On September 10th, 2001 I was 33 years old. My husband was an NYPD officer and we lived in a co-op that we could not have bought without help from our parents. We were $50,000 in debt from credit cards and I was working as a graphic artist and occasionally a dog trainer for extra cash (at least something I enjoyed) all hoping one day to realize my dream of being an international rock star. I had been a professional musician in the past living hand to mouth but as time went on, I realized I had to fall back on what I went to college for to get

Everyone wakes up when their ox is gored.

Sorry about her not having kids, though, would have made her even stronger.

I think if she had been 40 years old on 9/11 it would have been more difficult for her to wake up and smell the coffee. My parents were “yellow dog” Democrats until they died; they never did get it.

Interesting article and I appreciate her story of metamorphosis. I agree with another poster, had she had children, I believe her live and let live attitude toward social issues would have also changed a bit. If she thinks that our laissez faire approach to social issues hasn't also driven us to "the precipice", she is mistaken. To paraphrase her own idea of things are fine till the shinola hits your own fan, live and let live is fine until I'm not allowed to live as I wish, and that is where we are now thanks to the live and let live crowd. In her pursuit of knowledge, has she found a society that thrives under live and let live where the innocent don't get trampled? Somebody's liberty will be at stake and it's usually those who can't defend themselves against the rhetoric of Liberté!. "My body, my choice" comes to mind. Odd how that phrase doesn't apply to everyone, but it's a live and let live (or die in this case) mantra. So, brush up on those social issues, because the Islamics are coming and they have a different idea about live and let live.

A Liberal, who got mugged.
Armageddon is coming. And it will be everywhere, even if it starts in Iran. The Muslims know this, as well. As descendants of Abraham, and having decided the Jews are no longer God's chosen, they rush toward Armageddon EAGERLY!
Mohamed is said to have thought the 'angel' visiting him, was Satan, till his wife convinced him to reach out and take the power offered. (Adam and Eve, all over again). Islam runs towards its own destruction.
And so do the Elites and their followers.

My husband and I are childless. We have always been conservative. While having children my change some people's opinions about politics, children are not always required to wake people up.

She concludes with the most powerful of advice; we must all exercise our rights as individuals by constantly questioning our leaders and government authority at every turn. In essence, as citizens we should behave like unruly 6th graders with a lame substitute teacher. Widespread citizen disdain, disrespect and mocking of all "mandates" should be the order of the day.

That's the only way to save liberals, one at a time. Her warning of another 9/11 is not just residual fear, it's coming.

I went to the polling place with my parents and excitedly pulled the lever for Michael Dukakis. Why? I liked his wife Kitty...I voted for President Clinton both times. He was young, good looking, charming and played the saxophone on the Arsenio Hall show during the 1992 campaign. Yes, I thought, this guy is going to be an amazing President.

Shari must be one of only a small handful of New Yorkers who saw the light on 9/11. 10 years later they elected a communist mayor.

One more thought…
“I was also pro-choice and still am to a point. I was and still am a live and let live person if you do no harm to others.”
I guess she, to a point, still believes that there is no “other” when an abortion is performed.
