Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) just released a statement this morning warning Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) that he has “serious concerns” about the massive spending in the $3.5 trillion budget spending plan that the Democrats are trying to push through, particularly in light of the rising inflation and debt. The bill is basically a wishlist of every Democratic agenda item to help them hold onto power.
While Manchin voted yes on a procedural vote to move the bill forward because he wanted discussion on the fiscal policy, he said that he was not in favor of the bill as presently constructed because of the huge cost:

Kneecaps? Maybe. More likely a message that the cut to Manchin and his well- connected Swamp dwelling wife ain't enough. He just wants to re-negotiate his payoff.

You know, an honest politician is one that when he is bought, he stays bought.
Joe Machin is not an honest politician!

Seems unlikely but not impossible that Manchin has been bitten by reality. Or at least realized that he has a chance to finally do something good for the country. Up til now, he has been only a rubber stamp. Maybe it is just “getting old”.

Mitch "Multiuseless" McConnell will probably try to get it down to 3 $Trillion
and call it a win-win for everyone.
Expecting the support of the RINO Trio - Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Mitt "Pierre Delecto" Romney

Serious concerns? And did he vote for it?

Manchin has been telling them for weeks that he won't support 3.5T. They apparently still haven't found his price yet.
Sinema doesn't seem to be onboard either, and they have to have all 50 to pull their reconciliation stunt. If Manchin is so worried about his re-election that it kills this nonsense, then I would take it as a win. BUT - I would never trust this guy as far as I could throw him.

FTA - "The bill is basically a wish list of every Democratic agenda item to help them hold onto power."
So, as we can see, this charade is all about the dims keeping their base happy and supportive while America circles the drain. Cultivating yet more votes among adoring illegals is the prime directive. Building their base to include the illegals will eventually result in one-party rule...for a long long time. As long as the blacks don't turn on them and switch to the pubbies. Signs of this are already happening.

Come on Joe do the right thing and vote no. You and Sinema are our only hope. This thing moved forward thanks to Mitch and all those repubs that voted for it should be publicly rebuked and ashamed.

Manchin is one slippery dude. Boy, you people are so cynical about poor little country boy Eely Joe. Either he wants a bigger cut for his vote or he’s seen some polls. Take your pick but I think it’s a little of both. I’m cynical too.

He's a DemoRAT though - he can complain loudly but his party ALWAYS comes first, so he'll vote YES in lockstep with what his DemoRAT superiors want.

So as usual Congress will flog this around. Everybody doubles up on their pals' pork. They squeeze out a few of them who are on this week's hit list. Then they bust it down from 3.5 TRILLION to 2.8 TRILLION and let their media pets holler about how "responsible" they are.

Joe knows he can vote against it and make the folks back in West Virginia think he should be re-elected.
Joe knows that there are enough RINO's (Maybe even 19 of them), who will vote with the democrats.
