As Washington turns its attention to a massive $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill, every household across America should be on high alert because some Democrats want to take away the right to work. Senate Finance Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) is championing a bill to radically overhaul America’s unemployment system. The legislation would model our federal system on a California law that is so unpopular and so poorly written that emergency action was required to avoid severely disrupting the state’s economy. (Snip) Today, millions of American workers operate as independent contractors instead of employees. This allows them to operate their own small
Sooner or later, we are either going to have to outlaw the communist / democraps in America, or perish under their heel.

See what happens when you let something like the 16th/17th amendments get implemented? And then let judicial commies claim the commerce clause lets them intrude into every transaction of any type, anywhere? And let commies take over the media and institutions? This is what happens. Can we play Cowboys and leftards, yet? It's the only way they will stop.

Wait one! The solution to this is so very simple: If the Wyden law passes, the independent contractors will just keep providing their services on a barter or cash basis and thus launch a PARALLEL ECONOMY, in which there no records kept and federal, nstate and local government would receive NO TAX at all. The more I think about it, the more I think Ron Wyden is the politician we conservatives have been waiting for. Bring it on, Ronnie, Baby! We love ya!

Excuse the second post but I forgot the msot important part and that is that the title of this article should really be "A Democratic plan to force conservatives to launch a parallel economy."

The Democrats don't want independent contractors because they are not considered employees. Their wages aren't traced on W-4's at the end of the year. They aren't union members, and they pretty much control their own work life. They are free to contract with multiple companies if they wish and make as much or as little as they like. They can charge as much or as little as the market allows them to. Bottom line is they are hard for the government to control as they must be trusted to report all of their fees on their own. Of course, the sneaky new requirement that banks report any transaction over $600 hidden in the 3.5 trillion disaster spending bill could help take care of this. It is all about control. CONTROL and submission to the government.

Most of my career (IT) I was a contractor for a number of reasons. First, I was "older" (late 30's into 40's) and female and companies would not our right hire me. Then I got paid twice as much or more to do the same job for a limited time. Being self-employed, there were a ton of deductions I could use legally to reduce my taxes. This was a no brainer. By the time I was fed up with a company, the contract was at an end and I could move to another company. A company is not going to hire permanent people, only to have to lay them off after a short time. That would kill their unemployment taxes.

#8 their wages ARE tracked on a 1099 and reported to the IRS. Hubby was an independent before becoming permanent with his company. I also had 1099's when I was working.

Independent contractors are that way because that is their personality. They are never going to fit the corporate culture. They have the skills, but also a freedom loving nature. There is no making them different. The Democrats want to bring them under control, but that love of freedom is never going to change, and the Democrats are never going to be able to subdue them. Even under communist Russia, you want a plumber, you call a contractor, if you want it fixed.

The 1986 tax reform act successfully screwed computer programmers and engineers and forced them to work for middlemen who took 50% or more of the income from a job. They could no longer write off travel, meals and lodging except by following stupid government guidelines. Now all contractors will have the same setup. It's like a return to slavery.

Democrats don't want to allow people who are willing to put in a little extra work to be allowed to get any benefit from doing that. Allow NO ONE to get ahead in life.

It’s money that the government wants. They know that independents have “flexibility” to minimize their taxes. Landscapers, maids, contractors, and millions similar. They are relentless in their lust for more revenue to ***s away. They are now looking at ways to raid your pensions and IRAs.

Every one of us ought to be sending notes to Dems saying NO to the Dem schemes and plans. Cease and desist.
They are destroying the USA. They're primary obligation is to defend and protect the country they claim to represent and serve. They are, therefore, quislings and stooges.
Call and write and tell them to defend the borders, like every other country in the world does. If they fail, they should be ousted, condemned and ousted.

The Dems never rest in concocting evil deeds. The plan would tax employers for using independent contractors, making the arrangement untenable.
