China on Tuesday launched a major effort to ramp up coal production and stabilize coal prices ahead of an anticipated surge in electric power demand this winter.
China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) reportedly ordered mine operators to “produce as much coal as possible.”
CNN noted on Wednesday that China made an effort to scale back coal production this year to placate climate change activists, but those desultory efforts simply evaporated in the face of rolling blackouts that interfered with the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) industrial goals.
Is there a single major item in the "climate change" agenda that does not disadvantage the United States in favor of China or Russia or both?

CNN pushing the propaganda of the communists again. China never gave one damn about greenie nonsense, nor did they scale anything back. China has been digging coal out of the ground as fast as they can manage it and building coal plants to burn it for the last two decades.
Meanwhile, the morons that rule us have destroyed coal power generation in the US, even though we have more than 500 years of proven reserve at peak usage. Power prices are skyrocketing all over the country because we are now slaves to the fringe environmentalists that waged successful war on coal, and have now turned to natural gas as their next target.

The left has demonized coal, but the fact is modern technology (like the Allam cycle) can capture and recycle carbon emissions from coal plants. The Chinese may not be so foolish and reckless after all. At least coal works and is there when you need it. Unlike wind and solar which are not reliable and are truly hazardous to the environment.
As usual, the libs hate what is practical and what works well.

We have a big carbon capture power plant here in Illinois, #3. The governor just signed a law to force them and the remaining coal plants here out of existence by 2030. My career was in coal generation, and I lost my job a few years ago because of the insane push in the US away from coal and natural gas.
The greens control the agenda here, and we are all paying the price because of it. Our corpulent puke of a governor is all in on electric cars powered by unicorn farts.

No worries, Joe will give them our excess coal. Our energy shutdowns benefit the Euroweenies and everybody else but Americans. The only place I have ever seen air pollution in this country is in Pittsburgh and South Los Angeles. Pittsburgh fixed theirs 40 years ago.

The US has 22% of the worlds coal reserves, and China has 14%. At the 2020 US coal production rate, these reserves would last us over 400 years. We have made great progress toward clean coal plant emissions. The wiser investment would be to continue to develop clean coal emissions rather than to destroy the beauty of our mountains ad kill birds with those awful windmills.
People who oppose coal are wasting a valuable, affordable energy resource by letting it remain unused.

NO!
There are literally boatloads of Australian coal on the water in Chinese harbors.
Chinese President Xi Jinping banned Australian coal because
Australia called for an investigation into the origins of WuFlu.
https://tfiglobalnews.com/2021/10/05/xi-jinping-finally-kneels-before-morrison-quietly-buys-australian-coal-amid-crippling-blackouts/
The phrase is "cutting off one's nose to spite one's face".
Now, China faces economic and ecologic reality.
China is thrashing about for every ounce of coal it can get, including Australian coal.
So, little Australia holds the key to future global economic progress, for now.
Will the Californians who so admire China take the lesson?
Or has economic collapse just not "been done right" like communism?
We'll see...

Where is big mouthed AOC on this? Are we supposed to stop using coal here now to off-set China's emissions while she drives in a car that uses electricity generated by fossil fuel?

We should still be using coal for most of our electricity. We know how to do it cleanly.....once you get past the lie that CO2 is a pollutant.
CO2 is a trace gas in the atmosphere, and slight increases are irrelevant to the climate, and very beneficial for green plant growth.
Envirowhackos are completely off base on this unscientific, unverified hypothesis.

WE all know this climate control crap is all about taking money from America and spreading it out among china...it's not about climate control..it's about controlling America's standing in the world as a super power...china and India are the countries causing most of the dirty air....so peddle your climate control elsewhere...WE're not buying...

China has a lot of very smart people, so I doubt they see the same information and have made the same conclusion (likely didn't use the over-hyped extreme sea level increase).
Plus, there are ways to capture and recycle the coal emissions as stated by #3.
The whole issue is more about pollution, IMO.
China needs to ensure over 1 billion people continue to have electricity, and to ensure their manufacturing can continue to operate and generate $$$.

Yes China has a lot of smart people. They have a lot of educated people. They do NOT have many innovative people. THEY DO NOT HAVE people who look up at the moon at night and seriously say ' let's go there'. So now it's the PRC v Elon Musk. My money's on SpaceX.

China is desperate for coal. Our coal industry is desperate for a market . .. and the jobs that go along with it. Sounds like a win/win.
Joe Manchin should negotiate a deal with Beijing for West Virginia coal that the Marxists in our country seek to outlaw.

Several years ago I read that China was going on a building program. They were planning to build 10 coal fired electric plants per year for the next ten years. Which equals 100 hundred plants. Now if the smoke from those 100 plants hits the right wind then that smoke will be heading West and right for us. Once it reaches are shores do you think China will care? Hell no. China is one of the biggest polluters in the world. And continues to get away with it. Why?

Ridiculously too many, #14. One or two per medium sized city would be plenty.

Won't happen anyway, #14 and #27. Greenies hate nuclear power almost as much as coal and NG. Nuclear generations costs close to double per MWh than coal does as well.
Fukushima put an end to the resurgence of nuclear power in the United States. Several new plant constructions have been abandoned since then, but we also still continue to close coal plants and cancel NG peakers as well. There are some upstarts that are experimenting with molten salt Thorium type reactors, but the ROI and scalability just isn't there yet, even with the obvious advantages of the technology. It is also quite expensive at this state, though that would reduce if they could get past proof of concept. Greens continue to sue to block most of these efforts, too.
