A little over a week ago, I wrote about my decision to finally start exercising my Second Amendment right to bear arms. In the piece, I discussed some of the reasons why I chose to take this step and outlined parts of the journey that led me to this place. I am now proud to say I am a gun owner. In a live stream on my show, “A Fresh Perspective with Jeff Charles,” I discussed the process I went through to choose the firearm I would purchase as my first gun. It was a fun journey filled with copious levels of research and
Good for you. Now find a good training class, and practice as much as you can. Learning to shoot properly and safely is a very valuable skill.
The author seems to have a good mindset and is willing to learn. Welcome to the world of firearms ownership!

The problem isn’t finding weapons, it is purchasing ammunition with which to practice…

Lots of folks realizing that the Dems have made the police protecting you a even dimmer prospect than it was.
The M&P is a decent choice, although many times a revolver is simpler to learn to operate for the newbie.
Sounds like he will be practicing regularly, a good thing. Hope he can find the ammo to do it. And more than one session with an instructor is necessary, for sure.

Good for him. Better late than never.
Since he’s already discovered that shooting is fun, he’ll spend some more time at the range. He’ll discover different places to shoot, and he’ll run into other shooters and discover that, by and large, they’re good people. He’ll start to realize that almost everything he’s heard and read about firearms and their owners is a lie.
Multiply this guy by 10,000,000, and we’ve made real progress.

You got it #2
At a buck a shot practice gets costly.
Even building you own gets costly.
I've got a Browning Buckmaster .22 Cost is 2 cents a shot. I can still put holes in the middle of the paper.

Firearms are not expensive, but the money will seep away anyway. Ammo, range fees, cleaning kits... He'll go through five holsters and three belts before he finds the combination he likes. Then he'll get another pistol and start the holster hunt again.
And he'll be smiling the entire time he's buying. :)

#6, you haven't bought .22 ammo in a while, have you? I sure wish we could still get .22 ammo for two cents a shot! I'd buy plenty.
Last I looked .22 LR ammo was about $85 for a brick of 500 rounds, which works out to 17.5 cents per shot. At that price, I am not a buyer. The $10 a brick days (which is 2 cents a shot) went away about 25+ years ago, at least around here. Three years ago, well before this latest ammo insanity started, a brick was about $25 or $30, which is 5 or 6 cents a round. Still by far the cheapest shooting, though, even at 17.5 cents a shot.

I bought ammo before I bought a gun. I ended up with the Canik TP9SF. A friend of mine who has a large collection of firearms and years of experience with firearms raved about the trigger and the quality of the product from Turkey. The Canik is the carry firearm for the Turkish military.
