President Joe Biden’s own Department of Justice just laid the smackdown on him after he urged the January 6 House Select Committee to prosecute those who do not comply with a Congressional subpoena.
As he was outside the White House on Friday a CNN reporter asked him if those people, like former White House chief strategist Bannon, should be prosecuted.
“Mr. President, what’s your message to people who defy Congressional subpoenas on the January 6 committee?” the reporter said.
“I hope that the committee goes after them and holds them accountable criminally,” he said.
“Should they be prosecuted by the Justice Department?” the reporter pressed.
“I do, yes,” the president said.

My comment has nothing whatsoever to do with the content of the article.
Am I the only one frustrated and disgusted with the poor quality of writing, composition, and editing in so many articles these days? I have to read some headlines and paragraphs multiple times to try to make sense of them. Sloppy use of pronouns, incorrect contractions, and incomplete sentences seem to be acceptable by so many publications.
It's becoming increasingly necessary to do multiple readings just to clearly understand basic information.

Title has incorrect English. "It's" is NEVER the possessive of "it." The title should read . . . "It’s Independence."

Reply #1 is so correct and timely. Opinion pieces now are often so full of undefined abbreviations or acronyms that we are supposed to know, faddish terms like “gaslighting”, and long sentences that lead nowhere. I was thinking that maybe it was early dementia or post-covid “mind fog”. Which does exist, unfortunately.

Amen, #1. I guess an English degree doesn't mean much anymore. Kinda like a "science" degree.

OP,:
Totally agree. The lack of good written composition has been seen for several
years now. It seems to be going even further downhill.

You are soooo right, #1. The basic quality of education across the board is falling and when you know that teachers and journalists graduate somewhere at the bottom of every class, you get the level of fourth grade writing that we read here every day. Add to that mix the growing number of writers hired by the diverse media who learned English as a second language and those of us who have been avid readers and writers for a long time are disgusted by what serves as an article.
Regarding the article and the hierarchy of this government, the more infighting we see the faster it will all fall apart. Joe's polls are finally down in teens territory where they belong. MAGA & FJB

As you can see, # 1, you are not alone.
My pet peeves:
- use of the plural form following the word "none". "None" is SINGULAR, damn it!
- whatever happened to the SUBJUNCTIVE, the conditional tense? It's been tossed to the wayside. Ex: "If [so & so] WAS president ..." It drives me nuts!
Sometimes I think of having a novelty bumper sticker made up: "Whatever happened to... the SUBJUNCTIVE?" That would leave 'em scratching their heads, would it not? :-)

Grammar is not taught any more. Most young adults are completely ignorant of the subject, and it shows.

DOJ is in the Leftist Tank, 1600%. (they double down on 100% 4 times)...Lib Math at it's finest.
Anyway, Joey and the House Thugs can POUND SAND. The Hearings are a SHAM and FAKE so they should have no problem with witnesses that 'Can't Recall'!

#1...It's Leftist Gramar...made up words, no correct anything, just words that sort of say something but are from twisted minds.
There you go!

OP, they are simply trying to fool people into thinking it's an independent department.
You see, most democrats believe whatever they are told by their government officials.
And, this was the group who in the 60's and early 70's didn't trust govenrment, right?

I totally agree with #1. One of my pet peeves is: “He gave the letter to John and I.” It’s okay to still say “me.” He gave the letter to John and me. The heading was ridiculous.

The Department of Justice is NOT an independent branch of government.
The Department of Justice is a subordinate department in the Executive Branch that
works for and answers to the office of the President of the United States of America.
If this report is true, the Attorney General Merrick B. Garland should be immediately forced to resign.
This is exactly the administrative state, "Deep State" doodoo that is the problem.
These Departments think they are independent agencies.
