Washington—The Biden administration has approved a significant and permanent increase in the levels of food stamp assistance available to needy families—the largest single increase in the program’s history. Families in October have seen the average benefits for food stamps (officially known as the SNAP program) rise more than 25 percent above pre-pandemic levels. The increased assistance is indefinite to all 42 million SNAP beneficiaries. The aid boost was first reported by The New York Times and the details were confirmed by a spokeswoman for the Department of Agriculture. They were formally announced by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. The aid boost is being packaged as a major revision

And when the SNAPsters get to the grocery store will there be anything on the shelves to purchase with their newfound bounty?

Totally ridiculous.
For decades the uniparty has spent taxpayer money on programs they aren't constitutionally authorized to spend on. Our ancestors failed when they didn't horsewhip or hang every last one that ignored the constitution and implemented welfare, food stamps, etc.. This is what happens when you try to be 'nice'. It's time to stop being nice, and settle these scum's hash.

Food stamps allotments always go up in October....right before the elections.
Will Social Security go up 25% also?

Well, I have some friends who aren’t exactly ‘preppers’ but have a stash of necessaries as do I. We aren’t in The doomsday group but anywhere is subject to power outages so you need some clean water, canned goods, etc. I am truly worried about what might happen in the inner parts of our large Democrat run cities.....no power, no card readers will work. I can make a guess...desperate groups roaming for food.

Poster#8.... Because I live in South Louisiana, a place subject to hurricanes and power outages, I try to keep about a half year of supplies. While I know that no matter how prepared to defend my home I am, I don't believe I can defeat an assault by government forces, I feel pretty confidant tho, that when the starving, feral animals show up to help themselves to my supplies or harm members of my immediate family, there will be a rude awakening for them, because they shouldn't get much closer than 150/200 yards.

Seems to me that all those food pantries should be closed now. No need for them now that SNAP has increased. Ditto for backpacks from school. All I see from the increase is more vacations and spending on bling.

Anyone have a list of all the city, state, and federal entitlement programs? I'd like to see just how long it is.

Another Biden "how much lower can you go" achievement! After replacing Carter (or Obama) as worst president ever, he has now replaced Obama as the food stamp president!
SNAP program beneficiaries should not be allowed to vote themselves more largesse from the federal Treasury. Period.

Can anyone answer this question?
Why do Food Stamp users always use ALL of their money at the first of the month on one trip? The money on their food cards doesn't expire. How much food perishes by the end of the month?

IIRC, food stamp usage during the Trump years was the lowest in the history of the program.

Dont lump everyone together. My retirement funds were wiped out in 2008. I lost everything including my home. I live on widows benefits and get a whole $19.00 a month from food stamps. I didn't get an increase. However my new neighbors have 7 children and get several hundred dollars a month. They actually brag about it. Go figure.

Well this is interesting...so now...you're telling me that more food stamps are being given out...BUT... with the transportation secretary being home and trying to be a mommy the delivery system is shot and there won't be food on the shelves to feed the poor food stamp carriers.... guess it's the conservative's fault...huh?...oh no...I got it!!...it's President Trump's fault...

#15 - I am in the same situation. My total income is $1000/month. Food stamps are $12/month. So with a 25% increase, I will now be getting $15/month. Joining you to point out that we're not all hustlers.
