather than given a pass and transferred out of the district.

I don't get this unionization of public employees. They are being paid by us. They need to prove to us they are worthy of their salaries. in a lot of schools they aren't based on the test scores and the garbage they are jamming down these kids throats.

In its recently updated guidance on exposure to COVID-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) treats double jabbed individuals that have not received a booster shot the same as unvaccinated ones. “For people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted, CDC now recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days,” the updated guidance reads.

I may be more distraught than usual as I’m dealing with the illness of a beloved pet, but I think even if I were not I’d have to acknowledge that in the absence of any rational leadership things quickly are spinning apart here. Dr. Anthony Fauci on Thursday said that the new Mu variant of COVID-19 is not considered to be “an immediate threat” to the US. Federal officials are “keeping a very close eye” on the virus mutation, though its “not at all even close to being dominant” in the US, the White House chief medical advisor said. “Bottom line, we’re paying attention to it. We take everything like that seriously, but we don’t consider it an immediate threat right now,” Fauci said during a White House COVID-19 briefing.

The American Medical Association (AMA) is calling for the "immediate end" to the use of ivermectin to treat COVID-19, and for doctors to stop prescribing it for that purpose, amid a spike in the use of the drug. Ivermectin, often used as a deworming agent in animals and sometimes for humans, is not approved to treat COVID-19 and has not been shown to work for that purpose. Poison control centers have recorded a five-fold increase in calls related to ivermectin, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

GETTYSBURG — On an overcast day, the national park that has preserved the history of one of the bloodiest and most significant battles of the American Civil War is filled with people from all over the country. It is a testament to the desire everywhere not just to know our history, but to also honor the soldiers who fought and lost their lives to protect our country. The event was supposed to celebrate the city’s reopening after coronavirus shutdowns. Instead, performances by the night’s biggest names – including Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and others – were canceled as rain and dangerous lightning ahead of the approaching Hurricane Henri prompted the concert’s organizers to interrupt, and later end, the show.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky has been making the media rounds. During her most recent appearance on CNN, The Conservative Treehouse caught her making a startling admission: The vaccines neither prevent people from catching COVID nor from spreading COVID. At most, they simply reduce the severity of the symptoms people experience if they do catch COVID. From this statement, Sundance draws the logical conclusion: Why should people get vaccine passports if they are both as contagious and as vulnerable to contagion as their unvaccinated cohorts?

There is a quiet revolution happening across America and it could mark the beginning of the biggest spiritual, cultural, and political changes this country has seen since the Civil War. New data made public earlier this week by the U.S. Census Bureau makes clear that millions of Americans are leaving Blue high-tax, high-crime, high-COVID-mandate Democratic states and moving to Red Republican states where taxes are lower, the police aren’t being defunded, and churches still thrive. Consider the contrast between Texas and Idaho on the one hand and New York and the District of Columbia on the other, as described by the Census Bureau (emphasis added):
