COVID has revealed a lot over the last year and a half, but no country has been exposed more for its underlying culture of tyranny than Australia. Formerly a beacon of freedom, community, and beautiful landscapes, the land down under has morphed into a dystopian hellscape where the government blesses its residents with an hour of free time a day. The former prison colony has reverted to its roots.
Nowhere is that more apparent than in the COVID internment camps now operating in Australia. Travelers, both foreign and domestic are forced into one of the various metal buildings to serve out their 14-day sentence. There, they remain “quarantined,”

Now children; you should know it’s for your own good. So be good little boys and girls and mind what your Big Brother says for you to do.

I live in Sydney (10kms from the CBD) and I go where I want when I want. There are no police or military on the streets here. Australia is made up of states and we are all different with different leaders so this “Australia” bs is exactly that. It’s like saying California or Kansas are America.
Here in Sydney the worst Covid hotspots are in suburbs that are virtual ghettos of people who think their religion puts them above the rules. Hence the lockdown,

Look at the graph imbedded in Bonchie's piece and that is all one needs to see. Instead of using common sense, the Aussie socialist government has opted for tyrannical control of its citizens. The country is devouring itself. The Aussie government assumes that covid is the only disease that exists. The government has brainwashed itself into thinking that tyranny of this sort will cleanse the country. I wonder how long it will be before the citizens themselves come to realize that the "better safe than sorry" approach has ensured their own country's demise.

Off the subject of Australia but on the subject of Bonchie: He seems like a smart guy, but he obviously is young and grew up without reading well-written books and articles. (And apparently his editor did the same.) I always catch errors in his writing; two that jumped out today are "nothing seems to be phasing the Aussie government" -- that should be fazing. And "the average Aussie is loathed to admit" -- that's loath to admit. Nitpicky? Okay, but I hate to see our language deteriorate.

Typical leftist governance. If the people oppose their brilliant policy they just ramp up the authoritarianism with violence and imprisonment.

What a surprise to learn that Australia, once a beacon of freedom to many, has arguably become a virtual police state. First, they confiscate the guns and then the freedom to 'come and go.' I guess the lesson learned here is that there are good reasons for having a written constitution with real restrictions on the power of government. And, this gives Americans a preview of what this country will become if Democrats are successful in their efforts to "...tear down and rebuild..."

I used to travel to Australia at least once a year for several years. I loved the people and the country; it reminded me of what America used to be. It makes me truly sad to see what it has become.

#8, Correct. And they use the sheeple to do the dirty work. You know those “Karen’s” who go on social media and make overly emotional statements that tug on the heartstrings but does not carry any weight of truth to it. I am still amazed at how easily people are duped, they just go along to get along. They certainly do not want to be an outsider. The leftists know it and use these emotional bullying tactics to their advantage.
An aside: I am more in awe of our Founders than ever before. The courage they had to show in the face of real adversity is simply amazingly brave. If we were the settlers today I am not sure a majority of us would have the courage needed to confront such a powerful enemy. We fall silent in the face of a little personal criticism.

It's a damned shame to see a country that produced superb fighting infantry divisions on demand in both World Wars come to this. It seems that the educated kuul kids have taken control of the country and the hell with everybody else. Their self confidence and rugged individualism seems to have vanished.

All this while information is coming out that the CDC knew the test kits had high failure rates and many false positives. Which means we shut down
the world and continue to mask up and live in fear all because of a flawed, unreliable test, but the Marxist couldn't care less.
The sketchy test is moving them towards their dream of a dystopian state where they get to be the ruling elite, complete with gulags as evidenced by Australia's "Centers for National Resilience,” a name that would make Josef Stalin grin.

South Korea is doing this too. My daughter and I went through 2 weeks in a govt facility hotel in June and it was a nightmare. You can’t leave the room let alone open the door outside meals. The food was utterly disgusting and cold. You’re not allowed to have food delivered nor do they provide snacks, just water. If you cracked your door even an inch an alarm would go off. The worse part is I paid $1500 for each of us to be locked up.

Israel is the canary in the coal mine as serious hospitalized infection soar with 94+% double injected and a third injection demanded. In contrast Sweden is below 15% as they only injected their elderly, bet they wish they had waited, serious infections are extremely low and they ban travel to/from Israel. The fascists in Australia are not following the statistics as it is about totalitarianism.

Will rise up and fight while we stand still

They couldn't just requisition and restrict access to a few floors at the local Hilton? Cable, mini bar, room service left outside the door to the fire stairs? Sure seems like they are taking a simple fix and making it WAY too complicated.

The beginning of the end was when the Aussies gave up their guns without a fight. Remember this lesson well Americans! Also, where are the Jonathan Edwards, preachers of old, who preached fire and damnation to the sinners....Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God? Maybe we should pray for that kind of preaching for this administration in D.C.

Both New Zealand and Australia gave up their guns first ... or I can guarantee you most of this nonsense would not be taking place down there.
Sadly, I see both countries as test cases to see just how much normal people will take before they revolt. Apparently a lot! Expect something like this to come to America real soon.
Anyone in their right minds that doesn't see a direct connection between our border crisis and the increase in USA cases of COVID is in denial. And now we will soon have another 250,000 illegal aliens who are orthodox Muslims --- also unscreened for the Chinese flu --- living here.
The Left is deliberately creating chaos because they think they can control the ultimate outcome. They could not be more wrong. Easier to control an earthquake or forest fire than what the Left has planned.

#4 I am not sure what that poster meant but it could be they don't believe people should be able to refuse the non-vaccine "vax" on the basis of religious objections (among other things). I am glad that in the U.S. we have recognized that all of us have individual unalienable rights that are given to us by our Creator and cannot be taken away by government or man. Of course, our government (at least those in government who have a "D" after their name) is still trying to take them away...

This is the ultimate wet dream for Surrender Joe and his minions. Don't put it past them. Milley and Austin are more than willing to deploy the military to enforce such a lockdown. After all, the "White Rage" is behind the resistance to vaxing. Milley knows all about the "White Rage" better than he does for planning for withdrawals.
